It is obvious to everyone who reads your comments that you are a very jealous and unhappy person. You have let the rpfd consume your life. Why don't you take a break from the fd and find some other interests. I feel very sorry for you that your life is so meaningless that you find it necessary to attack and slander the members of the dept. that you don't happen to like what about the people that don't like you should they do the same. They probably have better things to do. It makes me feel sad that you are so unhappy. If you died tommorrow how would people remember you as a jealous, bitter, unhappy person. It's time to stop this!! In my opinion the rpfd is a great fire depart. that serves its community well it has good equipment and for the most part good members. Not everyone is going to like everyone but they would help each other in a time of need. I hope you find some peace and happiness in your life because you obviously don't have it now.

However, let's be real careful about what we do post - it is vitally important that we get our facts as straight as possible. There is nothing wrong with disclosure but vicious and misleading information does no one any good.
Don't forget that we are not the only ones who read this - other departments and the public also have access. If you feel something needs addressing, please try to go through the 'proper' channels. We need cohesiveness.

I have to admit, I've sat here reading the stuff people have posted and I am disappointed, not only in my fellow members, but myself, that I sat here and silently accepted what has been going on. As you read in a prior post the public is reading this stuff and this is getting way out of hand. Not everyone spent parade day drinking and if members have a problem with things, they should write a letter to their officers and follow the chain of command. Nobody has any business posting this on a public website. Nobody has any business using the names of members who did or didn't do something. We are supposed to be a family, regardless of our faults. Take back your dignity people and stop airing this stuff in public, where you feel safe because you don't have to give your name. Quite frankly, if you don't have what it takes to say it someones face, you shouldn't say it at all!

Dear Fellow Firefighters and EMT’s,
As most of you know the infamous report has become a popular past time for a lot of people. The forum can be used to exchange some valuable information, however it seems to be nothing but a gossip column.
The topics discussed on-line for all to see are sometimes personal and hurtful to our fellow members and their families. I had hoped that our department was above the low class majority, but it seems I am being proven wrong. We constantly make comments regarding other departments and what they do and do not do, and how their members act. We talk about how our members act, how we are embarrassed by some of the things our peers are doing, well those of you who are writing some of the things on that forum are no better.
I don’t believe that the entire internet world needs to know about some of the shortcomings of our members or the stupidity of some of our members. They don’t need to know every detail of what goes on behind closed doors. The most recent posting described an incident that we should not even talk about in house never mind in public.
We are public servants, people who have to go into other peoples homes in their hour of need. We are the perhaps the most important people a sick person sees prior to the hospital. If the community starts to read what is going on inside the firehouses, how will they feel about us.
I know a lot of you will read this and maybe snicker or even tear it down. But I hope those who believe in this fire department and the job we are here to do, will take this to heart and maybe we can stop the garbage before our reputations are permanently damaged.
We are all here to do an important job that most people don’t understand. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard than anyone else. We are a great fire department and hopefully we can continue to be for a long time.

How right you guys are about the embarrassing posts. They far exceed the actual behavior in tastlessnes, meanness and negative pr for ALL OF US. We have a great department but like most families, have our issues. They need to be worked out among ourselves. As was said earlier we are here to serve the people of our district. In an attempt to get us away from the garbage being printed, I would like to give a big hand to the crew of 5A7-10 for saving a life on Wednesday the 9th. A headache call turned into respiratory arrest, a quick thinking crew and a great first responder kept her alive. Her son stopped by Company 1 to thank the crew for a job well done. This is what we are here for, let's not loose sight of that. I invite anyone who has anything nice to say about a good call to post it, let's keep reminding each other and the public we are not what a couple of people want them to believe.

How right you guys are about the embarrassing posts. They far exceed the actual behavior in tastlessnes, meanness and negative pr for ALL OF US. We have a great department but like most families, have our issues. They need to be worked out among ourselves. Why don't you ask an officer at the firehouse instead of posting it here? Clearly you weren't there, don't know all the facts, so why post such garbage? Some of us are trying to be supportive, not desctructive. Find out your facts first. Complain, if appropriate, to the officers. (That's why we give them such big bucks..yuk yuk yuk)

Just drop the bucket of pee! No officer asked any junior to do anything. If someone else asked for assistance to do something they didn't want to do, they should have said NO! They have officers, they a senior member who oversees them. I can't say for sure if this is being investigated, since I'm not directly involved. Guestdh, can't say unless he/she is directly involved. If someone wrote a letter filing a complaint with their officer, then yes, it is being investigated. If one or two trouble makers are choosing to use this website to make the department look bad, I doubt it will get the attention of those in charge. It truly saddens me that the minority choose to make the majority look bad. We are here to save lives and help our community, not bash each other. People who have posted here have used the names of members. These people have families, they are long time members of this community, they have wives and children, but, you have all chosen to take the low road. Shame on you.

