Short of rounding them up and placing them in Suffolk County line busses for a one way trip to Kennedy Airport all of Levy's pandering to the press is just window dressing. Levy is going about this problem half assed just to claim he is doing something. He is wooing the only viable electorate the county has, the white vote. The illegals can't vote (wink, wink) and the blacks are too apathetic. On the first count Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are calling for legislation to allow convicted felons and illegal aliens the right to vote. Hmmmm do you think that illegals and felons might generally vote democrat? Considering how dems seem more inclined to coddle criminals and hand over more welfare to the perps. So lets see if we can follow Hillary's plan here. She pushes for convicted felons to have the right to vote and if you believe the rumors she will run for president in 08 and reap the reward of allowing murderers, rapists, child molesters and burglars the right to vote FOR HER. Back to Levy. If he was serious about deporting the illegal alien problem he would round em up since they are in violation of numerous laws, put them on busses and flood the front steps of ICE/BICE/INS whatever their acronym du jour is. It would at least be an interesting day and would get the attention of the National media. If Levy had the balls (which he doesn't) a move of that magnitude would GUARANTEE his re-election. I'm sure he would get plenty of cross party votes.

If levy wanted to get rid of them, he would establish safety checks all along the hiring corridors, have motor carrier check all commercial vehicles, summons the piss out of the drivers, call the owners down summons them for faccilitating unlicensed driver, impound the cars, trucks.
Have the cops and das aggressively pursue the landlords and illegal housing.
You cannot give Levy any credit for the federal sweeps of WANTED illegals, they do this all the time, at least 6 times a year they will come through suffolk, more if they have a important target. Levy just grabbed the opportunity to grandstand. another photo op.
