View Full Version : Lets talk about NC Clerk
gonna walk for Rocco
04-24-2005, 12:52 PM
Who are the dem's putting up? Is Rocco getting the nomination?
Press Release
04-24-2005, 03:46 PM
Doesnt Rocco have one announcing his candidacy that came out a few days ago?

Rocco can/ should/ will win the Clerk's race. But I hear rumbling that Suozzi and JJ want to run a minority--are they on crack? Or is the DiNapoli/ North Hempstead connection causing them to seizure. Or is it that 3 North Shore candidates and 1 from Philadelphia (lol) isnt exactly going to help the Hempstead and Oyster Bay Town tickets. Or is it that Suozzi doesnt want Rocco to get more Countywide votes than him! (Rocco WILL, by the way). Maybe they should also start thinking about a Democratic candidate against Scannell (!!).

Jacobs is trying to get someone other than Rocco. Jay Jacobs is either a sellout or a republican tool. Eitehr way, he's got to go.

By pushing some Blkack gal from Hempstead named trish, Jacobs has cut some sort of very weird deal with someone with Suozzi's blessing. This is not good.

This is correct.

Four years ago when Jacobs could have supported a more than qualified Sharon Comisiong(a black woman) he did nothing, and gave nothing, other than trying to fire her two years later. Oh and if you want to really know what Jacobs thinks about Black Women ask Barbara Patton and Dorothy Goosby.

Jacob's hates the black, and hes proven that on more the one occasion.
Dante's Inferno

Rocco will win that primary, if there is a primary; I am hearing that the North Hempstead Democratic Committee is considering not carrying certain County-wide petitions if Rocco isn't the designated Clerk candidate! I wonder if they would refuse to carry SUOZZI petitions. That would send a message!
The Deal is Real
04-25-2005, 10:02 PM
This is the deal-plain and simple. Jacobs and Suozzola run a shill (TRISH Farrell?????spelling) and give her no support and no issues to run on. the rep candidate is supposed to be Erin "I gather petitions improperly) King Sweeney. That issue doesnt come up. Sweeney wins a close one and starts a career with daddy's blessing and the blessing of her uncle Denis D.
suozzi is afraid
04-25-2005, 10:52 PM
Rocco is a viable county wide candidate for Clerk. Suozzi wants to stop the growth of rivals, even with his own party. It is that simple.
What about the Goosby

Just look what his "boys club" at the BOE did to Dot Goosby. That should say it all.
Iannarelli is the nominee. He was announced in the Community Journal.
Goosby may want it, but will stay put. She's out for herself, but who can blame her after the party effed her last year?
Why is it a black thing?
04-26-2005, 12:51 AM
Equality when it's convenient - race when it's convenient too huh?
PLEASE - you'll never earn respect because this is the way you think.
They screwed just as many WHITE people and protected just as many BLACK people - you don't hear the white people who got knocked screaming racism do you?
Get over yourselfs. It was probably alot of reasons and being black wasn't an issue. Stop making it one if you really want blacks to be treated as equals - and while we're at it - let's get rid of affirmative action too.
It's not affirmative action - it's racist against everyone NOT considered a minority - and that's the class of people who actually is becoming THE minority.
Rocco is going to give Suozzi and Jay boy a spanking. Despite their "directive" that he not run, he will run and win. He has huge support and he can raise money. Any attempt by Jay boy to primary him, would only be a waste of Suozzi's war-chest dollars. Go Rocco.
Rocco You Are My Guy
04-26-2005, 05:25 PM
Go get them Roc. Don't let them hold you back as they have done to other Dems. Instead of changing parties or becoming their puppets just take them dead on. A lot of real Dems will follow.
MO MENTUM
04-26-2005, 06:29 PM
Rooco dont fall for Jay's tricks. He will try to get you out of the race then put back this Farrell gal (who lives with mommy and daddy in Uiondale). Stay the course, everyone will drop like flies and Suozzi will see that you add alot to the ticket and Jay will be told to stop the nonsense.

