View Full Version : Long Beach Court System Scam?

Most counties/municipalities will give you a desk appearance ticket and let you walk if you have proper ID and don't act like a jackass. Certain smaller beach communities like LB and OB, OPB, etc., are real hardarses when it comes to quality of life issues, based partially on local complaints re: parking, noise, complaints about bars and their patrons, etc. There is also the revenue factor, which is considerable...the police make many arrests or issue many tickets, the local attys make money off the cases, the judge pleads the case down (avoiding trial time and costs) and issues a fine, the policeman's conviction record looks solid, the municipality makes money and the local gov't gets to brag about their war on quality of life issues. It's the same scam re: traffic tickets I've seen time and again..especially in Da Bronx while getting nicked for speeding over the Whitestone...MTBA cops issuing tickets left and right, everyone in court for the same offense, everyone pleads to the same reduced points and hefty fine. kangaroo court.
What the local authorities don't realize is that the more they keep this up, the more the local businesses will suffer. The majority of money coming into beach communities in the summer is from the 18-35 crowd...primarily the bar age crowd give or take a few years...harass them enough and they'll move on and really leave the town dry.

This is from a Local News Group-
We have always known drunk driving to be illegal and dangerous, but there is a new law in town, and unwritten law, which is punishable in 7 different ways. Long Beach Police are on the verge of handing
out countless tickets for “Disorderly Conduct.” THE ARE STANDING RIGHT OUTSIDE BARS DOORWAYS WHILE YOU WALK OUT!!! ENTRAPMENT?
For the first time in my life I got to see how the legal system works. I found I wasn’t the only one convicted of standing in the middle of the street or (Penal Law § 240.20. (5) - He obstructs vehicular or pedestrian traffic.) Others convicted were stopped outside “The Inn,” “Minnesota’s” or other Long Beach establishments by Long Beach Police.
I sat and paid attention; I wanted to see how others respond to the Honorable Judge. One by one the Judge called up those convicted over this holiday weekend, apparently The Judges speech was short,
sweet and fast. This wasn’t the first time he had given it. He made each person well aware that “standing in the street” or “obstructing vehicular or pedestrian traffic,” is punishable of up to 15 days in jail and/or a fine. I could tell I was also not the only person who was there for the first time.
I noticed most people were dumbfounded, 15 days in jail sticks out in your head. He asks “Would you like a Lawyer to represent you? And reminds you of how severe a punishment this can be. One by one everyone agreed to an attorney, the judge’s next question was, “Where do you work and how much do you
make?” Based on your salary the judge would rule on whether you deserve an attorney appointed by the
court or advised you that you make enough money and would have to find your own. Court appointed
attorneys were on hand to introduce themselves to their new clients, and a select few attorneys would
approach you if the judge said you could afford your own.
Leaving the room your in a state of disorder, believing you may have to serve jail time, of course you
will say yes to these attorneys waiting outside telling you I’ll get this knocked down would you like me to represent you.
Walking out, I realized the scam, it all made sense, it’s a vicious circle. The Judge scares you into getting an attorney, they make money, the court will lower your fine and everyone is happy.
The simple fact is regardless of whether you legitimately pissed off the cops or not.
Not knowing the Law or your rights will cost you some BIG $$$ for a violation.
Ive found that in most counties in NY Nassay, Suffolk, even NYPD, it is about a $35 fine, sometimes they even let you walk.
Long Beach is lookin for $$$. In fact there was a kid in court (definately not his first time there) who was advising poeple to hire a certain attorney who was there, claims he always gets people off.
Im trying to expose these people. If this has happened to you or someone you know please fill out the following.
1. If charged w/ disorderly conduct what section was it for?
2. Were you stopped directly outuside the bar by a LB Officer?
3. What day did you attend court?
4. What judge was in session that day?
5. Did the Judge attempt to coerce you into getting a Lawyer to come back?
6. Did the Judge try to exploit the fact you did not fully understand the law?
7. Was this your first time in court?
If not have you ever been convicted before Yes or NO?
8.Did the judge question wher you work and how much you make?
9. If they advised you to get your own council did a lawyer approach you in court?
10. How much were you lawyer fees?
11. Were you charged with the original conviction or did you receive a lesser charge woth a lawyer?
12. How much was your fine? Please include breakdown of fees.
13. Did you represent yourself?
14. Did you plead guilty what was your charge w/o re appearing in court? Please include breakdown of fees?

