Another out of towner is tapped as the standard bearer for the Democratic Party for DA? What's her payoff for a suicide run against a candidate the Democrats themselves wished to endorse? A shot at State Supreme in 2006 with heavy support on the ticket from Clinton and Spitzer?

Substitute JJ for Catiline and this could have been written today instead of 69BC

WHEN, O Catiline, do you mean to cease abusing our patience? How long is that madness of yours still to mock us? When is there to be an end of that unbridled audacity of yours, swaggering about as it does now? Do not the mighty guards placed on the Palatine Hill- do not the watches posted throughout the city- does not the alarm of the people, and the union of all good men- does not the precaution taken of assembling the Senate in this most defensible place- do not the looks and countenances of this venerable body here present, have nay effect upon you? Do you not feel that your plans are detected? Do you not see that your conspiracy is already arrested and rendered powerless by the knowledge which everyone possess of it? What is there that you did last night, what the night before- where is it that you were- who was there that you summoned to meet you- what design was there which was adopted by you, with which you think that anyone of us is unacquainted?[/i]

Seems there's nothing new in politics under the sun

Rice runs and loses and puts up big big money next year to run for State Supreme Ct. She may be asked to put up as much as $100,000. Kouril had very little $$$$$$$$$$. Someone else came along-pledged some bucks and bought in. That simple, right everyone?

wrong- Kouril was offered a judgeship this year to give up her futile race in favor of the better funded and better qualified candidate- kouril turned down like a screaming child claiming that "she called it first" and the DA race should be hers despite her proven inability to raise money and her total lack of quALIFICATIONS

so wrong

You are so wrong. Kouril is no "screaming child". Kouril refused to be part of a back room deal. Whether she wins or whether she loses, Kouril will not aquiece to or condone political corruption. She had no choice, but to stay in the race if she wished to maintain her integrity.

Kouril is running to be the chief law enforcement officer of the county. Integrity is crucial in that office. Why would anybody want a DA, Rep or Dem, who engages in corrupt backroom deals.

Even if she loses the election, Kouril wins because she has maintained her integrity will have gone down fighting for what she believed in. Kouril is not politics as ususal.

if it is corrupt for party leaders to support the better qualified candidate and the better funded candidate then I as a party leader do not understand my role if it is not to support the most qualified candidate who is in the best position to win- Kouril is an unqualified, unfunded , uncharismatic pretender- she could not beat Dillon and anyone who really knows the inside story knows that I want to beat Dillon. Winning with a candidate that we can proud to support is the only agenda- the offer to Kouril was made to avoid the potential cost of a primary so that the campaign funds could be used against Dillon. By the by-rumor has it that Kouril does not ev en have enough signatures or support to qualify her for the primary.

and drones on and on. Tedious comments by a tedious woman. If she gets on the ballot the party should tell her about all the upcoming events and let her speak. She will bore so many people to tears that she will lose by a tremendous margin.
