Does Suozzi know what a disaster the TVB is? I had to call to see if a case was on for tomorrow, so I called the first number. After numerous times, I finally got through and was told to call another number. Well I called the second number and after going through the "menu" I was told to press O to talk to an representative. Well I did and the line was busy so I had to do it all over again. It took me fifteen minutes just to get to the menu because the line was busy . When I finally got through to talk to an representative, I was on hold for twenty five minutes. No wonder people hate the County. It was pathetic

Don't forget - he's the one the set it up. He took it from being a separate, independent agency and made it part of his administration and hand picked the managers to run it. They are probably hoping everyone gets disgusted and just pays the ticket. This guy is all about raising money - that's the main priority.

well let me tell you, it is one of the most horrible run departments in the County. I think Suozzi needs to take a long hard look into changing the way it is run.

our County Executive went out of his way to bring in all the NYC talent. Calling government phone lines and having no one answer is the way NYC has operated for many years. So now we have it here. Thanks, Tom.

See, on the way out at the cashiers window, the power-trippin,' jewelry-drippin,' receipt-rippin' individual who thinks she knows more than the judge decides that you don't get a receipt, 'cause you guilty, and after you leave the building, it's like YOU NEVER WERE THERE AT ALL. This department is running so well that I received a summons to appear in court for having an uninsured car in March of last year. The problem is that I would have had to be stopped to get a ticket or done something egregious to be stopped by a police officer and given a ticket because then I would have been asked for my license, registration and insurance card. Well, I was never stopped nor received a ticket and better yet, the letter does not even indicate which of my cars was uninsured. I am sending the trafffic clerk a copy of my insurance coverage for both cars.
I am telling this story since the letter threatens me by saying that if I do not pay the ticket, my license will be suspended.
Is this the way this Administration is raising money by issuinng bogus tickets and threatening taxpayers with losing their licenses? This just adds another log to the bonfire.

Morning DT. Hope all is well. As for your ticket, you know that administrations don't issue tickets. You know who does. My bet is that someone with really poor handwriting issued a ticket with the wrong plate number and, ta-da, you get shaft. These boys and girls couldn't send out bogus summons if they tried. They are so far behind that it takes 6 months to get a hearing date, and they surely don't have time to figure out ways to go after more people than get tickets through the ordinary means.

You are absolutely right!!!!!!!I forgot who we are dealing with. Well another wasted bureaucratic moment that is costing we, the taxpayer, and me as the one who has had to call my insurance company to send me the paperwork to send on to the Traffic Clerk. As an extra precaution I am sending it with a return receipt requested so they that don't "accidently" send my name to DMV to suspend my license!:">

When dealing with any municipal agency with the power to make your day go the way grass does through a goose, its always a good idea to keep any paperwork they send making a determination on your application/ request/matter as well as proof that you made such.

In terms of the TVB when you are issued moving violations, you have one of three choices -
pay it and move on with your life
fight it by yourself - you may luck out and get it dismissed or reduced.
fight it with an attorney - better odds of gettting it dismissed or reduced but no guarantee and you are out some cash on the attorney.

I maybe bias, as the name indicates, but if the ticket is for a serious number of points or fines, get an attorney a.s.a.p. and see what can be done. Otherwise, your just gonna get abused by the system and complain why someone who did worse than you got off much better. If its under 50 bucks or 2 or 3 point offense, fight it by yourself or pay the fine and live to see another day.

well first of all, most of the County is run by Civil Service Employees who could care less about their jobs. They are in it for the benefits and pension. Believe me. it does not take a genius to pass the Civil Service Test. The working conditons are horrible and they could not care what kind of ticket you have or how long you have to hold for one of the operators gets on the line. They get paid no matter what and cannot get fired. Let them work in the real world and believe me, they would fall flat on their faces. Suozzi could care less about the bureau also.

Is it fixed?
He's spending county money on it now. He's responsible now.

it' s more expensive too because he's surcharged everthing now. All these tickets you get and all these summonses you get all have very heavy nassau county surcharges added to them which can't be plead down so even if you cop a good plea on your ticket, you still get shafted paying the surcharge. Then if you are innocent - or just want to take your chances - and have a hearing you pay on top of the surcharge, more fees for having the nerve to exercise your constitutional right to have a hearing. This administration is definitely not into constitutional rights. For dead sure.

listen you whining morons. nassau has the best traffic bureau. at least you can plea bargain. go to suffolk or city of ny and there you either plead guilty as charged or go to trial. conviction rate is 95%. so shut the f**k up.

