View Full Version : Upstate Cheese Museum Awards for Worst Ideas in New York
Son of Lew Yevoli

In the County Executive Race in 1997, commercials for candidate Thomas Gulotta blased his Democratic rival Lew Yevoli's sponsorship of legislation in Albany to build a "Cheese Museum" in upstate New York. This ridiculous example of pork barrel legislation at its worst defined Mr. Yevoli in his crushing defeat to Mr. Gulotta. We are currently searching the Downstate comparables to the Upstate Cheese Museum. Some terrible ideas include:
1. Bloomy’s Shower Curtains in Central Park: For years, intelligent urban planners in NYC resisted attempts by Christos and his fraudulent partner to put shower curtains in Central Park. Bloomy drank the Kool Aid on this one!
2. Suozzi’s Zoo in Ike Park: If the horses in the Old Bethpage Village Restoration are flea bitten and starving, how the hell is this moron going to feed and house apex level predators like lions, tigers, and bears? Brilliant idea Herr Suozzi.
3. Wang’s 62 Story Tower in Uniondale: Hmmmm..... "The Wang Tower...." Sounds like someone is really trying hard to overcompensate for a small..... . Geez Charlie, why don't you behave like the rest of the middle aged men in American with this problem, buy yourself a sports car, some viagra, and a subscription to Maxim?
4. Old Plainview: Old Westbury. Old Brookville. Even Old Bethpage I can buy... But Old Plainview? C'mon, the "new" Plainview was a potato field as recently as sixty years ago! A colonial village built in 2010? Give me a break!
5. That sinking tall ship in Glen Cove Harbor: Didn't that boat save Jews from the Nazis? I guess not.
6. Horse of A Different Color: These fiberglass horsies can be found rotting and resting in County warehouses all over Long Island.
7. Suozzi Dressing as Teddy Roosevelt and Riding a Horsie: No further explanation needed, really....
8. Painting the Old Court House Dome Industrial White: another brainless idea. The golden metallic coloration was far more regal.
9. The Glow in the Dark Radioactive Water of Glen Cove Harbor.... We'll blame this on Suozzi too.
10. The Nassau County Aquarium..... Same as #2, only replace lions, tigers, and bears with sharks and sting rays!
Why does Suozzi think that you rednecks would appreciate any public art or culture. The Cheese Award should go for Suozzi for actually thinking that he can turn stupid Nassau rednecks into cultured people.
Don't talk about think thing you don't know about ......like art. Stick to being a political hack.
The horses were a great idea and an excellent piece of public art. The conceptual exhibit in Central Park is a great creation. If you can't appreciate art thats fine but don't talk about what you don't know...bruce.

In this quote, we see the true essence of the arrogant NYC Suozzi hack captured: a mindless elitist who derides the common sense observations of the ordinary "redneck," the very people whom the Suozzi Administration serves. We pay your salaries, jerk-*ff! Remember that in November, 2005, when I hope thousands of rednecks just like me play drive up in our pick up trucks, and ford broncos, blast our Charlie Daniels and Skynard CDs at 120 decibels, and boot your arses out of the public sector.
Call me a Philistine, but give me a nice quiet oil painting from the Hudson River School displayed at the Heckscher Museum in Huntington, a tasteful exhibit by Red Groomes, or some intricate folk art, say Native American Art or African Tribal Art. Even a sophisticated duck decoy or scrimshaw from an anonymous hunter, craftsman, or whaler, is far superior than the phony work of a hack like Christos. A delicate chinese rice painting with a caligraphy poem written by one of the T'ang Dynasty poets also appeals to my sensibility.
I, for one, prefer beautiful art that takes skill, talent, and love to create. Even a cave painting beats Christos. Think about it. The anonymous Cro Magnon hunter had a life and death relationship to the paintings he made on cave walls in South France. Christos, on the other hand, really looks like he gives a crap!
I, for one, am sick and tired of effete so called "intelligensia" telling me how to interpret an artistic experience. These folks have insulted common folks for too long, and it is time for us to take back our aesthetic and cultural heritage, both as Americans and Human Beings.
I understand Ann Richards, the woman who inspired the political career of George W. Bush, help plant those shower curtains in Central Park. That about sums it up for me, as far as I am concerned.

Son of Lew,
Trash Suozzi for what you think he deserves but don't crap on the harbor to do it:
1. Suozzi is not responsible for the radioactive slag that was dumped in the harbor going back to the 1940's (blame it in part on the federal government).
2. The harbor is not "glowing", neither is Glen Cove Creek. Suozzi's waterfront clean-up project resulted in the REMOVAL of radioactive material from the waterfront property. It also inadvertently resulted in the DISCOVERY of radioactive slag in the creek, some of which has already been removed, most if not all of which will be removed when the creek dredging resumes later this year.