Could Rocco possibly outpoll somebody on the ticket like Weitzman>?
Forget About Weitzman
04-27-2005, 11:54 PM
Could Rocco possibly outpoll somebody on the ticket like Weitzman>?
Rocco could outpoll Suozzi. Rocco will draw Italian voters who may have voted GOP, but does not have the infamous reputation of Suozzi. He would be just an ethnic name of the ballot. Rocco could outpoll Suozzi on the Democratic line. Rocco would do particularly well if the GOP run a nondescript ethnic.

Who is Farrell
04-28-2005, 06:38 PM
Trish Farrell and whats the deal here? How is Mrs. Rice part of the Trish Farrell deal?
Go Rocco Go Rocco
04-28-2005, 10:24 PM
Ok Lets be realistic here. Rocky is gonna be he next clerk. Here's why...
He's been a clerk before.
He's alrady an elected official with name recognition in N. Hemp.
He's a well groomed, polite, smart, and ITALIAN male.
Yup, He'll win.
We'll win the primary over the NCDC candidate. Thats just a given.
Then he'll win over sweeney b/c she's a woman. Rocky is ponna pull in lots of Republican votes in the Town of Hemp. And once everyone finds out he's not getting the NCDC support, He will also have the help as well as votes of all the people Suozzioli pissed off. Thats alot of votes.
The way I see it, He's got it in the bag. Rocco, It's yours, go get it!!!
If JJ can't see this, then he has absolutely no business being the chairman of the party. So J is gonna waste money on a primary against a guy that we know is gonna win when he could be using that money to help us keep the Legislature.
And I ask yet again, When the hell are we getting rid of JJ? What is taking so long??
"Then he'll win over sweeney b/c she's a woman."
Hey Buddy, Rocco would beat Sweeney, in spite of her gender. Women vote more often than men. And, women usually vote for women. Rocco would win against Sweeney because he is an elected official and has experience working in the public sector. NOT BECAUSE SHE'S A WOMAN.

If anyone knows: in which political job ( excuse me, let me re-phrase), how is Erin King-Sweeney currently employed and how has that job prepared her for the demanding position of Nassau County Clerk? Someone told me she works for an airline, which Daddy's Washington connections would be able to land, (so to speak). True?
It does look kinda bad that Ferrell works for Dennis Dillon and he's the one they say Jacobs cut a deal with.
Trishy
04-30-2005, 09:33 AM
Yes-Erin works for Air-Clinton.
Here's why Iannarelli will win.
He's a genuinely nice guy who works well with everyone. He makes you believe he cares and then he follows through.
I'll work against Galante and his fascist North Hempstead crew, but Iannarelli is unique.
Mondello should cross endorse him and save the bucks to unseat Yatauro.

Mondello need not use resources to work against Yaturo. Jay Jacobs is doing a good enough job to unseat Diane by allowing his party members to work for Martha Offerman and still be allowed to benifit on the Democratic party.

Why are they fascists?
Looks to me like whoever wrote the fascist comment is a tad jealous. Not a part of N. Hemp huh? Scared your gonna loose your race. They don't loose in N. Hemp.

Wasn't Erin King Sweeney one of those named in the petition filing cases filed by a Dem Committeeman after Denenberg's plea deal?
DId those cases go away? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?
The Dillon Deal
05-05-2005, 07:10 PM
The deal is to forget all Erin's bad stuff and get her elected--at no matter what the price. That means: helping Levinson in Hempstead, getting a weak candidate like Ms. Rice to run against him and getting a weak Dem candidate for County Clerk so that his buddy Peter King can have a daughter in elective office. Thats the deal boys n girls-----all for giving Peter Sylver a pass!

A Rocco victory in the Democratic primary for County Clerk will break the deal. So vote for Rocco and stick it to both Suozzi and Dillon!

Newsday checking on me? Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Anybody talk to Erin?
05-06-2005, 11:51 PM
Why would she even WANT that job? She's a good lawyer. I doubt she's actually even interested.
BOERED
05-07-2005, 09:58 AM
Newsday purportedly spoke with her.
With less than 5 years under her belt, its hard to call her a "good lawyer"although with her father's contacts its fair to say she has a bright future, even if she was a crummy lawyer.
As for her wanting the job, she'd be insane to run for it if her petitions are a bad as I've been led to believe.

