Hear That Dennis Garetano Will Run In 17th County District

This would be an excellent choice. Dennis would receive a lot of support in Huntington but also in sections of Deer Park in Babylon.

After The Tonna years and with the Dems putting up one of their political backroom guys this will be a good year for this 17th County District when Dennis Garetano wins. :D

The Democrats are entrenched in both Huntington Town Hall and Babylon Town Hall. What we don't need are any more Democrats controlling our county seats. Since the Suffolk County Legislative 17th district encompasses parts of Huntington and Babylon someone other than a Democrat should represent it.

A perfect choice would be Dennis Garetano who would have the Republican and Integrity Party line. As a person who has already represented his community for over 7 years on his local school board, he has proven himself to be for the average taxpayer and homeowner. He will not be beholden to anyone except himself and the public he will serve. He's a class act. :D

If I recall correctly,it was rumored that his brother Joe was awarded some contracting bid by the SHSD.I think it was audio/alarm systems and NYS bid ethics may have been violated.

I'll continue to try to find out if... A) It's true he quit his position on the SHSD board and ...B) Why.

If he was on the board for 7 years and then suddenly quit, I sure want to know why -- so should others, I'd think.

I like the fact that he appears very involved in the community -- that scores points with me -- but his flyers I've seem make him look like he's missing a piece or two of the puzzle.

EG, he writes that he's running for Legis. because he's concerned about down-zoning. But zoning is handled at the Town level, not at the county level -- so he really can't have an effect with that.

And if I were running against D'Amaro, man, I'd flag "CONFLICT OF INTEREST" all over town. For the sake of the welfare and best interests of the citizens of Suffolk County, you really ought not have a husband in the Legis and his wife working for the Executive office. Not good.

Frankly, I feel mixed... I like Geratano's 'down-to-Earth' regular guy-ness, but there's big holes in his background. D'Amaro looks like he's got a lot of polish and experience as a public servant, but...it's all a little too cozy, a little too slick.

I haven't met either one -- I'd like to -- to get a better feel for either one or both. I wonder if these guys would ever debate.

Dennis is a bright, caring man that only wants what's best for the community. There is no agenda here. He lives modestly and works for all of us.

While on the Board he asked logical questions and made people accoutable. His choice to resign was logical considering the effort needed to run for office.

You need to vote for him.

Meanwhile in town of Babylon school taxes skyrocketed upward and businesses in real estate profited from zoning decisions. :x

Oh please, you obviously don't understand the political situation. Dennis was a republican, he began the Honesty and Integrity party, but you do not register with this party....it was a group of democrats, repubs, conservs, independents who supported certain candidates and worked for the community....This is where Lou loses credibility. He has no clue....Garetano changed once to the Independence party and explained it in a letter to everyone, he felt it was a natural progression from his Honesty and Integrity in Government group.

Regarding the West Hills, he had owned that place for 27 years. I hope you go back that far. As the community changed and got worse, in the last 10 years, I'm sure calls to the police were increased. You can't blame him for that.