If you know so much about art then you should know that art is personal and be respectful of the fact that while you may not admire something other do. I like public art conceptual, abstract and surreal pieces and if you don
Yes, I did grow up in NYC and I do think that NYC and its people are better than the folks here. YES, I do and here is why.
First, I was born and spent the first part of my life in a county in the Midwest, much like Nassau, but smaller in population. I know how this culture works. I know the rules. The little codes. How we keep outsiders out. How we keep our neighborhoods pure. How we marginalize and judge people. How we oppress others. That is the redneck culture that I hate, the racist, oppressive, close-minded culture that is propagated here.
WAKEUP CALL: This is the year 2005 and its time you morons’ wakeup and learn to accept others, to be open-minded. That will be the legacy of the Suozzi administration, opening the minds of Nassau’s rednecks. There has been more culture, class and integration since 2001 and this Nassau Hub plan will continue to promote this not so radical idea. But, back to you folks and the present.
I know better than to assume that everyone is a racist redneck F***. But I also know that there are enough people that are that way. There are even democrats that are that way and shamefully democratic party leaders, RG, VG, DM, RC, JS, JG, to name a few.
I don’t care who you are and what you were told as a child this culture of oppression and greed is not acceptable and I will in my capacity work to change that.
Suozzi will be reelected. But that is not relevant to my situation. While you naturally assume that I am a political hack you don’t know the first thing about my situation. I have an Ivy League master’s degree and I can get a job anywhere I want. I am not in that category that so many of you are in, this is not a political appointment that I didn’t earn. I am here because Suozzi couldn’t find anyone here that actually wanted to do work and knows how to do more than play mind sweep on his or her county issued computer. The people that are here from NYC are doing you, my fellow democrat, a favor because unless we actually applied our knowledge to the reelection campaign you morns will loose your do nothing jobs. So…let me put this in a nutshell…the people that you call NYC HACKS are the people that are here to work to make sure that you get to keep your do nothing job. You rednecks are not doing US a favor, we are commuting here to help you. YOU OWE US.
The only talent here in Nassau are the people who are here for New York to work, that is clear.
I pray to god that this county will one day step out of your little shells and learn something new. It worries me that there are such ignorant rednecks living so close to NYC.

Guest, or should I say Henry Dachowitz, how dare you presume that somebody who reads books and goes to museums is a Democrat!
You're the one who is closed minded. I bet you missed out on a lot of good folks when you turned your nose down to them. Then again, perhaps those "rednecks" in the Midwest gave you some mean wedgies, and you're still removing shards of underwear from your butt crack. It's too bad. You're obviously a jackass... Your livelihood depends upon the mood of the average voter in Nassau, but you hate, despise and trash the average voter. You suck.
Dear NYC Hack

The NYC Hacks are the biggest waste of taxpayer money nassau county residents incur. Not one of them are in civil service jobs where they had to take a test and score decently. They were all appointed for strictly political reasons. If you are such a hotshot with an IVY league masters and can get a job anywhere - why don't you? What imbecile COMMUTES from NYC into the sticks if he can get a job in NYC? What imbecile works for - what is Suozzi paying his NYC hacks these days - something in the range of $130,000 - if he can get ANY job he wants - presumably making more money elsewhere? And if YOU are the ONLY one that does anything while you watch EVERYONE ELSE sit there all day - why are you so stupid as to put up with the obvious abuse that kind of oppressive situation must be pummeling you with every day? Why would such a smart guy like you, who can get a job anywhere he wants, want to work for a county that he doesn't actually live in - and where the residents who do live here - don't want you to work in? Seems to me pal, it's because you are either running from the law or getting paid $130,000 to watch others play Mind Sweep because you're too stupid to figure out how to play the game yourself. Maybe one of these days you can get a job as a zookeeper - then you can make your money sitting there watching the monkeys huh?
NYC Hacks activiate. Its time to colonize this county. Its time to make Nassau the 6th Boro.
The 6th Borough?
02-16-2005, 10:31 PM
Nassau County is already an independent Borough. Suozzi wants to get rid of it's independence and merge it with Queens and Suffolk County - wiping Nassau County off the map as an independent Borough altogether. He'll call the new territory Suozziland and give Charles Wang the North Shore as a gift. Suozzi will wear a great diamond crown which will elevate his height and bring attention to his moleless new good looks, while hiding his receding hairline and bald spot as he goes through his rapidly approaching mid life crisis - nothing a million and a half dollar new home won't cure.
It has been a long time since I have read an opinion that is such a crock. Bear in mind that we mindless rednecks pay your salary. We are an above-average educated group as a whole. I suppose you were are one of those midwesterners traumatised by being born in the midwest and so cannot appreciate our way of life. We we are so beneath you and your elitism please do not let us keep you here! We will be happy to pay your way out of here ASAP. Oh yes, my family has a number of Ivy Leaguers including my children......
