I got these all from posts on this board.
Wards in North Hempstead.
May Newburger retiring.
Brian Muellers moving on.
Barbara Patton and Dorothy Goosby set to primary each other.
DiNapoli vs. Suozzi continues.
Jay Jacobs under fire.
Are these opportunities or disasters?

If you are a Democrat, these are almost certainly disasters. If you are a Republican, 2003 stands to be a great year. For those of us who have government inflicted on us by the big two--it depends on who they can manage to get elected.

The Democratic party has won a majority in the Legislature and it has captured the County Executive's Office because the Republicans screwed up on the budget. The Democrats are going to have a hard time keeping their seats unless they do something to make the people put them back into office. What can they do for the voters? There is no money to fund new projects that will keep new voters in the Democratic party.
The budget is the big issue. Other issues might cause Democrtats to show up on election day. Civil rights issues might make the difference between failure and sucess of the party. Fairness to poor and middle class people who are the majority in this County can make a difference in who wins next November. I am running for Oyster Bay Town Council memebership as Democratic party member. Any supporters of my view of things can call me at 516-921-5058. ask for Neil Farbstein
I need signatures on a petition. Please help me get elected. We need a change of leadership. The economy is getting worse and services may be cut further than they have been. Something has to capture the hearts and minds of the voters this November. Will it be anger at the mistakes the Republicans made. The district attorney's office has been in the news as covering up scandals in the Nassau County jail and other places.
I have not seen the democrats trying to make political capital out of those scandals.

Uhh Neil. If your gripes are the budget, the D.A.'s office and the County Jail, why are you running for the Town Board?? They have nothing to do with any of those issues. Did you flunk Social Studies in Junior High School?
