I overheard a conversation about an alleged incident that happened this school year. What I heard was a gang member suppossedly flashed a teacher a gun and told him he better not fail.
Security was called, they took the gun, suspended the kid. I overheard that it was never reported to the authorities because the district is being audited, and they did not want to add attention. LIKE I FIRST SAID, I HAVE NO IDEA THIS IS TRUE. I HOPE NOT. anyone have any thing they can add to dispell or confirm any of this story

March 2005
Dear GovenorParaki,
I am writing in support of Comptroller Alan Hevesi’s request for $5.8 million to hire 89 additional auditors for school audits.
Governor Pataki’s decision to under fund this necessary safeguard for the 49 additional school districts that employed the same auditing firm as the Roslyn School District leaves these districts open to wide spread financial fraud and corruption. In addition, all districts in New York State are vulnerable to the same mismanagement of school budgets. Without proper funding and oversight, no school system can feel secure that their money is being spent appropriately.
Many New York State students are already faced with poorly run and under funded schools. An independent auditing process with state oversight is vital to ensure that all monies are being spent on educating our children.
I am opposed to Governor Pataki’s $2.9 million dollar cut, and urge you work to re-instate the total amount requested by Comptroller Alan Hevesi so he has the proper funding to hire additional auditors in the wake of the corruption scandal that has tainted the Roslyn school district.
Very Truly Yours,
School District Tax payer

or mail Governor George E. Pataki

Please cut and paste to email or letter. This is a plea for Governor Pataki to include the 45.8 million needed for the Scool District audits through out Nassau and Sulfork School Districts.. Don't end up in a scandal catch it before it gets worse. If we join forces we can win.

Someone please tell me why they pay the teachers so much money? I have a hard enough time paying my own bills and they give the teachers so much money. How do they get a 10 year contract? I am lucky to keep my benefits and they keep giving the teachers more. Someone has to help us against the unions.

lets all go spend 6 years in college to get a masters degree and teach ourselves. its so easy and the money is just there for the taking. why are we all doing it? honest, i dont get it? if it is so ridiculously easy and you are all so struggling in your current jobs, lay out the money and go to school to be a teacher. they did.

silly person...be anything else a CPA-60,000 to start
architect 65,000 electrician 75+ dont, dont be a teacher youll have to defend yor salary unlike anyone else making over 100,000 -cops, wall street, sales people at car dealerships etc. it'll take over 20 years to make 100 as a teacher. dont be an idiot.
are you kidding me
05-12-2005, 09:50 PM

Allow me to say what a great loss it is for this community not to have Sandra Townsend back on that Board. Talk about someone who cares about children and who is committed to doing the right thing!
great loss indeed but she's serving on the Bocees board where I think her talents will be better put to use. CI BOE is a circus - she should thank God she didn't win.
Sally Salary
08-03-2005, 11:26 AM
A friend of mine in Patchouge-Medford told me that a salary study was done that shows Central Islip teachers are paid just as much as teachers in affluent neighborhoods (i.e. Plainedge and Cold Spring Harbor). Last time I looked around we're working class people (for those who even do that) -why should we be paying exhorbitant salaries. And why in the world do we ever give a 10 year contract?
The Super
08-10-2005, 02:24 PM
What a mess CI is. What do people think of the Superintendent
concern citizen
10-03-2005, 11:30 PM
It is my understanding that the Superintendant is in a precarious position because he wants an extention to his contact and the present BOE is piss off at him and wants him to jump through hoops. He should just give them all hell and do what right for the District. Maybe then the folk in the community would come out and support him.
the superintedent is a good guy just surrounded by a dysfunctional BOE.
what makes the so dysfunctional?????because they dont agree with him????
I said it
10-05-2005, 12:46 AM
the BOE, the teachers union, the residents, the parents and kids are all dysfunctional.
They're dysfunctional because they are egomanians and manage to alienate everyone that works with them including their own supporters. Once they get in there they turn a deaf ear to the needs of children and community and think all of a sudden they serve themselves. Well they've got another thing coming....
The agenda is not the children of the School District ... Unfortunately when you do what is right it will be painful. The older children (the Adults) BOE, Teachers & Administration are not willing to make any sacrifice because of selfish interest. The Parents reluctance in getting involved to make sure that right things occur are not available for many reasons that range from ignorances to frustration. The children are just out of control like all children are when adults don't act like adults....The failure in C.I.
Seem like nobody in CI really cares about anything that go on there.
Did anyone realize that the auditing firm that busted for sloppy work in the Lawrence School District is the same one that C.I. utilizes... but nobody cares

