a few rumors out there. Andrew Hardwick wants to run against the current mayor, but Suozzi also has someone he wants to run. Who knows, and really...they would probably have no chance.

keep the faith- there is always a chance. Do it for the RIGHT reasons and people will see the truth!! It works!!!

The current administration has a warchest of over $100,000 to detract any possible opponents. Glacken wants to be the longest serving Mayor in the entire village's history, Renaire always needs to be in power, and Don Miller needs to be in office so if any possibilities open up, he can use his trusteeship as a springboard. The rumors I hear are that let's say Fuschillo decides to run for CE (which I doubt), it would be Don Miller who would become his successor.

Don MIller
01-05-2005, 10:12 AM
Baldwinite must be Don Miller because no one else has ever heard of him and the fact that anyone would think he would or could be a state senator is hilarious.

lol.....

Doubt it....lol....the whole world jumped into the VIllage race in the last week, Andrew Hardwick (with his slate) and James Caracciolo and Marianela Feliz Jordan (Suozzi and Jacob's backed slate)....and the incumbent Mayor and Board....lol....how many more people want to run? How many people are in that Village....and you thought Hempstead was bad....

What are the requirements for Mayor?

Is this a full time paid position?

What exactly are the duties of the Mayor?

Please answer honestly and keep the nasty remarks to yourself. I am asking for my kid. I do not want to speculate and give incorrect info.

Buck Smith
01-14-2005, 09:37 PM
You should really encourage your kid to pick a different topic for his report. But if you need to know, there are no requirements other than a heartbeat.

In order to be mayor you have to innitially have a desire to fix the "system" and help the community and unite constituants for the benefit of the majorty. It then becomes clearly evident that it is tougher to fight city hall from the inside than it is from the outside so the mayor slowly exits with the setting sun.

BUT, if you know any mayor (or trustee) that has been in office for more than one year, then you know that person is either stupid or is in it for another reason.

Any other questions? A better class project might be "what does it take to run a hot dog stand".

Freeport Mayor is a full time job with 4 parttime trustees. You oversee a 50+million dollar budget and if you need info for your kid call the Mayors office and they will give you what ever info you need

Wrong.... I checked the registration books. Raab is a Rep. Cullin is a Rep. Cullin said Raab has not decided to run yet. Hartwick is on a mission from God... he'll need it. Watch out for Raab... he's the most qualified to make the right changes.

How can someone run for Mayor, Trustee or dog catcher if they don't know what is going on. Hardwick hasnt been in Village Hall since Art Thompson was Mayor in 95. Carriciolo has not said anything in the limited number of times that he has come to village hall. Jordon was there once ....supporting the Mayor about a parade, Raab ran for judge without a law degree, and Bernie Smith thought that the village controlled the school taxes.

The real solution is
:?:

lol....remember James is running because "people like him." Jordan is running because she needs a stepping stone to the legislature, and because Suozzi wants her to. Hardwick is running because.....who knows....only job he might have come March? Raab is running.....again....who knows....Ferber is running because he has an agenda of....well, an agenda that does not help but only serves to keep hate going.

This update from the Trustee Debate

Jordon is clueless, she needs to find out what the facts are, she is running because she is hispanic and they need a hispanic representation on the board. They need someone on the board that will represent everyone.

Norris biggest issue is the bonding. However, he gives no alternatives. Over 85 million went for the substation and new power plant. 15 for water plant improvements. Maybe he doesnt want to fix parks and let them fall in disrepair like Hardwicks Cow Meadow.

Miller new facts like he should

Hardwicks trustee was busy running his illegal marina in cow meadow and was an hour late.

Jimmy C a likeable guy with no ideas. Thats why souzzi has demoted him from Deputy Parks commissioner to Director of Forestry.
Interesting that Raab doesnt mention he is on the school board.

Yes, from what I saw at the debate Raab does not want to have to say that he, as a school board member, raised and contimues to raise school taxes through the ceiling. So why say he is on the school board?

It was pretty plain that Jordan is a one issue candidate that is saying that she is running to be the voice of the community, but it is only one community she is running to be the voice for. Just ask her greatest supporter Chris Lopez.

Jimmy boy.....well not much to say there except he just can't hold on to a position within Suozzi's administration.

Norris does not understand finances...plain and simple.

