Two strikes on Desmond thus far as his nnnnn year on the Bellmore School Board approaches, and it's not good news for taxpayers!

Strike 1 - Board Seat Reduction Proposition passed yes, thank goodness it was long overdue (one less corrput trustee with his fingers in the till) but it's passage was not due to any assitance from Mr. Desmond, who claimed to be too busy with fire department business to advocate its passage.

He went native - supporting the school board against the community on this issue and not lifting a finger to help!

Strike 2 - Election Night Parking Debacle. With cars lined up along every square foot of the Shore Road Elementary School building, Fire Chief/School Board Trustee Desmond arrived on the scene! What did he do about this obvious fire hazard, nothing! Nada! Zilch. He did however quickly avail himself of the pastries and beverages placed out for the undistinquished, high-taxing, lax overseeing members of the school board! Seems this guy likes to be well accepted by his superior peers emenating their wisdom from posh estates located south of the Merrick's Road!

Desmond's gone native - letting a few donuts get in the way of his responsibility to protect the inhabitants of a school building when he sees fire hazards with his own blinded eyes!

So far, one year down, 2 to go....calls for his resignation are already starting to climb!

Lets clear the air on mis-information posted on the last post. Trustee Desmond is not a Fire Chief in the Bellmore Fire department and has not been a member of the department for over 1-1/2 year. There are many faces to blame for the fire hazard/overcrowding you suggest and no doubt witnessed the night of elections.

There was a Chief's car there that night MINE. and I had to park 3 blocks away to attend my sons open house which the board convienently schedules every year to boost voter turnout, which I guess decreases the possibility of voter apathy which is never good in a election. Not to mention the fact that many parents were pressed to either vote or attend there childrens open house do to the 45- min to 1 hour wait to vote!!!!

When you have a school that has barely enough parking for its staff then you add parents of 600-700 children, school election officials, and teachers what can we expect.

I had a conversation with several employees of the school and explained my distaste for this practice and the hazards it creates. This will be addressed in the near future. Something as small as an ambulance would not have been able to get within 300-400' he school entrance not to mention a piece of fire apparatus.
