View Full Version : Lindy taxes to nearly double in five years

Mr Mayor

In the last four years, and based upon the latest plan of a 13% increase this year the untrustworthy trustees of the Lindenhurst BOE will have nearly doubled the tax bill.

Why do the lemmings of Lindenhurst sit back and permit this unbridled spending to go on unchecked.

How stupid the jocks who are bought off with some cheap crap astroturf and field repairs must love the fact that the local tac bills have risen over 800.00 per household in just two years.

What's the plan here to tax out the homeowners, and let all the houses go to slumlords who will put in seven families in each house?

Now the best, you ask any of them what the heck they are trying to do, and not one of the group of them has a clue, except they will tell you how they are going to "get this guy" or "fire this gal".

The idiot in charge of the BOE says they are raising the bar. Raising what bar the one controling the money so they can pay for his health insurance for him and his kids. He gets cheap health insurance because he is on the board, while on the open market you and me, we have to pay top dollar, why can't everybody in the district just pay to play with the health insurance?

The easiest way to change what's happening with the lindenhurst budget is to vote the budget down and the incumbants out. Board members should not be allowed to purchase district health insurance or receive phones or laptops either.

Sooo.... The question remains, who is going to run against the incumbents and get some of the "Dead Wood" off the board???
There are three positions up this election, Murphy, Spero and Brandenberger.
The bell tolls for Spero and Murphy, neither of them has an intelligent thing to say, they are both an embarrassment to the other board members as well the taxpayers of Lindenhurst who hopefully will wise up and oust them this time around.
Brandenberger may hang on simply because of 1- the sports vote and 2- the fact that he is fairly benign, whereas Spero and Murphy consistently make asses out of themselves.
So, anyone up for the run?

Oh, please, anyone with half a brain gave up on this crowd a long time ago. Problem is that with no one interested in doing anything to counter their unbridled greed and corruption, the beat goes on as usual.

As far as Spero and Murphy, at least they challege the ones making the rules. The go along, to get along attitude is the problem.

Highest rates for violence in schools, tax rates that soar, and will continue once the latest turf referendum costs hit the tax bills, no leadership in the areas of education, and a board hell bent on firing those coaches who don't kowtow to their whims - yet let techers and administratiors continue to bloat the schools with dead wood teachers and administrators. How many new administrators have been hired by these clowns? Just what everybody needs more bosses to tell them the system is broken.

Real question is can we impeach the entire board for failing in their swoen duty to the community and the kids?

Board members should not be allowed to purchase district health insurance

Board Members have the same option in our district out east. People made a stink when they found out. But we also found out that the Board members had to pay 100% of the insurance, which meant it didn't cost the taxpayer one cent.
Does the district pay for part of their benefits in Lindy?

No, the Board members pay the entire cost, based upon family or individual cost. However, they get to take advantage of the fact that the district policy is based upon a huge amount of people buying in to it, so if you or I tried to get comprable coverage then we would have to pay substantially more.

If it's good enough for them, why can't the local families also buy in to the plan?

Yes todd, you the taxpayer who is being taxed to provide health insurance (along with many other benefits) cannot purchase the benefits you pay for. A board member should not be allowed to purchase the same benefits he or she votes on to supply to the emplyees. Board members traditionally did not get paid or receieve anything but a district supplied storage cabinet (to hold school correspondence) which was returned to the district when they
the member left the board. It will only change when we the people change it.

It is not just the insurance that the district is paying for current employees, the employees, I believe, contribute between 10-15% of the cost, it is also the insurance costs for ALL the retired teaches, in most instances they pay nothing or maybe 5-10%. The amount the retired teacher pays is determined by how much they were contributing at the time they retired. Mind boggling isn't it!

People are saying that Murphy and Spiro must go, and that may be true...... but, did anyone take a close look at the people who are going to be running against them? Are these people, with absolutely no knowledge as to how the district operates going to make a difference? And then those with some knowledge... what is their hidden agenda, are they the type of person we are looking for?? People need to realize that in order to bring about changes, you need a majority of the BOE, 5 out of 9 trustees, to agree.

Find out who is running, do some background checking, and then make an informed vote.

Good Luck to everyone in Lindy.... we need it!

Highest rates for violence in schools

I know this is an old quote, but where is this person getting their numbers from? Who has the "highest rates for violence in schools?" Is it one school in the district, all the schools? Is this compared to years passed, or compared to other districts? I'd like to know.

So... petitions had to be in by this evening.....
Who's running?

Incumbent Robert Spero vs. Jackie Kostrewski

Incumbent Robert Brandenberger running unopposed

Incumbent Edward Murphy vs. Karen Clemens

with those choices, I will have to vote for the incumbents

04-20-2005, 11:09 PM
Clemens has a rep for doing the right thing even if it's not always the popular choice. Who is the other candidate? Anyone know? Another sports buff?
What happened to all the other gung-ho contenders?
As far as voting for the incumbents, voting for Murphy is like not voting at all... from what I understand he's a no-show at almost every meeting.
I want to vote in someone that will speak for ME. You can't speak for the public if you're not there!
