One of the posters on another thread wondered out loud about the apparent love affair between Newsday and Spota. Assuming most posters in the Police Issue Board are cops and assuming most of us feel the same way about Newsday's 'love' for cops and other law enforcement, it is no surprise that the paper would be a friend of a hard charging DA. That is the kindest description I can give him at this time.
I think the answers are very simple. Yes, it does appear that Newsday has departed from their usual cop bashing when it comes to the DA. The question is why.
I think that is very simple. Spota gives them a lot of ink and Newsday loves it!!! All you hear coming out of Spota's office is arrests and investigations into corrupt pols. It is newsworthy and people will buy an already struggling paper to read those stories.
For as long as Spota can keep feeding them stories people will read then he will remain a 'favorite' of that newspaper.
