Ok Guess, I understand your point perfectly, I know newsday is a newspaper looking to cut anybody's head at any time and they are vicious, point well taken, but Don't you think you are underestimating our community's intelligence by saying they won't differentiate between the scumbags as you say and the dedicated volunteers that actually respond to the alarms?
This needs to be known and something must be done quickly, this can't be swept under the rug and dragged for ever and wait until his term as a commissioner is over. If he is guilty as charged, he needs to be removed and make sure that this actions are not forgotten. On the other hand if he's inocent he needs to be vindicated quickly as well to avoid further damage to his reputation.

You have the article 75 hearing soming up with the district manager that Feldman had a hand in suspending...he wanted him out of the way for blowing the whistle on Feldman...and that is even more reason to pick apart every layer of this deal and have him removed from office...in addition...when he is removed from office, the state should ban him from ever running for election in any capacity for life. He should be made to resign from the SFD and every other organization he belongs to in a volunteer capacity and never be allowed to join again. If he is a "criminal" so is George Barber (another commissioner) who got caught red handed scanning in his wife Deb for calls she didn't go on, Paul who was storing his wife Patty's Fob in is company mailbox so he could scan her in when he responded... the grimaldis, the schaubs they all did the same thing, Tina who was caught signing in Chris (her brother in law) for meetings and trainings... and I am sure countless others! If you know all these facts, How come you don't step up and try to follow up on this? With regard to Setauket's hearing and Ron I think it is a discrace that it has had to come to this. These are supposed to be elected officials whom are I might add not accoutable to any body and they know it. For the most part nobody goes to their kangoroo court twice a month, and if you do go you are treated like you have no buisness being there. There is no process in place to have a commissioner removed ( with the exception of an election) Just ask Tony P. So these people can do what ever to whom ever they choose . Just ask the Chiefs who were suspended from ther duties, In affect leaving our families in the hands of people with out direction. Lets face it if there is confusion in the ranks no one will be looking at the thiefs in the night. Just ask Mr Feldmen, This man addmited under oath that he changed his quota so his losap would be met. I would like to remind the people in this forum that this knuclehead Feldman is an elected official. He has a fudiciary responsability to the member of the community as well as the department . There is a difference between scanning in for alarms you dont go on and changing your losap points for the year. You are right who care if an officer scams his quota for the year that is for the members to take care of in house, but being a commisioner changes the playing field just a little. Then states at an open meeting that she uses the lawyer for advise and goes directly against his advise. READ The Minutes. Not a conflict. Mr Green I must correct you on a few things, First if you attend the monthly carnival our commissioners call a mtg you would know that it was commissioner Feldman that stated" YOU WHENT DIRECTLY AGAINST WHAT OUR LAWYER ADVISED US TO DO" AND this can be proven by reading the constantly changing minutes they post on there web site.I will go out on a limb here and state that if you ask two of the five commissioner who hired the lawyer they will tell R. Luete andk. feldman, this does not mean the whole board considers this Rip Van Winkle there lawyer . However he does represent the district. Iam not saying Mr. Dibiase did not get caught in any false statemnets but at least he did not trump up 16 charges,hire a lawyer and waste tax payers money. As for Mr. Palatore he claimed to be a friend of Rons but stated the board could not function as a board and some thing had give. Funny it was Ron who had to loose his job and not the one who was stealing and lying. Or could it be that this so called friend had more to loose by backing Ron and not Winky. The testimony speaks for itself the bottem line is this whole situation is about power and egos and who got caught with what . We will see on friday who was lying on the stand. Ron may loose his job but at least he still has his integrity. Just look around the room how many commissioners did you see? 40 and 41 are valuable assests to the fire department and I have great respect for both of them! BUT- you cannot deny they are getting paid for what they do, if there is a call during the day, they are getting paid by the district!

I also have noticed that in recent months/years they have both bee oozing negativity. THey have nothing nice to say about anything- not the BOFC, the CHiefs office or the membership. Although most of what they say and feel is correct- the response is terrible and the higher-ups don't seem to care. The negativity really doesn't help.

That said... the two guys you refer to are both men who have put many many years into the fire dept, are both ex-chiefs and are both in their 70's.... they earned the right lay in bed at night! WHERE IS THE REST OF THE DEPARTMENT? (CHIEFS INCLUDED)

