The ever-incompetent Islip Democratic committee and its non-chair Ivan Young have outdone themselves in 2009. They have allowed Phil Nolan and his cadre of egotists to throw away almost every advance the party has made over the past decade.

I'm a lifelong Democrat, but seeing Phil Nolan crash and burn is very, very sweet. He deserves the humiliation; his arrogance and incompetence are legendary and have been the hallmarks of the Islip Town races since he lucked into the Supervisor's seat after the collapse of the Islip Republican Committee in the wake of Pete McGowan's shameful behavior.

Phil forced out a very viable Democratic candidate in favor of his unqualified, unappealing son and handed an almost certain victory to a deserving Tom Cilmi and Frank Tantone.

Phil pushed forward another unqualified candidate in Jim Alcus, allowing the Republicans to bring the undeserving Tom Barraga to victory by simply bringing Alcus' ethical lapses and criminal convictions to public attention in the closing days of the campaign.

And Paranoid Phil actively worked to prevent a Jim Morgo victory by saddling the well-versed, well-respected, and well-liked Morgo with the junior running mate position on a ticket headed by the likable but ineffectual, incompetent, and ideology-challenged Chris Bodkin.

Phil Nolan -- the Islip Republicans' best weapon for taking back the town.

Totally spot on analysis.

That was an excellent analysis but it goes further. No one recognized the organization of the Town employees who are tired of the repressive tactics of this administration. No contract, layoffs, gps, timeclocks, mass disciplinary actions many without merit and constant threats to so many of us who just want to come to work, do our jobs and earn a fair living. We had enough. So we quietly organized, got our families, relatives, neighbors and friends to come to the polls and do us a favor. Enough co-workers all did the same thing. This was not about Dem/Rep politics. It was about the treatment of what was once a respected work force who are now treated as if we were a bunch of criminals and slackers. So we intended to take out our frustration on Bodkin who never did one positive thing on behalf of the workforce or anyone else for that matter, on Morgo who was probably the best of the four candidates and on Nolan junior.

And if things don't change around here, there will be a 5-0 Board in two years as long as the Republicans put up a team of candidates that can run the town with the respect and cooperation of the employees.

And on a personal note, goodbye to Mr Bodkin who didn't do anything except accommodate McGowan and Nolan in his entire career as a combined Conservative Republican/Liberal Democrat transformation. Could there already be a plan in effect to guarantee him that he will be given a Deputy Commissioner spot in this administration in January.

Why stop with Islip? Why not world domination?