Jay Jacobs has described Ms. Farrell as "delightful" in Newsday and "exciting" in The New York Times. Mr. Jacobs vocabulary need find better adjectives to justify why she should be Nassau County Clerk, but then again maybe there are none!

What is her title under Dillon and how much does she make? How did she get her job? Did Bob McDonald get her the job? Can any Democrat answer this? Thanks

She got so little mention in today's NY times (LI Section) article. You know why? Cause she's not for real and knows shes a joke candidate in exchange for a better jon next year. This is Denis Dillons' gal. Rocco stay the course!
Bob McDonald?

The strategy wasn't so bad but the execution was just that. Ms. Ferrell works for Dennis Dillon(how uterlly transparent), but were not supposed to believe she is part of the master plan, nor is Bob McDonald(where did he come from). The Democratic Chairman cuts a deal where the Democrat is supposed to loose. DUH...shouldn't he be replaced?

There are two Bob McDonalds, the BPS scandel Bob McDonald and the second Bob McDonald, an attorney in mineola and co-chairman of the Nassau County Democratic Party.

Please don't give Bob McD that much credit. Smart guy but there was no connection between the Dillon deal and Denenberg. Dave D's plea deal was worked out by his attorneys while Jay and Bob did the
Dillon fiasco on their own.
This clerk deal stinks. This girl is a neophyte and Rocco has been loyal and done all that has been asked. This is what happens though when the North Hemp Dems lost power after the DiNapoli/Suozzi thing. There is no one in the top levels of the party from TONH despite the fact that the party can't win county wide without them. There are many women and minorities in the TONH that can fill this slot

The word I'm getting is that many active North Hempstead Democrats are outraged at how Rocco is being treated. Many are spreading the word NOT to carry Farrell's petitions; and to substitute ROCCO's in their place. JJ and Suozzi are said to be marshaling Notary Publics to carry petitions for Farrell. This is an embarassment waiting to happen and JJ and Suozzi may end up nominating Rocco and giving Farrell a judgeship to save face. The Suozzi/DiNapoli bad blood continues! STAY TUNED!

The 2001 Race was not a landslide race. The Reps put up no contest and the Democratic Candidates united under Tom Suozzi.
CE Suozzi won because there were strong candidates throughout the ticket. If you think after all these primaries or not, the neophytes chosen to run are going to bring Suozzi votes, well guess again.
2001-CE Suozzi won because of the strength of the ticket and the enthusiasm of the party.
2005-Neophytes throughout the ticket and no enthusiasm for the race. This doesn't equal a landslide. Republican voters still out-number Democratic Voters. Add some disgruntled committee people and I don't think 2005 is such a safe bet.

Hhe is running the party like the mob. Rocco is being challeged to punish him and his friends in NH. JJ and TS still can't get over the DiNapoli primary and will use his friends when they need to but will limit their power at the same time. The last thing they want is a "DiNapoli loyalist" in a high level postition they do not control.
Its time for the NH leadership to stand up to these thugs. Let them try and fire JG or LA and the others currently working their rein of terror. Stop this leadership run with a "culture of intimidation.
Joe stand behind Rocco in this fight and dare them to do anything to you and other people who follow you. If they do, run for chair in September. You would win easily. Its called leadership and everyone is waiting for you to lead them.
You got their %$%& in a draw. Not the other way around. Its time to slam it shut.
And we will once and for all be rid of these reckless jokers who are destroying our party.

Why don't you just go to the minority community and let them know they've been fooled. This was never about ticket balancing, or even getting a black woman elected. Jacobs and Suozzi could care less if Ms. Ferrell looses. All they wanted to say was they ran a person of color. They think based on that, they've already achieved their stated goal. The minority community should be outraged that probably a person who could be electable someday is being used for Suozzi's fodder today.

One person who will be working for Rocco knows every detail on what they did to Dot Goosby. Expect the obuses the party did in her primary to be exposed in Rocco's to prevent the same from happening.
If I were Jay or Tom I would prevent a primary and just allow Rocco to run. Believe me when I tell you the minority community will be totally outraged when they hear what the party leaders did to prevent one of their leaders from running for office.
Its nice to see that at least one person thinks CS is a valuable asset, you must have been his cell mate? With the turbulence within the democratic party Rocco cannot afford any bad press, CS could pose a problem for Rocco just by association.

