Falsifying Time Sheets

Does anyone have any information on County workers falsifying time sheets? There is a Suffolk County Worker who puts in for a full days work and goes home. Management knows about if but does nothing. I've seen paperwork that verifies this. This person signs out at 9 am, that she's going to Hauppauge, but never makes it there. If Management knows about it and gives this person their blessing, why should anyone else charge their time? The sign out sheet has at least 25 lines signed with just her name. Every other day she signs herself out and leaves. Apparently the Commissioner of the Department is protecting her for some reason. She's a Levy Democrat. Not very high up, I think a grade 23. We got hold of info from Hauppauge that verifies she wasn't there. We're just lowly clerical, and don't know who to take this up with. It's very frustrating. Our boss keeps telling us to leave it alone.

So apparently a lot of people do this all the time. Problem here is she's not a nice person. She's caused more trouble in the time I've been there, then Jack the Ripper. I just don't get it. She's got this insulated bubble and no one wants to touch her. She points fingers at other people and my boss told her she's got a good thing going, she should really try to not complain about other people so much, or it might ruin it for her. Everyone just sits there with their mouths open. We have to charge time for 10 minutes. We all take some time here and there if we can get away with it. But it's difficult. I'm talking about full days. At least three full days a week. At least. There was a month that she would sign in and leave daily. She's got to have something on somebody. We just can't figure out what it is.

Welcome to Levy's "reform" political machine. If you want to kill the king, you better make sure that you will do it in one shot. Get a black and white marbled notebook and keep track of it. Note things like dates, times who was privy to her stealing especially bosses. Stay late when no one else is around and photocopy the sign in log and any time/attendance sheets she may have. If your boss keeps stats on how productive or unproductive each employee is get copies of those documents also. Annual performance evaluations are good also. NOTE OF CAUTION- If you use the county photo copy machine and bring this information to light the county will threaten to indict you for "stealing" the use of county equipment for your own uses. Photo copy all of these and mail copies to the DA, County Exec. Commissioner of the Dept. you work for, NYS attorney generals office and newsday. Make sure your cover letter has a cc: block listing everyone you have sent it to. So as not to look soft in the face of all of these other entities someone will have to do something. Make sure you wear gloves when you handle the photocopies and the envelopes they are sent in. Don't lick the envelope flap and remember to bring the envelopes into lets say Nassau County for mailing. Make sure you lay low and NEVER tell anyone you work with you are doing this. Not your best friend you work with who is your childs godmother even. Welcome to my subversive world. Verrry interesting. Well I work in a Haup office run by drunks. at least a couple of times a week they go out for three hour lunches -and - if they come back, its obvious there in the bag. at least they don't use a county car.......................anymore

It's Fraud plain and simple. Heads could roll if this is documented and can be proven. Anyone who says to mind your own business and look the other way is probably cheating the system as well. The problem is that the lowest guy on the totem pole is the one who'll get whacked and the bigger guys who are protecting this bimbo will walk away and deny everything.