you can complain all you want about the cops, judges, lawyers , etc...etc... it is very simple. do not act like an @#%$ when you come out of Minnesota's, The Inn or any of the other west end bars. whether you care or not, people do live down there and most of them, believe it or not do not want you pissing on their front lawns and yelling and screaming at your friends. so the next time a police officer asks you to keep it down or get on the sidewalk, just listen to him. if you don't like it, just tell me where you live and i will be more than happy to go piss on your front lawn at 4am and wake up your neighborhood. and don't worry about the local businesses. there is no shortage of assholes 18-35 in new york state to come to long beach and spend their money.

He's basically another "collector" - see the site in the rumor's section on Look Who's Advising Suozzi. It's all a circle. They all get money and kickback some to Suozzi who kicks it out of the County into Kerry's coffurs so Suozzi can buy himself a DC job - and it's the taxpayers that he's getting the $ from and they don't even know it.

ANOTHER GOOD LINK THAT TIES ALOT OF STORIES TOGETHER - IF YOU ARE A "DUMP SUOZZI" GUY
IS IN THE NASSAU COUNTY SECTION. IT'S CALLED " I COULD HAVE HANDLED THINGS BETTER". i LIKE IT BECAUSE IT PICKS UP ON ALOT OF LITTLE THINGS GOING ON, AND WITHOUT THE LIBERTARIAN SLANT. PIECING THAT TOGETHER WITH THE "LOOK WHO'S ADVISING SUOZZI" HEADLINE UNDER THE RUMORS SECTION,SHOULD BE FATAL TO SUOZZI -WHETHER YOU ARE A DINAPOLI SUPPORTER OR A REPUBLICAN.

Tried to find those other posts referred to earlier and couldn't - maybe they got too hot and deleted them. In any event, former city planner Spiritis's lawyer brother was assigned to help Tepper's kid when they gave him a $90K job. This I know from several people is the truth. Apparently, the kid didn't know what to do when somebody actually answered a complaint on the car seizure cases he was suppose to head up. Typical on west street - the higher up they sent you - the less you knew. How come Spiritis is still playing over there with the Dems is a mystery, especially since Glen stepped off and then sued the TOH for a huge severance pkg. Seems the old guard GOP's are moving more toward the middle and hedging bets with Bogstead these days. They should be taken off one by one - play with them, or play against them. That's the only option for a true Republican.
DWI Car Forfeited
01-16-2005, 07:35 AM
I haven't seen a post about the car forfeitures in a long time. What's the status with that anyway?
Here's Because Why
01-20-2005, 07:13 PM
Because, in answer to your question, spiritis isn't capable of doing anything else and his job is being protected by none other than Senator King himself - who actually does have the dems shaking in their boots - even without tossing his hat into the ring.

One think it would be Damato not King since that's Damato's territory, not King's but I guess Damato's young wife has influenced his mind with him crossing over the line to endorse Sptizer for NYS Governor. It makes one wonder what kind of deals are being cut right here for control of the County?

Mark Spiritis is a conservative now - he's been telling people he's switching parties for a couple years now. Apparently, he's got a friend near Bogsted and his boss - herr Suozzi - seems to be embraced by them, or is going to become one of them - as well.