FIRST TIME EVER
05-16-2005, 06:45 PM
Come meet Trisha Ferrell for the first time this week. Not only will there be great excitement in the air over her candidacy, but people in the Democratic Party will get to meet someone they have never heard of before, never seen before, and has never been involved as a Democrat before.
It took Tom Suozzi 22 minutes at a cocktail party to find Peter Sylver.
It took Mr. Jacobs less than that to select Ms. Ferrell.
Even Mrs. King Sweeny couldn't be happier. It took a Democratic Chairman to deliver her victory.

Garry will use his postion to prevent you form gaining ballot access. Luckly some of the people he has used in the past are no longer at the BOE. They still have many friends there and can let you know if anything fishy starts up. Maybe you should have them expose the abuses prior to filing petitions to prevent anything from happening.
Clip thier wings before they have a chance and try and clip yours.

Why do people keep claiming that the Bar Association is investigating people. The Bar Association has no power to investigate anyone. It doesn't admit people to practice law, and it doesn't discipline them. It is a private organization, not an arm of the State. Lawyer discipline is done by the Disciplinary Committee in each Judicial Department, under the control of the Appellate Division.

Last week was very interesting. After floating the name of Erin King Sweeney as a trial balloon, Fat Joe and the boys on Post Avenue found out that her candidacy (done as a favor to Papa Pete and godfather Dennis Dillon), would reopen the Dennenberg petition scandal. The fact that the GOP pulled her name back means lovely Erin will never be a candidate for ANY office for the forseeable future, lest the petition mess be reopened. If Erin was the candidate, Trisha Ferrel getting the Democratic nomination would spark cries of a Suozzi-Dillon cabal. Now that that is not the case, and the Republicans are running a very seasoned candidate in Maureen O'Connell, the Ferrel ccandidacy needs to be reviewed. O'Connell is a political pro: she ran two very competitive races for North Hempstead Supervisor and has won 5 races for the State legislature. North Hempstead Democrats still shake their heads at how close O'Connell came in 1997 to taking out May Newberger. She is both a licensed nurse as well as a real property attorney. Against such a powerful opponent, you cannot run a political newcommer. Rocco Ianarelli, a proven vote getter and administrator, can beat Assemblywoman O'Connell. Taking back the County Clerk would be a feather in Suozzi's cap that will be recognized statewide-- under his leadership 4 of the 5 Nassau County-wide officials went from Republican to Democrat. Rocco will win, Ferrell will lose! A Rocco primary victory over Ferrell will be an embarassment to Team Suozzi-- an embarassment they cannot afford. Look for a nomination deal before the County Democratic convention.

Could Rocco be making a good move by running a primary for county clerk? Or could it be a bad move?
The sad irony of a Rocco candidacy for County Clerk is that he would be linked to Suozzi running on a county-wide ticket, even if he triumphs in a primary over a Suozzi backed County Clerk Candidate. A strong Italian-American presence on the Democratic line would be achieved in a race in which the GOPers are running an Irish and ethnically non-descript ticket. This could lead some Italian-American voters to vote Democratic.
Rocco does, however, run the risk of a revolt if a Suozzi scandal were to blow up sometime in the summer or around election time. A Suozzi scandal could undermine Rocco by association, as a fellow Democrat.
Sanity need not apply...
05-22-2005, 11:47 PM
This was never about winning County Clerk. This was about Dennis Dillon and his wishes, this was about getting back at DiNapoli, this was about putting North Hempstead in its place, and when all else failed it was about fooling black folk that Jacobs and Suozzi cared.
No there will be no deal. Jacobs and Suozzi got what they wanted several weeks ago, when they hit black gold and fooled the minority community... again.
No deal - just another loss around them to keep Suozzi King.
Rocco will win. Look for O'Connell to concentrate her mailings and signage in her assembly district.
Dante's Inferno
05-23-2005, 07:09 PM
...Or look for her to concentrate her mailings and appearances in Balboni's SENATE District; she would be the GOP nominee if Senator Mike gives up his seat and makes an ill-advised statewide run for Attorney General in 2006.
...Or look for her to concentrate her mailings and appearances in Balboni's SENATE District; she would be the GOP nominee if Senator Mike gives up his seat and makes an ill-advised statewide run for Attorney General in 2006.
I think not. If Balboni moves on, look for Johnson to beat O'Connell. Tough race, but a squeaker for the Democrats.
not with the demographics in that district. Don't forget Balboni's senate seat has solid republican communities like Elmont, Franklin Square and Hicksville in it. Furthermore, Johnson is not known outside his district in Port Wash, and he seems to be making no effort to lay the ground work for a senate run. In the end Maureen wins, she already has proven herself a winner with her large vicitories for her Assembly seat.