If something did happen in the department like this it needs to be dealt with outside the department for various reasons:
1. The deparmtent is supported by the taxpayers and is ultimately responsible to them. The use of the equipement could then be restrricted to not be allowed to go on parades and the applicable members responsible could be properly disciplined and terminated if this occured.
2. There was a total lack of responsibility that senior Fire Officials abused their positions in requesting that Junior members get involved in this in any way and we need to amke sure that if true a fair investigation is conducted and involved members are punished accordingly.
3. We cant allow our children to be treated like this. Where does the abuse stop. Whats next in the line for these cadets or what do they do to the next batch of recruits.

We are just trying to get to the bottom of this situation and find out what happened and then deal with it accordingly.
The worst thing would be for it to be investigated internally and swept under the rug and people not being dealt with accordingly.

Dear Fellow Firefighters and EMT’s,
As most of you know the infamous report has become a popular past time for a lot of people. The forum can be used to exchange some valuable information, however it seems to be nothing but a gossip column.
The topics discussed on-line for all to see are sometimes personal and hurtful to our fellow members and their families. I had hoped that our department was above the low class majority, but it seems I am being proven wrong. We constantly make comments regarding other departments and what they do and do not do, and how their members act. We talk about how our members act, how we are embarrassed by some of the things our peers are doing, well those of you who are writing some of the things on that forum are no better.
I don’t believe that the entire internet world needs to know about some of the shortcomings of our members or the stupidity of some of our members. They don’t need to know every detail of what goes on behind closed doors. The most recent posting described an incident that we should not even talk about in house never mind in public.
We are public servants, people who have to go into other peoples homes in their hour of need. We are the perhaps the most important people a sick person sees prior to the hospital. If the community starts to read what is going on inside the firehouses, how will they feel about us.
I know a lot of you will read this and maybe snicker or even tear it down. But I hope those who believe in this fire department and the job we are here to do, will take this to heart and maybe we can stop the garbage before our reputations are permanently damaged.
We are all here to do an important job that most people don’t understand. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard than anyone else. We are a great fire department and hopefully we can continue to be for a long time.

An investigation was done, discipline was meeted out. Poor behavior, poor judgement and lying about it were not tolerated in the RPFD. Now let's see if the officer involved and his cheering squad have the decency to do the right thing, apologize and slink away.

To anyone who might be reading this, make no mistake, the RPFD is an excellent department...regardless of the politician on the board, polishing his image for the next election. They have very capable and fair chiefs, they have an open door policy and they care about their membership.

Do you people realize that anyone can read this site. That means the community, i hope you are all proud of yourselves that all the crap from the dept. is now public knowledge. there are a lot of issues that need to be resolved with this and not just swept under the rug by some of the fire chiefs.
Drinking and urinating a t a public event disgraces the entire department which is representing RP. This is not a one or teo person incident but signs of a pervasive lack of control or discipline. It involves tax dollars and as a result the residnets have a right to know and the FD an obligation to get the facts out.
Yes punish the whole department because of this action. The trucks belong to RP and not the department just remember who paid for them

You're an idiot. There is nothing in the union contract vis a vi personnel confidentiality. It's both proper under Robert's Rules and NYS Ed Law. Personnel issues are not in any instance that I know of, the public domain.
How disappointed all you negative people must be that the incident at the parade was actually addresses -goodness sakes alive- within 24 hrs, by the chief's staff. An investigation was done, discipline was meeted out. Poor behavior, poor judgement and lying about it were not tolerated in the RPFD. Now let's see if the officer involved and his cheering squad have the decency to do the right thing, apologize and slink away.

Before you start with the threats against another member, you need to have your information correct. Before any letter was summitted, this subject was talked about with the Senior Officer, who allowed his own officer to take the hot seat rather then admitting his own poor judgement. This Senior Officer knew that IT WAS going to follow the chain of command, and not once said he was responsible himself. So who is lying here? Ask yourself Why was the finger pointed at the wrong officer before any letter?
I have no problem taking any and all threats and putting them into writing, following chain of command and taking it further. And I have no problem signing my name.

