C'mon guys. You're being silly. No amount of phones calls to the wackiest of folks will prevent a primary or primaries. If you're so convinced that your guy is so good, you'd welcome primaries.

I'm not eager to see my guy have to primary to get the parties' nominations, but I'm up for it nonetheless.

What are you afraid of?

If you have to ask, then you don't need to know. Those who do need to know already got the point and know the author.

I do not have to ask trust me but primaries are costly and sometimes people get hurt that shouldn't and you have to remember we are on the same team that's why primaries at this level are not good if there was strong leadership we would not be talking about this

Who gets "hurt that shouldn't"?
Who should get hurt?

Dems primary often. They're a stronger party for it. Last-minute stealth candidates have no cause to complain when they face primaries.

GOP/Conservative voters deserve a voice.

Dems do not primary all the time. In 2009 there were 2 Dem primaries for Cty Leg no other Dem prim that year. In LD 2 a now federally convicted criminal who could not let go and LD 13 Pat M primaries every chance she gets. In LD 2 the turn out was 3.5%. In LD 13 which was a tight race and the person the Dems picked was not choosen, the turn out was a whopping 2.3%. At this level we do not count the Pres primary so no primary in 2008. 2007 Had one primary with a turn out of 81. I ask you are these races worth spending several or even 100's of thousand dollars for a choice, that 95% + do not care about. How many people do you know that think you are only supposed to vote every 4 years. And yes the Ind pty primaries all the time, read my last quote about strong leadership. As for " Last minute STEALTH candidates" maybe you should get all your info before you toss stones. AND TRUST ME THE WORD STEALTH WILL NOT DECRIBE THE CAMPAIGN. Hold on.

Last things first. Still waiting for the "Last minute stealth candidate" to make up his mind. Not holding on for anything or anyone.

As far as 95% not caring, I disagree with that number, but assuming arguendo I will trust the 5% of all GOP/Conservative voters before I trust 5 disingenuous GOP leaders any day.

Good night.

Primaries are a waste of time and more importantly tax money. The tax payers are paying for private politicial parties to sort out their internal squabbles. Primaries (and the current arcane election laws) keep people off the ballot, give political parties a stranglehold on elections and perpetuate the patronage system.
Suggestion -- There should be one election - a general - with candidates for an office that were able to get a certain number of petition signatures on the ballot. If a party wants one candidate on the ballot, then they can throw their weight behind him or her, otherwise anyone can run...

Maher was the Dem party candidate in no primary in 2001 for a TOH board seat and the 13th in 2005. Those offices are Republican seats for the time being. The Dems put everything they had against Pat Maher in 2009 and Maher won the primary. The final results were not that close for a party that put all its workers on the street.
