105K a Yeer. They work hard for the money? Seems half the patrol tour is spent in a firehouse somewhere. Especially at night when their all bitchin that theres no one on patrol to back em up. Back each other up. Get off the fire house couch, put on your gun belts and go to work. I don't have any sympathy for the so called hard working Finest in Suffolk County. Once in a while they DO work hard, or Do have a dangerous run. But facts are facts ost of their patrol time is spent writing your mother and my mother a summons for rollinga stop sign somewhere. And thats done with a poor attitude too. The only cops in Suffolk who know anything about being a good patrol officer are the ones that left the NYPD for more money. As for the rest of them, THEY SUCK.

I TOTALLY AGREE THAT THE SCPD ARE NOTHING BUT EMPTY BLUE SUITS. THEY ARE WORTHLESS SACKS OF SHIT THAT DO NOTHING BUT GLORIFIED SECURITY GUARD WORK. THE BEST IS, WHEN THEY'RE NOT SLEEPING AND YOU SEE THE COPS IN THE FD'S AND THEY GET CALLED ON THE RADIO. THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THE CALL AND THEN RESPOND 20 MINUTES LATER. I'VE SEEN COPS GET FUCKING HAIRCUTS WHILE WORKING, ETC. THEY SHOULD SWAP SALARIES WITH THE NYPD. THOSE GUYS BREAK THEIR ASS DRIVING TO WORK 2 HOURS EACH WAY AND THEN AN 8 HOUR SHIFT. banned THE SCPD!

I belive very strongly that its time to reconsider the need for the County Police.

Perhaps we should have a revote on the 1959 decision to form the SCPD?

Beside the fact, you ignorant little troll, that I am called into neighboring sector I cannot drive from one end of my sector to the other in less than 5 minutes, how fast am I going to walk?
If I actually took you as a credible, sane person suppose I was 3 minutes into walking and received a dispatch for a emergency in my neighboring sector? 3 minutes back to the patrol car, 6-7 minutes driving, that is just foolish.
This is the suburbs and some areas are rural, you want foot patrol go live in a city. We do not function that way.

Reading this, I'm shocked that the average joe feels he is such an expert to advise how to run a county pd. This isnt the city. We cannot foot patrol a area as large as my sector which is only maybe 1/2 the size of sprawl of the trolls' sector, with 15,000 citizens. If we had such a stupid policy lets say I'm in the heart of my sector, and get a call of a emergency, possible heart attack, in a adjoining sector about 4 miles away,I have to walk back to my car and then drive there? dont forget we have ALL our emt gear in our trunks, oxygen, defibrillator, etc.
Better yet I walk past a crime in progress, the guy sees me and runs, or fights, now EVERY officer responding to help me has to run back to their cars and drive into my sector to assist me?
Then if I catch him We,(Me and the perp) have to walk back to the patrol car?
Tell you what, when you are running for commisioner or chief of police bring your wonderful ideas to the table and see what happens to you. Otherwise stick to whatever it is you actually do for a living.I've been a cop for over 12 years, did desert storm, and have a degree in criminal justice. I in no way feel with my experience that I could run a police dept. I find it incredulous that so many people think they know all the answers and are experts, without ever doing the job.

Don't know about your Firehouse but we lost the privledge of having the sector cops change shifts at our fire house due to A'holes that made false complaints about the PD. Firehouses are public building whether you want to admit it or not and PD should be allowed to stop off to eat with the FD people they work with daily or use the head if they need to. Maybe you think it would be better if they pulled to the side of the road and pee'd . Use your head and stop your bitchin - the PD and FD have worked together for years and by them not being in the firehouses that working relationship goes down the tubes.

best thing to do is inform dispatch you'll be taking your meal out of sector, either at another firehouse or at the pct. then when they attempt to pull you from your meal for an emergency call, you will be too far away to answer. let your neighboring cars know whats up, they should understand. this will usually fix that problem quickly.