Hello Members of the Rocky Point Fire Department
A few days ago, I was told about this site and was told that I really needed to read it. At the time, I laughed at the thought, but reading it tonight I have to say I am shocked. As an ex-long time member of the department, I find it truly disheartening to read such trash. I really feel the need to address or remind people of a few things. First, remember you vote the commissioners in; most of the public fails to get out and vote for the election. If your not happy with them vote them out or better yet run yourself. During my time in the department I have found many people who think the job is so easy and love to bash the commissioners but can’t tell you the first thing they do. As far as the Chiefs are concerned, again remember you vote them in. If your not happy with the way they represent the department or the members vote them out. Just because they make 33 does not mean they have to go all the way to 30. Choose someone qualified for the position, not just because they are your friend or it’s time for someone from a particular company to get chief because there hasn’t been one from there for so long. I have heard of secret dealings between chief candidates if you do not run this year and I get in then we will push for you next year. HEY PEOPLE, being chief is not a right, no person is entitled to the position just because they are moving up the chain.
I would like to discuss some other things. For those of you that were not in the department back in the early years (60’s, 70’s and 80’s) during a parade we use to piss on the generator of 4 during the parades. It does not make it right but when you have to go you have to go and as was stated earlier, there are not many other options unless you want to look like jerks and run into a store and beg to go. The big stink about the juniors was wrong to list here. While what was done was wrong and disgusting, there was no law broken, other then the law of decency and smart thinking. From what I have heard 3 people have paid for this indiscretion and hopefully, this and other problems will be handled the same way or better yet just not happen again. Rumors can be a killer to any organization or group. I would hope that people would wait to get the facts before posting their anger here. Something for the officer staff to remember secrecy only leads to rumors. Sometimes it is better to address a problem before this happens.
As far as cheating spouses, that’s better left to the persons involved but if it involves the department then it’s the obligation of the other chief staff, commissioners as well as the members to stand up and demand that this person step down and get there problems taken care of. What ever your beliefs are, it is none of your dam business until it affects you or the department. Then you need to act like the adults your suppose to be and do something about it. As far as the commissioners doing things that are questionable, for as long as I can remember there has been question about things that have been going on in that office. Maybe it is time as taxpayers of the district to demand a state audit. However, I think one is done every year already. If they have not found any wrong doings then one would have to guess all is being covered up efficiently.
I am guessing gone are the days where company would fight company to answer an ambulance call. There were many times the radio would mysteriously fail on the way to an ambulance and suddenly start working again as soon as the mechanic looked at it. I could not count the number of times both units would pull up to a sick call. Now you cannot get one unit out on a major car crash and you have 3 ambulances now.
Try and remember you volunteer your time, the whole thing with throwing people out of the department because they have low percentages is really wrong. People these days are working 2 or 3 jobs to keep their homes and families. If they still find the time to give a little they should be rewarded not punished. If you discourage people from joining, then the death of the volunteer departments will be inevitable. For those of you shouting paid fire departments it will not be what you think it will be. First, you are not going to have all the equipment you have now, or all those wonderful backrooms filled with 50-60 in TV’s, DVD players, and pool tables. Most of the members will be tossed out for failure to pass the physical, drug test or just through attrition. Your taxes will rise to a level that will cause most of you to move off the island. Once started it has no end until its complete, and you will have no one to blame but yourselves. Paid EMT’s and paid dispatchers are the first signs. Maybe if you stopped throwing people out because they can only give 5 or 10% you would not need these things.
I am constantly asked to come back into the department but I have to ask why should I. You people fight like a bunch of drunken hags or 5-year-old children. GROW UP act like the adults your suppose to be. Don’t complain about problems and sit on your ass and do nothing about them. Stand up and demand that they be taken care of. Toss out the officers who were put in office because they are friends of someone. Friends make lousy officers. Because when they are not your friends, you are in trouble and when they are your friends, then someone else is in trouble and that will never work for the betterment of the department. You have a set of rules and guidelines follow them, that’s what their, there for.
Think about setting up a private, not open to the public forum. There are 100’s out there, where you can bitch and complain all you want to each other with out the public being able to read what you have to say. If you don’t know where check out www.Bravenet.Com, its free you can still maintain your secret identities and bitch till the cows come home.

If I didn't see rpfd I'd swear this was own dept. Every Dept. has the same thing. An exchief who just screwed up the dept. as chief decides to become a comm. and the only way he can do it is bring in politics, because no firemen in his right mind would vote for him. What's really funny is when the calls go out to come down and vote the party line the people don't even know who they're voting for.As for the juniors we have juniors they do everything but wipe our asses , is it right hell no, but some people get a power trip from telling others what to do. We to have ambulances and used to fight to get them out know we're lucky if we can get one out. As for the officers most of the think their shit doesn't stink . well guess what guys it does.They wonder why nobody shows up most of the time it's their own damn fault. As for screwing around read some of the other quotes in here everybody seems to have that problem. I know many people in your fire dept. I know you guys are good as are the majority of the guys in most depts. Just rember do what you can, when you can to get rid of them or take care of them. Don't let the bad apples spoil yours or anybody elses dept. We volunteer to help not get screwed.Keep up the good work. You wouldn't be celebrating an Anniversary this year if you hadn't had good people in your dept.

ok i been reading this for a few days , and i must say as a member it's all true . yes you do have a drunk for a capt. thats true and company 1 lt joe t. was cougt on the bay floor with annette getting it on by a jr.and 5a7 33 knew about it and did nothing he covered for them and the distirct payed all this money to watch the bayfloor are those cameras really working and for the members you have have scott willet sleeping with christine baldwin and that is true . and joe t. and annette and you have sandy so unhappy at home she just wants some one any one at least after a few beers and you have steve they call GQ that leaves there so drunk and drive's and the capt feeding him beer what if he hits someone how would that look i think these members joined not to help but to get away from there own problems and that they could cheat and get away with it and how does thay look with all the taxs people pay and mean while the community hear's our fire dept cant' keep there pants up and leadership is covering up

I am not from your Company, however it is easy to figure out who you are by your venom. YOU are one of the people who should resign for being a "bad apple" that is spoiling the entire bunch.

I agree, this needs to stop. This means everyone, including those of us trying to change the way this thread is going. It just continues to feed the negative. Lets all just stop looking at this. I feel that Mr. is responding to this web site to keep it going lets all stop responding and he will get bored.
