It is bad enough that our schools waste our tax money when they permit it to be stolen internally, but now a certain school insurance carrier uses a law firm to defend schools and Villages in Suffolk county that also advertises on an injury helpline in a 1-800- lwyer type format seearching for plaintiff''s to sue those very same schools and villages. No wonder our taxes are through the roof we pay twice once to hire the lawyers then a second time to pay them off, the problem is that our Superintendents and Town officials are close to this Law firm at least its Senior partner and nothing appears to be unusual to them. . . Just turning the other cheek I guess
It's like Enron on a local level

Think about the business rational of any law firm representing a district. They are in business to make money. What incentive does a law firm have to do anything other than drive up litigation cost and find ways of introducing more services. Where else can you find a "climate" so conducive to building up legal fees than a school district. With huge budgets supporting the outside firms, they will never have reason to control cost. The personal relationships built between administrators and Board members and the law firms are fueling a spending spree that will never end. As the public begins to look more closely at these relationships, we might see some future control of this out of control legal spending.

A law firm that represents a school district cannot represent a party interested in taking any action against their client district.
Negligence and accident cases are very common. There is almost no experience a law firm could gather from representing a school district that they could not have gathered from representing a department store or gymnasium. There are a few advantages all municipalities have when it comes to negligence and accident cases. A first year law student with an IQ of -50 would know the advantages.
Many LI school district on LI belong to a self insurance captive managed by Wright Risk Management who among other things provides claim and legal services.

I could care less if it were Kenwe, Fleesom & How. A lawyer cannot even speak with a party thinking of taking action against an existing client.
I am curious about the carrier. Who is it?
Fred
Ingermann Smith
