In a editorial in their Sunday Long Island edition the newspaper claims there are organized hatemongers against Hispanics in Suffolk County.
The paper takes the opportunity to chastise CE Levy's deputization plan. They say while Levy is inclusive when it concerns African American Affairs he has been lacking concerning Hispanics.
The paper also states: " But the struggle for fairness and racial harmony on Long Island is long and daunting and must be fought on many fronts.
Suffolk County is a place with organized anti-Hispanic hate mongers. It has daily scenes of community chaos in places like Farmingville and Southampton, where crowds of day laborers and snaking lines of contractor trucks and vans create traffic headaches and foster disturbing resentments among the native-born.
It remains a place of racial segregation and housing discrimination, as a report only last week by the advocacy group Erase Racism showed."
It's nice to know that at least the NY Times says there are scenes of community chaos. This paper has also become a cruel joke for accurate and precise journalism. They're in the mold of a Newsday but on steroids.
As for me and everyone I associate with who happen to be White we just had a nice get together in a little quaint restaurant. It's owned by a immigrant who has been here legally for over 10 years.
He originally came from El Salvador and his family members still live there. His mostly but not all Hispanic help are also legitimate immigrants who came here legally.
This is the American dream in action. Not the chaos on our nation's border that allows millions of illegal aliens to flood our streets and to bring with them gangs or even worse. Then to stand on our streets by the hundreds interefering with traffic and quality of life issues for all those who live in the area.
For shame on the New York Times and Newsday. They are the real hatemongers and ideologs of intolerance.

My heart goes out to all the legal immigrants making a life in this country. They get lumped in too often with all hispanic people. When the newspapers write articles concerning the issue of 'illegals' they should just stick to the subject of laws being broken and cut the nonsense, they don't help solve anything they just aggravate it and aid the greedy people making money from the problem.

Thats so true. All of it. I also feel sorry for the millions of legal immigrants who have come here to make a life for themselves. Many are legitimate Hispanics from other countries too. It's a shame our government has allowed this fiasco to continue for so long. It really has affected all of us in one way or another. But the media certainly has been for the most part pouring gasoline on a burning fire when they slander whole communities and individuals by calling them racists because they don't want illegal immigration and/or overdevelopment. I'm afraid things will get uglier before they get better with those kinds of attitudes in our local and national media.
good article in the LA Times
said that anti illegal immigrant groups spreading across the country at a rapid pace
people are very concerned about how the major parties have not responded or have responded to little in this major controversy
this is costing the middleclass billions upon billions of dollars a year
not only to support illegals through government programs but the loss of jobs and quality of lifelatimes.com

millions of foreigners would like to drive in their country's but can't
now thanks to Newsday they can come to NYState and drive and they don't have to be legal so that means any illegal alien COME ON OVER--- it's not like our roads are already congested

a rag and is only good for lining the cat box. I stopped reading Newsday over 20 years ago. Too bad they can't use the print for solving problems on LI and not creating them. Newsday is catering to the 'special' money interests of LI, legal and illegal. The NY Times is a total waste, too bad, at one time I would not have said that.

Has to be TONY

Please TONY, no more of the "Big Picture." Scare tactics won the presidency, but will not win Huntington for the Republicans. Maybe the lily white base in Huntington Station, not in the whole town. The Voters in Huntington are smarter than that. Newsday has your number.... Keep em out 'a my neighborhood, keep it white. Stirring up opposition to Newsday will not work. Bad ideas dont get better with a little whitewash.

Huntington Station is the only part of Huntington with the exception of Greenlawn that is integrated. Thats a fact that the liberal Democrats can't dispute.
When Jon Cooper gets Blacks into Lloyd Harbor please let us know!
We certainly know he won't downzone to accomplish that the hypocrit.
How many Blacks on Berland's street or even Cuthbertson's or Petrone's?
I'm happy to say I and all my Republican friends in Huntington Station have diversity around us and with us.
You rich liberal Democrats go back to your incorporated villages and gated communities and preach your hate.

It is a common enough occurence, they work out of Manhattan, when they get a lead on a wanted fugitve, they go get him.
They do it now, suddenly every politician is on tv trying to get the credit for the job the Federal goverment is doing.
I guess if the county cant do it themselves, they might as well ride our coattails.

What has petrone done for the town's African American population? Nothing according to Democrat committeeman Michael Kornfeld in the latest edition of the Long Islander.
And to top it off Petrone's Democrat administration has sided with Ultra Conservatives to block councilmanic districts thereby hurting Blacks and other minorities from either getting elected or having equal representation.
This also hurts true conservatives who could have run for some of these district seats.
Frank Petrone is no Democrat neither are Ultra Conservative Thury or Weber the developer mogul behind this whole charade.
Still losers on the Republican side. More the pity
