Shortly, in what will begin as a quiet investigation by New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, prominent members of the Suffolk County Conservative Party, will be questioned regarding the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs Benevolent Association and whether prior donations from the SCDS have weighed in any decisions during their tenure.
Thanks to a letter writing campaign recently, wherein the AG was provided with a time line of donations made by the SCDS’s unregistered PAC fund and a comparative time line of Conservative Party endorsement decisions that seem to follow directly with each other and with the SCDS's desire to join with county govt. officials in a pattern of union busting. This letter writing campaign goes back to 2007 when the DSPBA began to conspire with the County Government to assume work currently being done by a different bargaining agent under contract in the County. But in responses the AG has promised to view ALL records since the inception of the SCDS's unofficial slush fund and view ALL donations as they relate to the political climate in Suffolk County and any decisions made during those time frames. We didn’t expect this much, and couldn't have expected this much until we realized that Andrew Cuomo is running for Governor on a “clean up patronage and dirty politics” stance.
Then the responses from his office begin to make sense. Lets see how the Suffolk County Conservative Party starts to squirm when they realize they are being investigated and every donation they accept from the DSPBA will now be scrutinized and attached to any decision that even has the appearance of being favorable to the SCDS, or can be viewed to hurt or hold back other registered voters in Suffolk County.

Mr. Walsh,
How are you going to run the show, when you are no longer the head of the Conservative Party due to corruption indictments?

A yet to be published article in the Long Island Press, (which is to be reprinted in Newsday), entitled "SCDS Patronage Network", descibes many of the allegations against the Suffolk County Conservative Party and discusses the "pattern of required political contributions to secure job promotions, assignments, and party positions" within the Suffolk County Sheriffs Dept. It will also investigate the effect of multiple party cross endorsements and their effect on the election process by denying voters a choice. A good read which was also forwarded to the AG just before he responded - what a coincidence?

hmmmmmmmmm........Do you think the "letter writing campaign" was waged by a disgruntled SCPD and their disbanded HWY Dept.?

Why does everyone forget that police officers are taxpaying citizens who have as much right as anyone else to write letters and get involved in the local politics that effect where they live and work?

Becoming a civil servant does not remove your rights as a citizen to get involved.

reminds me of a time in the not so distant past...

March 20, 2001 , New York Times: Suffolk County, NY, prosecutor William T Ferris sketches out intricate corruption case against county sheriff Patrick A Mahoney, and his former top deputy, Edward J Morris, saying they used county jail as unofficial headquarters for Mahoney's political assignments and sought money for plum assignments, better pay and promotions; photo

sound familiar?
