wrong perhaps i am whatever and i am using some yiddish as a exclamation point. i feel in general the denizens of l i are quite arrogant in general, most are so self centered, if most of the cops hired on li are from the local gene pool, they certainly have the same dominant gene for arrogance.

The cops at the Sixth are the best. If you want to see some unprofessional and rogue cops, go to Port Washington.

That fact that the 'clientele' police deal with can be azzholes does not mitigate the fact that police officers should ALWAYS remain professional.

If a police officer cannot act civil and professionally, then he should not be a police officer....for his poor attitude serves to demean the handful of officers who do perform their duties in a manner consistent with their training and professionalism.

Anyone who doesnt walk around smiling and laughing is considered arrogant. cops should be unbiased, aloof, impartial, stoic, above it all. On this Island that kind of personality leads to complaints, people want the cops to be as personable as their bmw dealer

Funny aint it? Only cops are expected to act like human beings, everyone else seems to think they are entitled to be animals.
We should all be civil and decent to each other, than the police would be out of employment.

I find this intriguing,last year I had the honor of sitting on a jury for a trial inn riverhead. We were told by the Judge, Da annd defense atty. that a officers testimony is no different than a civilians, carries no more weight or importance, that police arent above the rest of us, but exactly the same. They arent held to any higher standard or expectations in the eyes of the court, maybe you've overestimated the importance of the police in our society, its just another job in the eyes of most.
