sort by county and name and BINGO- there's the salary!!! All you need is the correct spelling and the desire to see how much your favorite hack made in 2009.

The answer is yes, they will not give them up easy, but I got them. I called the CE offcie and asked who to send the letter to. You will have tell them my job, not name who you want.

There is a some law that says you must get the information within a certain time frame. My personal suggestion-if you just are looking for salaries and titles and do not know names-write to the Nassau County Civil Service Commission at 40 Main Street in Hempstead. You can ask for what you want by department, agency or jurisdiction. They must, by law, give you the latest salary information. Just ask for a list of the titles and salaries of the Department of Public Works for example. You also could ask if the job is labor class, competitive class, or whatever. File what is called a Freedom of Information Request. Use that exact phrase-Freedom of Information Request.

Yes, by civil service title, it was under Suozzi. They have 5 business days to get this information to you, or give you a timeframe when it will be sent. They have to do this!

You are able to see salaries of individuals without spelling out the person name in each department provided you know their title and rough estimate of years on the job. Years ago they use to publish this information in Newsday in the classified section on New Years day. It would be the talk of the office as to who was being paid what.

SeethroughNY also will give the salaries of employees in the state, the villages, the towns, and the special districts. Play around with it-it's great.

See through New York, lists a number for salary, but it actually is a combination of salary and overtime.
Since Nassau County's CSEA contract allows for Compensatory Time to be sold by the employee in June each year for a check the following January, you will see a number that represents their salary and the 'one shot' overtime check.
So, a person making $60,000 who decides to sell back 900 hours of Compensatory Time earned and accumulated over, say, a dozen years, will have a salary of $90,000 on "see through", yet the next year, that number would drop back to $60,000 if no overtime is sold.
It's a nice gauge, but it is misleading.

How come the Nassau Health care Corp employees are not listed under "Public Authorities"?? NUMC is a Public Benefit Corp. Shouldn't their salaries be public information??

Just look at what steve wallerstein made. Over $500000 and that was BEFORE his recent promotion.
Does anyone at that failing hospital really deserve half a million dolars a year

what if they're working out of title? or assigned elsewhere ? lotsa that going on. one agency hires them and then farms them out to another - like the county attorney sending people to DSS when actual civil service agency jobs exist. You'll never find who you're looking for that way.

Where can we find out how much you make? What you really want to look at is how much the teachers make with all summer off and every holiday off. Why dont you start there?
