Denenberg whipped by Steve Who? You mean crazy Freddy P's secretary's son. Big Steve isn't even well regarded in his own Fire Department. This one isn't even a race, and the GOP isn't funding it. Maybe Freddie will spend some of his double dip on it, but while he's a cheap crazy b*stard, he's not crazy enough to p*ss good money away on a ridiculous race. Besides with Levinson running an attack campaign which will identify public officials holding down full time Town jobs and full time outside jobs, Freddie could have his own problems, and will probably have to work full time to save his own *ss, and that of Buster Brown. Oh year, Pete King still wants his hide. Sorry Diva - it aint gonna happen.

I don't know who is running the place, but there is Jaguar in the lot all day long, and it has to be Freddie's because the seat is pushed all the way forward, and Eddie Gaedel doesn't practice law.

like when you go to your county office. you put down your coat and lay a sweater on the chair. leave a briefcase on the desk and spread papers around. put the computer on. then pick up your other jacket and leave. the real briefcase is always in the car.

Law Partner

Maybe Parola's law partner was running the law office while Parola was off being county comptroller full time?

He died
03-15-2005, 05:39 PM
Ralph Marino died. Besides he'd have been too busy moving and shaking things around the county to run a law practice.

The other one was allegedly working in the assessor's office was the little one was working as the county comptroller and the last one was dead so yeah - who was running the full time law practice when these guys were working the county angle? Or vice versa.

Parola's Not Stupid
03-16-2005, 08:43 PM
Look health insurance is expensive, so Parola saved a ton of money for his lawfirm by having the tax payers pay for his and his partners. Face it. That's the American way.

TOHER
03-16-2005, 10:02 PM
Aren't they set-up with TOH jobs too now? OR is the TOH set-up with a law firm? It's hard to tell.

Health Insurance
03-18-2005, 02:46 PM
They still get free health insurance but at least they live in Nassau County and worked for the county for many years. More or Less. Suozzi's people are living outside Nassau County and working here maybe a year at most now just over 3 years. He's hired alot of older workers and the all get retroactive start dates adjusted back to when they first started working their other government jobs - like for NYC or NY county or NYS of the FEDS. That means, someone (like Peter Reinharz) who lives in Queens and was hired at 53, worked (a relative term) for Nassau County just 2 years - then he turns 55 - if he hasn't already - and NOW because of the retroactive adjustments that Meredith Feinman put in for everyone (which the Comptroller's Office approved) - NOW he gets LIFETIME FREE HEALTH INSURANCE FROM EMPIRE BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD WHICH THE NASSAU COUNTY TAXPAYERS WILL BE PAYING FOR FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE - and he lives in Queens. Is this a sick joke or what?

Life time health care vested for a couple of years in the County running departments (like Workers Compensation and Torts) for which he had little or no prior experience? Talk about senile delinquency!

:) First of all- Deneberg has to get re-elected as a Legislator. The truth of the matter is--he pled guilty to a misdemeanor. While some will say no big deal--the thing is voters are pretty smart and intelligent. They know he did something wrong (illegal) and pled guilty. They will remember that when they go behind the curtain. Denenberg could loose the legislative race. Therefore the race between Parola and Denenberg most likely will not occur.

Smart huh?
04-02-2005, 02:51 AM
If you think the typical voter is so smart how do you explain Suozzi?

I have talked with non-political voters. They think it was a partisan witch-hunt and not a big deal. They feel it was a technicality and a mistake. Denenberg will not be hurt and he may even be helped.

04-02-2005, 08:29 PM
If you think the typical voter is so smart how do you explain Suozzi?

The voters were smart enough to continue booting criminal and unethical republicans out of office in Nassau County. That explains Suozzi.

Parola - Please
04-03-2005, 01:24 AM
Parola is dead weight - in Nassau County he's got as much power as a flea in a bowl of sudsy water. He was the comptroller when Gulotta went down for economic malfeasance. People won't forget that. He's lucky he got a gig in TOH that let's him spend his days working in his law firm. IF Denenberg doesn't destroy what's left of the man, King will.

PollsterII
04-04-2005, 05:01 PM
In 2001 voters gave Parola the Comptroller a lesson in subtraction.

I doubt they would now add him back into their thoughts.

Anyway, the ongoing demographic transition of Nassau County's population makes it an uphill climb for old-style machine Republican candidates for any county or congressional district office these days. Only contorted political gerrymandering has kept this trend from affecting the GOP's State Senate delegation - which by some measures is ideologically Democratic anyway. The Assembly delegation is hapless, with no power.

Population change has made Nassau less Republican and more Democrat - Independent. Machine-style candidates in the New Nassau face a bleak future.

Just watch what happens to Greg Peterson, railing against an urbanization of Nassau that by all means has already been firmly established along the Queens border and is deep into Nassau's heartland already - much to the credit of the policies of Republican administration's he's been a part of.

This hypocrite is pissing in the wind.

If you think voters are fools, bet on Greg.

