My base pay is over 100,000. as a City Sgt. Should I go out to the farms and work if i get called? Never thought I would ask that question...
Any suggestions?
Go baby

I say go to the farms of Wyandanch, CI, Brentwood, N Amityville, and every other shithole in Suffolk county. Oh yeah and you can't bring your driver so try to not wet your pants when you're all alone.

You're a boss where you are...why take a cut in pay and have to actually work as a cop again? Start at the bottom and six years to top pay plus don't forget city pension is better due to the supplement.

I have seen a some cops who were either Sergeants or Detectives in the city come over to Suffolk. From what they say this job is better, even though we are having problems now, and plus in the city most retire at 20 years then have to get another job. Out here cops tend to stay on longer than 20 a lot until 30 years, and when they retire don't always have to get another job working monday to friday with only a couple of weeks off a year. Plus the money and time saved on the commute makes it worth it. This is what i have heard for former city cops

Stay where you're a snob boy. If you find any farms in Wyandanch you will jump right to detective.

NYPD has exhausted their sgt and Lt lists. Everyone who past with a 70 has gotten made. You will find you're not such a smart shit when you compete against Nassau or Suffolk cops. You're also used to massive manpower, but it doesn't exist in the burbs.
Looks like you're an ego-centered, dickstain, fatboy. I couldn't live on only 100K.

I have a suggestion.
Remain in the city and wipe Comm Kelly's azz with your superior intellect. Be one of the hundred city cops who get arrested every year, while Suffolk has 2 or 3 a decade.
Enjoy your commute Sgt Dildo.

Sounds like youre in a good spot. Come over here and you will have to wait 16 years to get a vacation pick in the summer, there is no movement, and it isnt what it used to be. However in 16 years we may recover from all the damage Levy and Dormer has done. Still a good job, but not what it was. Either way you wont be in a bad spot.
please don't

is another salty boss/dic from the real job,who claims to know everything, shoots his mouth off while being retired on active duty. you don't wanna come out here to the farms, it sucks. really, it blows. stay in the city, please.

how many days a year do you work asshole? 247? and you work 8hrs 35min a day. if you even have to ask, just shut the FUK up and stay in the city. but if you decide to come over, during the first day in the academy, just walk out of formation and tell the instructor that you got a 72 on the city Sergeants exam and was a sgt for 2 years and know everything. they like that. you might not even have to complete the academy and go right onto patrol. they even might make a sgt on my job w/o taking the test. stay in the city and scratch some rookies book and your smelly ass douche bag.

Hey Sgt stay where you are, do you want to work with these guys. Most of us make more arrest in a year then these guy do in 5 . And yes they make more money then we do, good for them. When we had 911 (yes I was there) SCPD was mad they could not send more guys in to help, thanks but now you pull this shit

This guy isnt even a cop! More than 50%, probably around 75% of SCPD are all former NYPD, like myself. Guys here will welcome you, and when you get out of the academy you will have an obvious advantage over the rookies with no prior experience. As one of the posts stated, its not what it was, but its still good. As long as Levy dont back out of this agreement this month, i'd say make the move.

Really?
There are 300kish arrests annually in NYc The majority of which are done by the 36,000 nypd officers. Lets give nypd all the arrests from the outside agencies(scpd arrests about 70 a year in nyc)
There are 25k arrests yearly in suffolk county 20k done by the 1700 or so scpd officers.
nypd =8.3 per cop.
scpd = 11.75 arrest per cop

OK gentlemen. Back off on our brother.
The NYPD holds such esteem out here (like in that Irish bar shooting this week) that the brilliant sergeant's lateral transfer is immediately accepted. He will be appointed Detective/ Lieutenant and tell us how to follow leaders.
He can trade in his 1992 Honda for an unmarked Ford Crown Vic. I hope our offer is acceptable genius sir. Perhaps we'll include an E-Z Pass and you can name your own hours sir.

Aside from this guy calling Suffolk a "farm", I think this was a legitimate question. Is it that much better in Suffolk that it's worth leaving being a Sgt or Lt. in the city to start again on patrol?
It seems that even despite all the aggravation with Levy out in Suffolk, it's still a better job than NYPD. the public is relatively supportive and you don't have people trying to jam you up for doing your job as you do in NYC.
Any thoughts?

city cops arrest for 511 which is a mandatory arrest, and they call a sgt to order them to arrest on domestics.
Oh and then of course, they arent trusted to get the arrest paperwork and information/complaint correct, so an ada HAS to do it for them.
Anything else a street crime or impact cop takes. Once they are off the impact team and on patrol, its no more then 10 bodies a year.
I do that in a month.

Variable Supplement
11-26-2009, 11:21 PM
Please stop saying the Variable Supplement makes the city pension better.... It absolutely does not... It might make the two pensions closer than the two salaries but I would still rather make the 24,000 more for 10 years (before I retire) and wind up with $240,000 (not including interest) in the bank when I retire than have no bank but get my variable supplement
the salary discrepency is actually bigger but I use the $24,000 number as the example because when you retire half of the $24,000 is equal to the value of the Variable Supplement which is $12,000.
I am not a Suffolk Cop by the way... But thank you to the guy who are.. they always treat me with respect.... I guess you get what you give though...
