If thats the date, will scpd po's have the correct equipment or experience that the Deps have? I think public safety will be jeopardized. Lets face it there has be no one from the district pd that has been out there in how long? Let's hope the perb goes the right way, the way of cheaper, higher quality police. Let the district pd handle the district 911.

I got news for you hop-a-long, a big chunk of those roads ARE in the district.
As for remebering how to do the job, its like making a sandwich, you never really forget. Good thing too, because you'll be back in rubber gloves and hair nets before too long....
As for cheaper, you get what you pay for. Just ask the family that burned up on the LIE or the guy that died on Sunrise after no one looked for him on what was clearly a possible, and after talking to the remaining occupants, a PROBABLE ejection. Live and learn. Or in the Deps case, die and learn.

What kind of kool aide intox were the deps who handled the ejection?
I have it from a good source inside the states coroners office the man was alive for over an hour.
I remember back in the academy, sitting right next to a few deps, listening to a class going over high speed collisions, rollovers, spis, and ejections, how when the glass explodes outward, to canvass for ejections.
How asking people if anyone else was in the car is not enough, because ...gasp....people lie.
I'm relatively certain the deps were awake and cognitive during the class.

Heres the diff Colombo...the guy who hit someone in Brookhaven reported hitting a deer, and wasnt quite sure where it occurred, did not report it from the scene. The guy that died in the Sunrise ejection had 2 other people in the car that TOLD the Deps there had been a 3rd occupant, the back window was blown out, and the car came to rest within spitting distance of where the guy lay breathing his last.
AND the guy wasnt even discovered LATER by the Deps, a passerby saw him. SO that means that the Deps had not been through that section of highway for at least 2 hours. Yeah, thats some highway patrol unit they have over there.....

More lies as usual.
The man in brookhaven stated he was pretty sure a person ran in front of him. The police kept telling him that NO body was in the area and it must have been either a deer or a dog. The poor guy on the side of the road was alive for hours and there was even marks in the dirt where he crawled for over 50 feet. If the Police did their job then he probably would have lived.
I don't know everything about the sunrise incident but the newsday article states that the occupants never told the deps about the other passenger because they thought he ran away after the accident since he was a violent felon on parole and would have been arrested because he was violating his parole. Sounds like good riddance to that criminal but the poor guy in brookhaven was just some poor working man walking home.

The man stated he was not sure what he hit, it might have been a person. He also was more then a 1/4 mile (1320 feet) off from the actual location.
The sunrise incident was a typical case of a novice cop not trained to investigate high speed collisions into fixed objects.
They failed to recognize the exploded window as a sign of a possible ejected object. They failed to notice small clothing and flesh specs on the remnants of the window. to see the trail of glass suggesting that something quite large left the back of the car in a hurry and with considerable velocity.
They failed even ask the question, was anyone in the backseat...was anyone else in the car, simple protocol leanred in every police academy during the accident scene, spi, rollover and ejection course.
As far as your personal opinions, they dont matter, both men were alive and had family. Neither of them deserve to die.

.
Because the man left the scene instead of stopping as soon as he ran it over, told the cops where he thought it occurred, and the cops checked the area, which was not the spot where the body was. NO body was in the area they checked. The police most certainly did their job. They spent 20 plus minutes canvassing and out of their car looking around...they were just given bad information.
Perhaps had the man stopped immediately as he is supposed to, and called 911 they could have found him.

They spent 20 whole minutes looking for a man that was dying. That is a lot of time. Human hair was stuck to the car that hit him. Human hair looks NOTHING like Deer hair. A 4 inch piece of blue jeans was stuck in the grill. All they had to do was get out a flash light and look at the car that struck him. But they could not be bothered to do that. Any trained PO should have seen that.

20 minutes would have been enough to find him, except they were 1/4 mile off, the fact is they could have searched 12 hours and he still would not be found. The driver should have stopped at the scene and called 911.

Hey just for the record if scpd gets the highway back, we're not leaving. You can have 911 back, but we are staying with an enforcement unit.