Oh please. The large victories come from the gerrymandered voter registration, not her prowess. DiNapoli's got the same gig. Both are popular, but couldn't lose if they tried.
That's correct, and her new gerrymandered district has very little of North Hempstead or the Senate District in her Assembly District. And her run for Supervisor is ancient history.

She's a nice woman, but has no idea what she's getting into. Rocco can easily outclass her at the convention if he tries.

Dillon's DA's Office has a rule: If you are seeking the nomination for political office other than Judge, you MUST resign from the office. Just ask Joe Scannell, who had to resign in 1999 when he accepted the Democratic County Legislative nomination against Tom Glynn. My question then is: is Ferrell still on payroll at the Nassau DA's Office? If not, at what venue is she currently employed? Of course, all this would be easier if she actually went before community groups and introduced herself and entertained questions; has she sat down before the NEWSDAY Editorial Board for Q&A? Why has their been no photos of her released by the Democratic County Committee? Or can it be that they've come to their senses and will nominate Rocco? Hmmm....

We here in Philly like our cream cheese (with chives) and we like our hometown republican attorney, Kathleen "Brown" Rice.
Prediction for the Democratic Primary:
Rocco will carry the Sourthern Tier of North Hempstead: NHP, GCP, Williston Park, Mineola, East Williston and Albertson. DiNapoli will support Rocco but it won't be too successful
Weitzman and Kaiman will tip Great Neck and Port Washington to Ferrell as both are tied in very deep with Suozzi and Jacobs. We should all remember that Kaiman leap frogged over A LOT of people for the Supervisor's job.
Suozzi and Jacobs will work Glen Cove and the 18th big time as well as Long Beach and the Five Towns. People forget the strength of the 13th, 18th, and 20th Assembly Districts. All of them having been Democratic strongholds for years.
Final Outcome:
Rocco loses 45 - 55 with the Democrats keeping their sacrifical lamb on the ticket and keep all their money for Suozzi and Weitzman.

Obviously you're not one of the many Democrats whose job was threatened by JJ like mine, or who were forced not to be given the choice of petitions, or have to got to a wasteful fundraiser for a kid who at best works for Dennis Dillon for the past five years.
There is such a hatred for Jay Jacobs on this one, we're just waiting to get into the voting booths(were he can't control us) to vote for Rocco.
The whole county committee knows this and can't wait. Not even close -
Rocco demoralizes Trisha 75/25 in a blowout.
Rocco takes NH,LB,OB(where Suozzi is not trusted), H(where Jay is mis-trusted for not picking a quality black) and even GC where all those Italians are goin for one of their own.

I think its facinating that NEWSDAY--whose legal counsel is Meyer,Suozzi--by the way, hasn't seen fit to publish a photograph and interview of Trish, as they did with Rice. Could it be the "Pinelawn Avenue politboro" is concerned that once she is out of the bubble and made to answer questions about herself, her qualifications, her background and administrative ability, she will melt like an ice cream cone at Jones Beach in August? Is Trish activly campaigning? What is her appearance schedule--Id like to see her in person? Anyone?

