Democrats & the Long Island Marathon

I have watched the Long Island marathon for years and always saw the parkway swept for the event. This I imagine was to to clear dangerous objects from the road.

In addition, the entrance ramps to the parkway were always closed using NYS DOT trucks.

Were the NYS elected officals asked to support this event? If they were not asked, why not? If they were asked, why did they not provide support as in the past?

Anyone out there with some answers?

It is the responsibility of the organizers and promoters to arrange all that stuff.
