Man shot in Wyandanch, gunmen on the loose

(06/23/10) WYANDANCH

Officials say a man was shot on the street in Wyandanch last night and the gunmen are still on the loose.

Police say 26-year-old Willie Freeman was walking on Lake Drive near Jefferson Avenue just before 11 p.m. when two men got out of a white car and shot Freeman in the leg.

Officials say both men got away. Freeman is expected to be OK.

What was Levy when he voted to give the Suffolk County Sheriffs binding arbitration when he was up in Albany, you know the very same binding arbitration he cries about when the cops end up with 3.5% rather then the 2% that he agreed to then took off the table. You know the same cops that will be back on the eway and sunrise come this nov. because Levy lost that Perb decision. You have a 2700 cop department, plus civilian staff that together provides you with 24/7 public safety services. It's by all (credible) accounts a professionally staffed, competent, trained department with no history of organized misconduct or corruption. It was leaner than similar sized departments long before Levy took office. Not bad for little more than you pay for your 1 hamlet volunteer f ire department.