Man has this thread gone wrong . It was supposed to be about Feldman and the board most of the post here have taken away from the issues it was started for. As for those who feel they need to justify what they do, it is because they actually do nothing but have to create an illusion as if they do. Vf do things for the love of their communnity not because it looks good or they get noticed. Sure it's nice to mentioned every once in a while but for GOD sake stop the whinning about how many calls you make. ( remember any one can sign in for a call and say they made their quoata) As for putting a name to the post for the most part people are afraid to because of the bully mentality in the SETAUKET FD. If you speak your mind right or wrong people will punish you . Just look at the Chief's office people complain about them but never at a mtg. why ? because of fear of the members not accepting them. Some one posted about 2 chiefs doing nothing well we elected them knowing that they did nothing. why because they were the popular ones that never rocked the boat. You get what you ask for, in this case 2 chiefs that do nothing. As for the commissioners mtgs They are attended by 3 maybe 4 members at the most so stop complaining about them being corrupt or ruining the department by trying to run it. If you want to make a change attend mtgs ask questions be involved. Dont be afraid! But do it in Public so as not to be afrais of retribution from the 3 of them.and you all know who I'm talking about . They got rid of 96 for doing his job now they will destroy 40 and 41 because they do not listen . Fred you stated 40 and 41 will never leave because of their love for this place well guess again when the heart is ripped out there is no more room for love. You also stated you EARNED YOUR PLACE ! What happened with this thread? I think we're getting off the subject and attacking each other and creating hostility. I think we need to focus on the real issue here. What's going to happen to Feldman, since he already acknowledges his wrongdoing???
Or, can we all cheat and get away with it?
I think the morale of the department, has been affected by what our elected officials can get away with, the chief should demand and give an explanation to the membership on this matter before he criticize our response to the alarms.
If this matter gets a fair resolution and a good explanation to the membership instead of trying to solve it behind close doors, the department will have a different disposition and would show a lot more respect towards our officers.
By the way chief a good word here and there can do miracles, but when you spend a lot of time just pointing out all the bad things and spying who signs for the alarms and at what time, that only creates a very hostile environment. Chief you might be a good firefighter, but you definitely need some people's management skills.

As far as me being a scammer i'm shocked that you'd say it since i have been one of the more active members for years even with tech rescue which requires more training than i get credit for. Most people respect me for speaking the truth. people respect me because i don't think about myself ie, the food drive i set up that has been very successful just ask the reverend. People respect me for steping down as an officer and taking a leave instead of trying to scam for six months like many people would have done. I read your post on the other thread and i appreciate you respect but i apparantly lost it here. As far as the smoke eating comment thats just to insinuate that they don't respond. I do respect those who volunteer and even the ones that don't do much but i won't defend the knife and forkers that show up only for beer and food. In our department there are unfortunatly lots of people here for the wrong reasons. Our losap pention and tax breaks are for give to the community. Food Drives and Car washes are the only real fundraising my company does and none of it benefits the company. Pointing out the food drive is just to remind people that there is more than firefighting that can be done to serve your community. I don't look for recognition but i don't like being called a scammer or a do nothing. My record speaks for itself. If you know kevin you'll know his reputation, some people love him some don't but he is my blood, while many of the others are my brothers. I guess fdnyproud isnt a volunteer otherwise he'd see the ABUSES that the SCUMBAGS have of the volunteer system. He assumes that the members that show up "even for one single call" are doing the right thing. They are NOT! These people are why the volunteer system is screwy in some aspects. It's the same 1/5 of the company doing 100% of the work. FDNYPROUD, when you're at work, does everyone do equal work or are there 3 people on your tour that do all the drilling and cleaning and checking of tools? No, the whole shift does it because they're disciplined and the senior guys get on the backs of the people who are slacking and give them HELL. The volunteer fire service is a far cry from the paid cities in terms of everyone helping out. What I, and we ALL have a problem with are people who are fork-and-knifers that TAKE ADVANTAGE of the system and don't even apply themselves. They're the first ones on the freebie line but the last ones to do any sort of work. What people don't understand is that it brings the rest of us down! The "dead wood" is showing the probies that come in that this is the way it's done and you don't have to really do anything and can scam in for calls like some members that, say, live pretty much in the backyard of a firehouse. We can make this place great and have the camraderie of the years past if we all get togther and get active. If new probies come in and see all of us responding regularly and down there helping out and training and cleaning tools, they will know that's JUST THE WAY IT's DONE and we can nip bad habits in the bud. Probies that aren't up to this will soon drop out. How do you think the paid FD's have such a high work ethic and pride? It's the men leading by example and not taking the easy road out of work. On this entire site the only posts that make sense are Brian's and Transmit the box (who ever you are). They both have their finger on the pulse of this department. As an EMS member i do my share (unlike many of our commisioners). I too agree that there are 10 guys doing all the work. For Truth hurt 4 u to attack Brian is ridiculous Brian has never hurt a soul in this department, he is one of our more active members and i would consider him someone i look up to for advice. I never lied about anything, when I said I had original paperwork alleging that one of your Officers had exposed himself to a young female. He was caught red handed, he knows - ask him. I don't normally read this sites posts and have never posted before but last night someone mentioned that my name was in a post. This morning I read through a bunch of the posts and can't believe how poorly grown people are acting. We are supposed to be one department, a "family". While most families are dysfunctional, it seems that the Setauket Fire Department "family" has far surpassed any normal boundaries of conduct. This whole b.s. of bashing each other is out of hand. Regardless of who wants to be chief, who supports who and all the other interdepartmental competition we need to remember that when the shit hits the fan we have each others backs. No matter who you support for chief, please stop all the b.s. After the election is over we still have to work together. As for the nonsense about an officer getting jammed up with a personal matter, obviously it all worked out in his favor. He happens to be a friend of mine and although we don't always agree on fire house politics he is still a hard working dedicated member of the department. I never lied about anything, when I said I had original paperwork alleging that one of your Officers had exposed himself to a young female. He was caught red handed, he knows - ask him. Many other people know too, Chief P.D. , HQ - Lisa S. , and a host of other people who were somehow involved including two dispatchers who were on duty when it occured.