Miller has a strong grasp of the issues. He has been on the board for 8 years.

The others just really have no clue about governing. They are running because they think they have the political bug, or they are being put up to it by sources in the County that they owe their souls to.

Her and her running mate :D say they will never vote to raise taxes in their first term. Jordon was with Wissler when he got knocked off, Wissler would not raise taxes,(zero zip nada your outer here) and because of that had no money to pay bills. If she or any of the other candiates had any idea how government works or in some cases doesnt work, I would listen to them. Hardwick was a republican then democrat. Norris, raab out there. Ferber nobody knows.

when is someone going to wake up! this village needs a new administration - top to bottom....trim the fat...too much waste. If the argument for warranting the existance of casinos, the rebuilding of the nautical mile, and the increased industry was that it would ease the burden on the residential taxpayer, well then, why are our taxes so similar to the rest of the county?

all things considered, our quality of life in freeport is horrible - at an all-time low, so why aren't our taxes? it really makes you wonder where all those commercial tax dollars are going.

Hey, has anyone seen her lately in Freeport. I still ask the question if she even lives in Freeport. Last I knew she lived in Hempstead. oops, did anyone really know that? I would check into that and expose her.

Now we can really see if she's interested in Freeport, what is she doing after the elections. I thought she was with the Spitzer team, so what's she's doing with Suozzi? Anyway, she's just in it for the exposure because I doubt she does anything in the Suozzi administration either. She's just riding the Suozzi wave of good fortune.

Why can't everyone leave James alone  the noise on the canal is so load it is like a rock concert at the garden. Glacken doesnt care cause he lives in the north. Glacken is done, who steps up is unknown. What choice will we be given? the village is run by the village attorney brother in law who lives in suffolk county. no one cares and thats why glacken gets away with everything.

how much are we paying for this?

Yes, I'm talking about Marienela, the one that ran on the basis of just Latinos and lost,...because everyone knows that she's no one in Freeport and has done nothing for Freeport. As I said before do we even know if she lives in Freeport?

All she does is go around taking pictures on the basis of Latino agendas, but I know we know they don't vote yet in the numbers that they should be. So, if Jordon was so good, why can't she get her own people to come out and vote?

School board member Pineyro is a true elected individual who is working hard for our schools.

Jordon needs to learn a few things or 2 from Pineyro.

Marienela's candidacy was never about the residents of Freepor, but about how she could further her own political future. Freeport is and was purely a stepping stone to her, and the voters saw through it. It is really that simple. Carmen is nit the answer either. Where is she? If she is so concerned about Freeport, why isn't she at the Board meetings? She only shows up duing budget time, other than that you never see her. Granted, most of us really do not go to board meetings, but if you want to run, you should be there.

Marianela is just pissed off because Ferrell got the County Clerk candidate slot. Marianela thought she had it in the bag. Oh, boo hoo!!

If she could not win Trustee in Freeport, how could she win Clerk in Nassau?

Of course everyone knows that jordon was not good enough. All she's good enough is to kiss ass and a little bit more and look down on her own people and those who she thinks she's better than.

Jordon has no credibility, no reputation, no goods, to even be director of that spanish agency that so call helps latinos.

I'm sure glad that she did not get the county clerk endorsement because that would have been an even bigger embarrassing situation for the democrats...jordon does not have what it takes to be an elected official and never will.

And Carmen, that's exactly right, she's not the answer either.

O.K., let's see, Jordan is not a good candidate, Pinyero is not either? Well, the current Administration must be getting hemrroids by now from some of the restaurants on Nautical Miles being up their butts. Who will be up and coming in Freeport? Certainly not, White (he is a clone of Glacken), not nasty Frierson-Davis, no, no to Mouseberger. Hmmmmmm, who will be stepping up to the plate?

Isn't Kennedy the one who is operating the marina at cow meadow park with underage drinking? Doesn't he have a friend in the county parks department that got himw the permit? I wonder when that is coming out? Another embarassment for Suozzi in the making.

Now that the election is over, any predictions as to what will happen in two years? Will Glacken bow out and let someone else take over or will he stay? Any other trustees thinking about retiring? Perhaps another Marienella candidacy? Considering that Miller won by such a small margin two years ago, will he want to go up against her again or will he bow out? All interesting questions.
