They hire a dozen people for the county attorney's office, instead of the 4 dozen jobs there we thought we'd have - should have. That's the office that is all appointed. His spending habits were so bad that the State had to put an oversite committee in charge of him. And they have declined to approve every single budget he has submitted yet. The only payroll he reduced was the union workers - the low level, low paid, front line nonpolitical test taking civil servants while padding the payroll with felons, unqualified and inexperienced kids just out of college, high school educated real estate salespeople who sell real estate while also being put in charge of agencies that are bloated with hacks and perform no tangible benefits to the general taxpayer. He cost the taxpayers millions and millions in stupid lawsuits that he lost, in a referendum that he lost, in personal service contracts for his friends that he bypassed even the republican run legislature to get passed, lost the MTA service contract because he doesn't know how to negotiate, can't negotiate with the unions, told the people that campaigned for him their was a hiring freeze while piling his family and walker's family with jobs and perks - like cars. Now he's spending $25 million dollars on grass for a baseball field. Property taxes have gone up. School taxes have gone up because he ignored the guarantee and destroyed their budget and tried to get the schools and the towns to pay for the county's debts. He is being sued by 56 school districts - a lawsuit he will lose - tried to shove redistricting down the voters throats - lost that too - showing no respect for the voters themselves and chastised the taxpayers for refusing to let him borrow millions of dollars for a sports complex while doing nothing about taxes or jobs. School taxes have gone up because he ignored the guarantee and destroyed their budget and tried to get the schools and the towns to pay for the county's debts. He is being sued by 56 school districts - a lawsuit he will lose - tried to shove redistricting down the voters throats - lost that too - showing no respect for the voters themselves and chastised the taxpayers for refusing to let him borrow millions of dollars for a sports complex while doing nothing about taxes or jobs. Schools have 2 separate lawsuits against the freaks. 1 because he tried pawning off the tax assessment refunds onto them and 2 because he tried stufffing their budgets with water and sewer tax charges. Either way the taxpayers keep paying. He said he had a plan to fix things. That's not a fix.

Why should the county refund the tax overassessments? The money went to the schools, let the school district pay for it. Why should the entire county subsidize individual school districts.

I pay for my water & sewer. Why shouldn't the schools?

This way we get a truer picture of how much we are actually spending on running the schools.

If the county picks up the tab for these things it just makes the school budget look smaller than it is.

Because it's the county that's doing the assessments and screwing them up, that's why. If they just did their job right there wouldn't be refunds, would there?