Maybe YOU do
01-24-2005, 08:45 PM
Listen, I've beaten tickets in both those places - it's no different than here except the BEST thing about tickets in NYC is you can write in not-guilty and ask the ticket be dismissed. If it's something like defective, or you got the thing fixed or have your insurance or whatever - you can point it out in the letter or send a copy of the repair, inspection sticker whatever and they dismiss it and send you a notice telling you it's dismissed - all through the mails. I've done it dozens of times over the last decade, for me and my whole family and a couple neigbors have done it too. Try that in Nassau. You'd have to send a dozen copies of your original write-in because they'd start out by losing the first 11, then arrest you, then tell you the ticket is dismissed after you take a day from work off, spend the whole day there, show them your proof but then they'd lose that paperwork and you'd get another summons in the mail for the same ticket you just got dismissed with surcharges on top of surcharges they won't forgive even if you succeed in getting it dismissed again.

Which is why the higher fines are justified.....jerkyturkey

Justified?
01-25-2005, 04:45 PM
Justified? Nothing Suozzi does is justified. I'm not even sure I understand your statement unless you mean the incompetency of the office is why the fees are so high. That would be a typical Suozzi move. Instead of realizing your management team is inept and getting rid of them in favor of people with the right experience for the job, instead of figuring out that the management system is place is warped, instead of revamping the procedures and hiring an adequate level of workers - it's easier just to raise the fees.

Is that what he means by balanced books?

And don't blame the civil service workers - of course they took their jobs for the benefits & security - like teachers get - it's sure as hell isn't the salary a civil servant lives on. And most of them are very nice, do their job and put in a full day for their miserly pay. It's the higher ups at the appointed levels which are flobbing everything up - cutting staffing levels and moral down so they can continue getting their inflated salaries - another Suozzi balanced book idea.

And no, I'm not a civil servant. I have my own business. But I have family that have been county employees for years, I even worked in the county briefly myself. And that's what is going on.

If that is how he screws his own employees, imagine what he thinks of everybody else?

No loyalty. No compassion.

No job in November -

Uncollected debts
01-29-2005, 06:14 AM
Not collecting debts fast enough was one of Suozzi's campaign complaints in 2001 - seems not only is there a backlog of tickets three times what they were 4 years ago, but the place is in such chaos that even people who want to pay can't get through for information and even if they figure out how to pay, their tickets still don't get taken care of and they wind up getting multiple summons for tickets already paid - or in other cases - already litigated and dismissed. Suozzi just brought the county round and round and right back to where he started from. It's time for the republicans to take back over where they started from and correct the wrongs suozzi created. We were better off before.

Another charter violation
02-01-2005, 09:34 AM
Another violation of the county charter. They aren't suppose to exempt anybody who hasn't resided in the county for at least 1 year for any job in the county unless they can't find anyone uniquely qualified for the job who meets the residency requirement. So what's the requirement for this commissioner's job - to find someone who gives a rat's butt less about the county, doesn't know anything about the traffic bureau, has no administrative skills and can run the place into the floor in 3 years or less?

Careful - Suozzi's readin
02-10-2005, 02:34 PM
You notice how as soon as you bring up a new point or resurrect an old thread the next day or two you see an article about it in Newsday - using the exact ideas from this website but flipping them around to create a favorable impression instead of the truthful one the public is writing about.

How come all of a suddent he's interested in collecting unpaid parking fines?

He raised all the fines and surcharges a couple years ago?

Here's a few questions I'd like to see answered:

1 - He claims the backlog was from 1995 - 2003
Can he provide the exact number of backlogged cases for each one of those years, the amount of allegedly uncollected fines and the budget that the agency was operating under, including the cost of all his outside contractors and the outside task force he used to analyze the agency when he took it over - and show the proof to us?

2- He's offering people with fines from 1995 to come forward and pay them or he's threatening to suspend their licenses.
Until you have an opportunity to be heard and a hearing - isn't that a direct violation of your due process rights under the constitution?

3 - Don't people with old fines have a laches argument to make, particularly if there is no cop available either still working on the force or able to remember giving that particular ticket, several years ago? I'm sure some enterprising traffic court lawyers will be advertising to provide representation to the masses - they should be made aware of their rights, despite Suozzi.

4 - Is the Commissioner Reilly related to the Jail Commissioner Reilly ?