Four years ago when Jacobs could have supported a more than qualified Sharon Comisiong(a black woman) he did nothing, and gave nothing, other than trying to fire her two years later. Oh and if you want to really know what Jacobs thinks about Black Women ask Barbara Patton and Dorothy Goosby.
Sharon Comissiong is a moron. And the only reason she got an appointment to the Third District Court is because her significant other, Deputy County Executive Art Gianelli, threatened to leave Suozzi and the sad thing is he's about as good as they have for the financial stuff. Pretty scary that the man who used smoke and mirrors to distract North Hempstead taxpayers from the fact that we had a $46 million judgement leveled against us is the financial guru for Nassa County.

Please know that this post could only have come from your typical GOP brainwashed faithful. THE MULTIMILLION DOLLAR JUDGEMENT WAS DUE TO INCOMPETENCE AND LACK OF FORESIGHT FROM YEARS OF REPUBLICAN RULE IN NORTH HEMPSTEAD. This is not an opinion. This is not a point that can be argued. Remember, though you guys may now hate him, Mrs. Newberger's predecessor Zwirn was a DEMOCRAT. And the problems were addressed with tax hikes. Dems are the facts, lying Democrats.

Hey, I've got news for you, the NH GOP did have a plan, it was called a safe burning incinerator. The problem was Snoozeday allowed itself to be duped by the NIMBYs and saw the chance to elect a democrat and jumped all over it. Today there are 922 towns in the state of New York, North Hempstead has 10% of the TOTAL DEBT OF ALL THE TOWNS IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. You're gonna tell me the Republicans didn't have a plan. They did and it involved making money by selling the electricity the incinerator created to LILCO. Funny thing was Zwirn and Newsday both said after the '89 election, "Gee, the solid waste plan was pretty good. We should look into it and maybe pursue it." The only problem, Zwirn was beholden to Port Washington and the rest is history and red ink in North Hempstead's accounting books

Wow. You people really believe everything your leaders tell you. The incinerator was a big reason the R's lost because it was a terrible idea and didn't belong anywhere near this community. The garbage money ran out and the geniuses running the Town never planned for any other viable revenue stream (and god forbid the R's would have the balls to actually keep taxes in line with inflation and demand with small steady increases). There are 932 Towns in NYS, not 922, and your 10% figure is patently wrong. Any report you can find detailing town debt in NY will also include special districts in that equation because they bond under the Town's flag. 1/3 of North Hempstead's debt is from special districts. While it is the Town's responsibility to approve special district bonding, they would need a damn good reason to outright deny such a request, and saying taxes are too high isn't a good enough reason. You think the Town can just go ahead and deny a sewer district's request to bond for state mandated capital projects or a Park District's bond to bring their playgrounds into ADA compliance? Stop the madness please. Oh, and read this...

They know that about 95% of the people who walked your petitions will be voting for Rocco. Thats a fact. And they will have their friends and family do the same. He has none. Remember she was originally put up so King's daughter could win. Rocco spoiled this plan. Now "Mean Suozzi" will do anything to prevent Rocco, the best candidate, from making it past the primary.
When will ever one get it. Its not about electing Democrats. Its about running candidates who fight into the sick Suozzi/Jacobs plans. Winning is not always their objective. Promoting their agenda is and it has noting to do with building a better party or running the best candidates.

No. They will give her money-say $30-50k run her to put a good show on and then win or lose, the Dem candidate in November will get NO PARTY SUPPORT. It;'s all about Suozzi positioning himself against SPitzer now. Thats it. And thats all. NOBODY GETS SUPPORT. Only a handful of ass-kissing legilsators.
NC does not need a Erin King Sweeney.

Waste Fraud and abuse she says. Was she talking about Economic Development, Parks, Information Tech, County Attoney's office, or the Board of elections. I guess she is silent on those.
These are true examples of "waste, fraud, and abuse" but Ferrell complains about a Department Head thats works at home on weekends. I guess she believes county records should be kept confidential.
Then I have a question for Ms. Ferrell. How did her campaign manager happen to walk into the Board of Elections and obtain her opponents petitons only minutes after he and his supporters left the building after filing said petitions. I guess it was ESP.
Or maybe Ms. Ferrell was acting in concert with others who illegally provided her information about documents submitted to a county agency. What she is accusing Ms. Murphy of doing is not as egregious an offense as her own campaign (and maybe herself) had committed.
