View Full Version : Newsday Again Attacks Anyone Against Overdevelopment
Newsday's Outrageous Lies
03-17-2005, 07:08 PM
Republicans and even some Democrats who feel skyscrappers are better off in New York City then in middle of Long Island are beginning to feel the wrath of a corrupt and viscious newspaper.
Calling people's motive as racist for trying to stop the urbanization of Nassau County is grounds to boycott this paper.
So many good people have been slandered by this newspaper which sees fit to lie about their actual subscription numbers, that the chickens may finally be coming home to roost.
Whether you live in Farmingville, Farmingdale, Nassau County or in Huntington this newspaper has done all it can to influence events their way. If it means they must slander, lie, threaten, ignore, censor, coerce etc they will do it.
silly willy

do nothing suozzi

suozzi is all talk and has not gotten anything done and has hampered the workers from doing their real jobs.
its a mess in Nassau
he's got a plan, and lots of them, but has not accomplished a thing (19% tax hike, a good economy and low interest rates got him out of the finance problem)
face reality

The second in command at Newsday is stepping down. Nobody has said why Mr.Mceon is leaving. He was responsible for have many of the departments report to him except the news and editorial staff.
Maybe if newsday changed their news staff with some honest unbiased reporters and journalists and revamped their editorial board to be fair and without malice the paper could recover.
Then again does a pig fly :?: :)
newsday corrupt but not stupid, they know that overdevelopment and illegal immigration go hand in hand

And what's so bad about some overdevelopment?
Nothing As Long As Your Breasts
There is still no legitimate rival to Newsday in Nassau. They pretty much run the show with the home delivery market, although it is nice to see the Post making a run. Still though...they can put anything they want to out there with impunity...there is no other news outlet out there to challenge them legitimately, nor is there anything that can be done to punish them. The paper has zero integrity because nobody ever calls them on their bs.

In their editorial today newsday comes out in favor of affordable housing for illegal aliens.
This should go over real big in Mexico and central America.
I would imagine millions are getting ready to come over now and look for that housing.
Forget that we don't have affordable housing even for native born citizens Newsday wants us to build them for illegal aliens.
Another major reason Newsday is no good for Long Islanders. Here's their editorial:
This is what's 'affordable'
Islip eviction mess shows what kind of housing is open to working poor

The decrepit Islip apartment complex condemned recently by overzealous town officials is what passes for affordable housing on Long Island.
That the mostly working-poor residents of Fairwood Gardens were rousted unnecessarily and just as suddenly allowed to return - to much the same - only adds insult to the injury of having few if any alternatives but to live this way. Long Island must do better.
Whether it's keeping closer tabs on slumlords before apartments become dangerous and infested or it's encouraging the construction of more lower-cost rental units, officials must do more to protect the thousands of people who have no clout at town halls and can't afford any better - even working full-time at low wage jobs.
Ironically, considering how badly it has handled the case of Fairwood Gardens, Islip has been a leader among the towns in the creation of lower-cost housing. It has worked with the Long Island Housing Partnership and other groups to build homes that families with little money saved or earned can afford.
But no town has done enough to increase the stock of below-market rental units for people who can't even qualify for subsidized down payments and mortgages. Economically and morally, this is a must. Long Island needs these workers, regardless of their economic or immigration status, and they deserve to live safely and humanely.
Meanwhile, Islip town officials should not be able to simply say, "Oops!" and not be held accountable. Many questions remain unanswered. Supervisor Peter McGowan last week went into seclusion following the defeat of his favored candidates in Tuesday's town council primary.
Questions remain: For instance, why was the building suddenly condemned after the conditions - from cockroach infestations and broken fixtures to a lack of smoke detectors - apparently had lingered for a long time? And forgive us for being suspicious, but were town officials trying to help remove an eyesore to make it more attractive for a developer to build condos next door?
Local, state and federal investigators must get answers. And Long Island must build more affordable housing.
***Newsday bears a great responsibility for this illegal immigration fiasco. :x