Suozzi is An elitest Pig
04-04-2005, 07:56 PM
Funny, but I think you are right. The illegals and undesirables are all Suozzi supporters but the working and middle class will vote for Peterson. When you ask Suozzi supporters for specifics on what he's done - they can't give you any. Because there aren't any. He's raised taxes and made bonds cheaper to float. That's it. He's nothing in the county's best interests. Suozzi wants to pay nothing local toward medicaid and have the state pick up 100% of the medicaid tab. If the state does this, it'll have to raise state income taxes enough to do this. That means, Nassau County will have to subsidize the local portion of the Nassau County part, as well as, the local portion of the NYC part. The problem with that is that NYC now constitutes 70% of the cost of medicaid. Meaning, we will be picking up an unproportionate share of medicaid costs under Suozzi's plan. Just so the idiot can run around town spending our money on patronage deals and giving it away to his real estate developer and construction company friends and then Newsday can do PR articles about how we can now borrow more money at lower interest rates because our bonds are worth more? Then he floats bonds to build on private lands near Queens on LIJ property, and to preserve our parks which he then sells to the North Shore. He's sold 9 Nassau County parks to the North Shore already, meaning, everyone else in Nassau County loses the right to use them. So although he pretends he's opening up Nassau County to everyone, he's merely looking out for his wealthy friends and throwing the rest of the people under the bus. Then he runs Levinson for TOH supervisor - the guy who thinks the way to solve illegal immigrant housing is to charge the landlords higher property taxes and then campaigns to implement an across the board income tax when the problem in keeping desirable people from leaving here is that they can't afford to buy homes as it is, now he's going to take away the disposible income they had to save to buy homes. No thanks. Suozzi is an idiot and he's sure not looking out for the interests of Nassau County.

Wrong Payroll
04-06-2005, 12:49 AM
Town Payroll. In Gulotta's day it was the County Payroll. Now it's Murray's payroll with County paid health benefits. These guys are the reason the people aren't ready to let the GOP back in - and might just be the demise of the TOH stronghold too.

Or how 'bout what I heard near the playground that day:

Not a bad question, eh?

Thank you for your post "Free at Last." Your post demonstrates the difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans like Steve Rhoads wish to build up their communities, work with volunteers who serve selflessly, and are ready a moments notice to perform their duties. They do so selflessly and without cynical commentary. All that the liberal Democractic Denenberg Demogogues can to is throw insults and engage in character attacks. As far as I know, the only County Legislative hopeful that I know of who wore handcuffs this year is Mr. Denenberg, so I guess he better go easy on the mudslinging.

Few members if any of the County Legislature have done more to work with the Volunteer fireman than Dave Dennenberg. He was the original sponsor of the tax reduction for firefighters, he was the guy pushing for the light control system and he is the guy who is frequently at various FD meetings.

It very interested that two years ago it was Steve R who complained to a neighboring Fire District that the Chief of the Department had some Dave Denenberg information in his car. Nothing on the car just inside on the back seat...

My how things have changed old Steve Boy!

The trucks had right to be used. And Dave is clearly the one working with all community groups day in and day out

but still you must admit

04-12-2005, 11:51 PM

What is it that Parola is suppose to be doing for the TOH that also allows him to keep a full-time law practice going at $400/hour, get free Nassau county health insurance, campaign for Steve Roades, and at the same time try to convince Dillon to bring indictments against Erin King and who knows who else, well, I guess he already succeeded against Dennenberg. According to what I've read on this website, he's doing all these things and I'm just wondering what post he has at the TOH and whether or not the rest of his law firm people have similar deals. I'd like to keep this in mind after Levinson takes over the Supervisor job and all these posts become vacant because it seems like a really good deal to me. What's the post Kate Murray gave him?

If so, where does that leave Rhodes in the 19th L.D. - Parola's extra-large candidate vs. the thin man Denenberg. I mean the guy looks like he's about to pop, like he's wearing an elastic suit or something. Real form fitting extra big mac-guy, I mean he's really packed in there!

If Rhodes were to adopt Denenberg's exercise plan this summer he would likely lengthen his lifespan, and although the political outcome would not be any different, it's a good thing healthwise.

So, walk the district, lose weight as well as the election. Which is a better result, hard to say.

Yeah, and Denenberg is just a regular "Classy Freddy Blassie," especially when he sports those bright, shiny, metallic love braclets ...... I mean handcuffs...... I found it amusing when that little putz Denenberg was cuffed and stuffed and subjected to the "perp walk." He kind of resembled a metrosexual elf with an S&M Fetish.

Indeed, the boyish Denenberg sort of reminds me of a pre-pubescent boy with ritalin issues. It is surprising that Michael Jackson hasn't requested the honor of Denenberg's presence at the Neverland Ranch. I think the voters will care. The next few years are very crutial for the republicans. They will have to weigh each move they take. Cullin is very formidable when it comes to being on the ballot. The dems want to make in roads in the town, and her seat (if she does not run) will go democrat. It is really that simple. The reps have no one to run who can save that seat. So will she retire, she really cannot right now. If she does, the republicans just lost another town council seat to the democrats. Interesting catch-22.
