can you live in any other town and still join Hauppauge fire dept?

i think hauppage covers part of anthor town i would think you could live in hauppage or on the boarder of it. you have to check with the dept each dept has there own set of rules

If you are truly interested in becoming a member of Hauppauge stop by fire Headquarters during the day or call 265-2499 ext 111 and leave a message. A Chief officer or a member of the recruitment committee will get back to you and go over all the requirements with you. Please do not apply if you are not ready to give up your time to learn how to be a firefighter, respond to the calls and make the commitment to our community

Yes, they cover parts of Hauppauge, Islip/East Islip, Woodbury, and a few blocks of Asharoken/Lloyd Harbor area. They also are sometimes activated for calls on the border of Island Park, along with Oceanside FD. Hope this helps.

Seriously?! If the kid wants information on joining a volunteer agency, in this case Hauppauge, then I don't understand why people have to post comments contrary to what he/she asked. Two main questions: 1) Do you have to live in Hauppauge? Answer: Probably, contact the phone number listed in prior posts and ask. 2) What districts/communities does Hauppauge cover? Answer: Primarily the town of Hauppauge, however like any other Fire Department on the Island, Hauppauge has the possibility of responding to any incident large enough requiring additional fire apparatus or manpower for the sake of protecting ANY community or area. Good Luck with your application, and if you can't join because you don't live in Hauppauge's District, then I recommend you contact the FD in your district. Members are always needed everywhere at every agency. Thank You for Helping our community

arent you looking to join a department, if so how would you know that some dont want to be bothered, sure their are individuals that are lazy and dont care but, an entire department, i doubt. i can not tell if your stiring the shit pot or if you are being ignortant.

You join the department in the district you live in, case closed, give back to your community. You dont go interviewing fire departments to find the best for you, they interview you.

On a side note, departments do not send you for training, you are trained by the department as per there standards, an you are required to go to the suffolk county fire academy to take class room sessions followed a final exam which is followed by hands-on sessions. This is a requirement so that a member may move up from probationary status to class A. (However each department has a set time it must be done in (most give extensions) and how long a member must be a probationary member regardless of passing county)


PLEASE< if you know nothing about the firedepartment, do not talk about it. just ask questions and be humble.