the union
10-19-2005, 09:02 PM
The teachers union do the books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uslip we all slip
10-20-2005, 03:10 PM
U guys are too funny....
If the teacher union does the books, then I guess some of them will be getting karted off to jail very soon.
I heard a recent rumor that the D.A.'s Office is scheduling Grand Jury hearing starting in November 15th. Heard their going to look at School Board members going back to 1998, Adminstrations past and present (especially those retirement perks), alook at some of the spenting from Grants the district receive and if they were properly spent..at a meeting the Super made these comments and indicated that there was a possiblity that some ones maybe going to jail.....
It's about time that someone gets down to the nitty gritty....now will someone have the guts to follow through or will it be another CI coverup :x

IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $35,000 THEN DAILY rate =$189
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $40,000 THEN DAILY rate =$216
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $45,000 THEN DAILY rate =$243
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $50,000 THEN DAILY rate =$270
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $55,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$297

IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $105,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$568
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $110,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$595
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $115,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$622
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $120,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$649
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $125,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$676
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $130,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$703
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $140,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$757
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $150,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$811
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $160,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$865
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $170,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$919
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $180,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$973
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $190,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$1027
IF Teacher Yearly SALARY= $195,000 THEN TEACHER'S DAILY rate =$1070
how can a teacher be making 195,000 dollars? that can't even be true.
This is an outragous... It's hard to believe that education is going on there at all... If you examine the NYS report card this is one of the lowest performing districts in Suffolk County.. I guess most of the pay is "combat pay"
Did anyone hear, at a recent BOE meeting one of the Board members names after and ice cream company made a comment about the the behavior of some of the students by stating that "they were acting like monkeys". Apparently many members of the Community have complaint to the Commisioner of Education requesting his removal for what they viewed as a racist, in-sensitive comments. The real sad part was the the only minority on the Board that was trying to coverup for this ignornant mans comments... I bet the people of CI won't do anything about it.....this has been going on for years
are they acting like monkeys??????if they are then why would his comments draw such a negative response
if they are acting like animals.....what animal can we call them that would be acceptable to you? we know monkeys is out.....what would be okay?
you might say that as an anonymous poster on the internet ...but at a public forum in a district that made up of more minorities seem a little insensitive. There was a time that comment like that would be overlooked ...not anymore...If nothing happens then it doesn't matter. However if the person who made the comment is taking to task ... That's PC...polilitical correctness.
what a laugh
11-03-2005, 05:58 PM
Everyone from the CI community should go to the next board meeting with bannana's and make monkey sound when the ice cream man speaks....that would be hilarious
what should they be called?????if they are acting like skells then they are skells....if they are acting like young men and young women....then he is dead wrong....im sure he isnt that far off...ive driven through CI....with my windows rolled up i might add....lol
i fine this amazing. Worst remarks have come out of a Board Members mouth before and nothing was said. When are the people of CENTRAL ISLIP GOING TO GET THERE ACT TOGETHER.

they don't care
11-05-2005, 09:31 PM
As long as the folks of CI continue to pay our salaries, believe in the great job that we are doing with their wonderful monkey's, I mean children, we don't have to work to hard or even care. These are cave people
As much as I may not have fully appreciated her before, this community yesterday made a better chance of not putting Sandra Townsend back on the BOE. Today, she would be a welcomed and poised voice amongs this tumultuous atmosphere.
the problem with Sandra was that she play to much with Fred Phillips who was responsible for many of the inapproiate comment in the past. She would sit there an said nothing.

We are now ending another year in the Central Islip School District. Has any thing gotten better? Has the community come together to take back the schools? Have the teachers come out to let the community know what going on in the schools? They KNOW what I mean. Has the CSEA come out and let the community KNOW? And they are the actual taxpayers of the Central Islip School District.
IT REALLY IS A SHAME WE HAVE MANY GOOD CHILDREN IN THIS DISTRICT, WE NEED HELP WE NEED THE PARENTS AND THE WORKERS TO UNITE FOR THE CHILDREN AND STOP WITH THERE AGENDAS. THAT IS THEY WAY THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE.
SO I BEG THE COMMUNITY AND THE BOARD MEMBERSAND THE STAFF TO START THING OF THE CHILDREN AND NOT THEM SELVES.
my way
