what the hell is going on lately? major fights and now cops at our school ( and im talking sector cops not COPE) the school is now overrun with trash and the security gaurds r useless- not that they ever did anything before....why can kids get in fights and not get in trouble- the admins are letting them go with warnings because they know them so well. thank god i only have a half year left or id leave- this school just keeps getting worse

yea i have noticed it to also. Longwood used to be a great school and now with the trashy Gordon Heights and other trash it has gotten real bad. Security has just become so lazy and the administration is useless this year, It time to bring back Bozza and his crew because they got the job done. Recently there has been a rash of fights and i dont know the whole story on why they are happening but i know a kid who was in a fight is still in the school. It is time that the board take a step back and implement some new procedures because the high school has just gotten out of control

FYI - When my kids have games (Jr Hi) against Longwood, I cringe. The parents behave worse than their kids. Its disgusting and surely a bad example for all other kids who see and hear this. What a shame. And then they wonder why their little brats get in trouble? duhhhh

From what I've seen of this thread, it appears to me that there are good kids in that school that are facing a difficult situation. They are here probably looking for advice or information about how to address the problems of their school and you blast not only their community but also their peers and parents that have children there as well?

Is that really adult or helpful? Obviously, there are good kids in that building and all kids have a right to be safe in their school.

Like Mom always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything." Your post is demoralizing. Think before you speak.

I hope you bring your concerns to people who can act on them. good luck!

Didn't mean to offend anyone and I do feel sorry for the good and decent parents that are of that school.
My point is: That type of behavior should not be permitted or tolerated by the sports coaches or athletic director. By just ignoring it and allowing it to continue merely allows these antics to continue and perhaps escalate. Its called enabling.
The school staff should step in and be 100% backed up by the Administrators. And if they can't handle it, find some one(s) that can.

Agreed. Kids need support and the parents and community need to insist on compliance to school policies...indeed league policies as well. I am sure people are trying to get things in order, and I hope they succeed.

when all else fails blame it on the blacks from Gordon Heights. They are to the blame for the community going down, the school, and the pavement and the weather and the vandalism on the bus and the traffic

No one posted that so why are you trying to do that? Get a life

Actually the second post of the thread by junior2006 did.

"Longwood used to be a great school and now with the trashy Gordon Heights and other trash it has gotten real bad."

The part I don't get is when they say "NOW with the", like the heights JUST came along, they have ALWAYS been there.
It might be a great school but the TRASH has ALWAYS been there, always will be.

are we saying there is a connection between trash and the residents of Gordon Heights? If so, this is a racist comment.

Now how is that a racist comment ????

They said trash from Gordon Heights.

NO RACE WAS MENTIONED!!!!

Stop always trying to turn things into a race issue.

Gordon Heights is predominantly black. Thus the insinuation is that because of the black people the schools have gone to shit. You'd have to be in a coma not to see that.

LIKE IT IS

agreed. I dont' think there's any question on where the problems are. A spade is a spade folks. Poverty leads to lack of success in school which leads to crime whick leads to a devaluing of community. what leads to poverty? a clear and unmistakable lack of social mobilization for people of color.
