LI Dems...Nassau and Suffolk...Need a laugh? Check out Westchester Democratic politics.

Here's the lineup...
ANDY SPANO - 67 -yr. old second term County Exec, who has played footsie with the Republicans, and is in big trouble. Just raised taxes 15%.

RICHARD BRODSKY - State Assembly for the last 20 yrs...lost for County Exec twice, but beat Spano in the 93 primary. They hate each other BIG TIME. Brodsky just made sure that an increase in sales tax for the County was killed - to smush it to Spano.

LOIS BRONZ- Dem Legislative Chair. Nice lady, but waaaay in over her head. In a battle w/other Legislative leaders - Clinton Young, Majority Leader, Bill Ryan Vice Chair

PAUL FEINER - Greenburgh Stupidvisor. Our biggest town, therefore, our biggest clown. A door-to-door vote-getting champ, in the town, who loses everytime he runs outside the town. And will run for County Exec.

Political alliances, dalliances... Dumb decisions and short-sighted policies.... Out of control egos

Westchester Dems have won races - they're up 11-6 in the Legislature after gaining first-time control in 1997.

But just like Nassau and Suffolk, it's foolishness that will cost us all big-time.

Once-powerful republican bastion Nassau County and Legislature under Democrats' control.
Suffolk republicans in disarray, losing Congress and DA seats. Suffolk, the once-powerful republican patronage trough, leaning more and more Democrat. Republican ineptness, stupidy, insanity and immaturity evident in the fact that Democrats, the minority, control the Legislature!! Republicans, leaderless and spiteful, turn to cannibalising their own and resurrect a relic from their dubious past as their leader. Current county exec, with "real estate" and "health plan" hanging over his head like a millstone, decides to "retire" gracefully in hopes that said "real estate" and "health plan" issues will fade away. Only republicans could self-destruct like this!!

The entire L.I Washington delegation is totally Democrat except for Pete King who votes with them anyway. Tim Bishop's and Hillary Clinton's wins should be required reading for Dems as should Grucci's and Lazio's losses for GOPers. If Democrats are smart, they will harp on the republicans' lack of integrity, total hypocrisy, absence of honesty and general bad manners.

We don't have to. republican behavior speaks for itself and it shows in the voters' preference.

Buhbye, nassau gop!

Enough said...

We had the County and blew it once before. Remember?

If you clowns keep jawing we'll end up doing it again!

Focus, you morons.

We have the NH dems fighting the Nassau dems. Suozzi vs. DiNapoli. It's pathetic.

We're our own worst enemy -- we're cannibals, we eat our own.

That about sums it up. I may have beat the old man, but I guess that just wasn't enough.

Whats the joke?

Nickerson's dead and you're crazy. You'll become governor the day Walter Mondale becomes President!

I hope that lessons are learned here. LI politics is very complex but the bottom line is we the people have to pay the piper. The waste and abuse ends but the bills for the damage never gets paid.

Answer to previous poster's question: Ironically, Judge Nickerson passed away on the day Suozzi took office -- January 1, 2002.

Little chance of Suozzi being Governor at this time -- but someday, under a Democratic Governor of future Democrat President, appointment to something is always possible.

Carter nominated Nickerson to the federal bench in 1978. He was confirmed by the Senate only days later -- that's when Democrats held super-majorities in both Houses of Congress,

I don't think Suozzi would ever end up as a judge though. (Lord forbid!)