Fear and Intimidation
02-20-2005, 02:04 PM
So how is Suozzi's fear and intimidation policy going - did he collect his $600,000 yet from poor, illiterate fools who don't know enough to get lawyers ? The very same crowd that voted him into office in the first place, is the crowd he's trying to bully and bleed to death. Is this what the county attorney's office is setting up an affirmative litigation bureau to do? Condemn and foreclose properties for failure to pay taxes or because your home is in the way of one of Suozzi's contributor's land deals? Did they ever get back the cars they stole from drivers accused of driving under the influence and make good for the damage done to them and loss of services and income caused to people? Isn't the affirmative action bureau the same burea Lorna and Meredith Feinman ran into the ground in NYC - so much so that the other NYC agencies involved had to rally the mayor to take the cases away from corporate counsel to be handled themselves because of the incompetence of the bureau? Is that why Lorna insisted that Tom Suozzi let her hire attorney-administrators on her payroll as her Deputies and plant them in every agency in the county - to give her control over the agencies and keep them quiet - so they can't complain?

I would say that's it
02-22-2005, 08:03 PM
Martha offerman said it best. In the NEW Nassau County - any critical thought is met with a sledghammer. All Suozzi's people are the same. Jay Jacobs calls it ANGER AND NEGATIVITY. We call it - figuring out the game you're trying to get away with and calling you to the mat for it. We need people like Martha Offerman and the Republicans welcome people that aren't afraid to speak their minds and think outside the box. When do you think Lisanne is going to come around? She's our kinda people too - and she doesn't belong on Team Suozzi and Jacobs.

Suozzi did nothing
03-01-2005, 08:14 PM
He took over this bureau when he first got elected and he's done NOTHING. He hasn't collected past debts, let alone the current ones. Now he's reduced himself to begging people to just walk in and pay their tickets and then threatening them that he'll take away their driver's licenses. What bull crap. He missed the boat. He can no longer collect old fines and everyone has a right to fight the new ones. The cops are not Suozzi's friends. Let them come in, if they can be found and aren't too busy, and try to recall the specifics of the ticket suitable for Suozzi's team of jackasses to prove their case against you. If they can SO THEN you pay. If they can't, tuff luck Suozzi. It's 50- 50 ok but the risk is all on him.

there's a good chance the cop isn't even there anymore. under suozzi the cop's staff was reduced by 573 officers while his patronage staff was increased by more than 3 million dollars to 422. no wonder the gangs are taking over nassau county.

NYC mismanagement here
03-15-2005, 06:32 PM
If they managed the operations the right way and if suozzi took an interest in things prior to making a big show just in time for election day they wouldn't be spending so much money now trying to get things working. I hear these democrats talking about how EASY it is to pay now - you can pay any number of ways. They're so stupid. I have a better idea. How about when the cop or the meter maid gives you a ticket you just pay them right there. Maybe they don't even have to give you a ticket. Just a bill. How's that? Easy enough for you? These are the stupid people who vote for and support Tom Suozzi. Running a traffic and parking violations bureau the right way isn't just about "collecting money". It's not a collections agency. Suozzi should have set up collecting past due fines a long time ago but he didn't. The PVB is a COURT and it's about justice and constitutional rights and having the opportunity to be heard. Those are all the things to be managed and those are all the things that fall apart now when people try to exercise their right NOT to pay a ticket. Just like they failed to give constitutional rights out to people who wanted to fight their cars being forfeited by the county which the appeals court kicked down 3 times already. Nobody on Suozzi's staff thinks anybody has any rights. They will soon see starting with the right to vote.

He comes in with his samari sword and starts to take people's work transportation and threaten their homes and their bank accounts. The problem is still there. He's just putting on a media show and hurting hundreds of people in the process. Plus he's not addressed or fixed the chaotic conditions within the bureau that created the backlogs in the first place. He is a dangerous crazy man. I am afraid if he stays in office passed November - years from now - some adjoining county might invade our land to try and free us from a tryannical emperor and they'll have to hunt him down in some underground cave hidden beneath Wang's 60 story tower.

I'd also like to know what the current backlog still is and how come people that are still getting tickets that they are being contested and have even been dismissed - are still have so many computer gliches with summons being repeatedly sent out with penalties as though they've defaulted? Can the Commissioner from NYC explain this?

Speculators
05-22-2005, 12:46 PM
Forget it. All the rhetoric you get about Suozzi is just that - rhetoric. All pomp and circumstances - blow dried hair and cosmetic surgery. Nothing honest, nothing of substance. You'll get no real data because there isn't any that looks good for him. All you'll get is Weitzman's statistical manipulations - ever hear the old standby - junk goes in - junk comes out?