King's Protection
03-01-2005, 09:56 PM
King's protection was obviously worthless. Suozzi's people believe they are untouchable - and that includes the Republicans that still work for him and have turned against their own people. Let's see if TOH picks the ball now. It didn't for the others.
what does this mean?
03-02-2005, 06:08 PM
what's this about - this last post?
it means
03-02-2005, 11:39 PM
after he taught them how to do simple things that you'd think a $90K chief and a $75K deputy chief should know how to do before they get an entry level job, let alone supervisor jobs, even though he helped king's daughter and tepper's son, and kissed ass and jumped through hoops, those arrogant sociopaths fired him anyway. they are making serious enemies and the republicans still there are stabbing their own in the back and badmouthing peterson and their own kind - spying at gop meetings. these people in the administration think they are untouchable and they are way out of control, violating laws and rights all over the place. they must be stopped in november. they will be stopped.
Funny stuff
03-05-2005, 08:09 PM
So this is what they call improvement. The guy gets fired by a supervisor that never tried a case in her life, had to sue Hofstra Law School in 1992 to graduate, gets fired from her first (and only) law firm job by Lavelle who was so incensed by the unethical and incompetent behavior he writes to the board of law examiners to prevent her from becoming her lawyer, worked as a clerk at circula in long beach where her cousin got her a job and lied about her job title and duties on her resume and then claimed to work for a non profit group for a couple years when it was only a couple months. That's really improvement.
I know who that is
03-05-2005, 09:46 PM
She stole her cousin's resume - talks a real good game. Top notch manipulator. Her Ex husband - the second Ex told Judge Falanga in court that she also hired an illegal alien as a full time nanny for the kids. The kids call the nanny mommy because they only see the real mommy after the gym and the nanny even makes them dinner. He says she has an illegal apartment in the Island Park house too that she rents to other illegal aliens. She funnels law business from the latinos there through some lawyer in Manhattan all day at her County job and her taxes show whopping amounts of extra money. And they fired Spiritis huh?
they hate her
03-06-2005, 05:38 PM
She doesnt do anything all day - when she's there - but talk on the cell phone. She never did anything, but why should she. Those other ones never did anything either except call meetings so they could hear themselves talk. Ever notice how the same war stories get more and more exagerated? Ever notice how those with the least experience always seem to talk themselves up the most? Suozzi's minority committee put that one on the parole board too. Her 2 ex-husbands who know the real her better than anyone HATE her - she's really vindictive though. A terrible choice for parole board. Her own family says she stole $100,000 from her own mother.
Spiritis has until May to retire. That's what they told him.
I just thought I heard
03-11-2005, 06:04 PM
I just thought I heard they weren't allowed to do outside work? So how could his supervisor be making all this money on referrals? To get a referral, the grievance committee requires the attorney getting the referral to also be an active participant in the ongoing case. You can't just hand it over and wait for your money at the end. So either she's violating the county attorney's policy of no outside work, or the county attorney is permitting it on another basis (lets speculate - those who make a donation -) or she's not moonlighting and she's making this money and paying taxes on it in violation of attorney ethics in which case if she's reported, she should lose her license to practise law. Either way it's cheating. And this is someone Suozzi puts on the Parole Committee?
Harvey Does IT
03-11-2005, 07:37 PM
If Democrat Harvey Weisenberg can get a state grant for LB Police Radio's, why can't Tom Suozzi?
He was Set-up
03-14-2005, 09:52 PM
Drunk? What is all this nonsense? Hublebank, Mendez, Phelan, Reinharz were setting him up from the very start. Diane Dwyer complained because she heard him talking loud and angry - that's him if anybody who knows him knows he's like that when he's passionate about what he's talking about - and they jumped at that to use it as an excuse to force him to leave. The "new" managment team couldn't hold a candle to him. Even the guy who claims they put him up for Judge. Fat chance. The lawyer who did his "recommendation" is said to have told Mark although he said that guy would make a good judge (like he actually had a real chance LOL), it's only because this guy says he's such a lousy lawyer. Better to get him out of the court-room. MS knows all the family secrets and the real background of his alleged supervisor - Ken Diamond laughed out loud when he heard SHE was being retained. Balkin sent the "new" attorneys to follow-up on the OTHER one because she knew him from before Reinharz elevated him and knew he couldn't be trusted to follow-up on anything. The bureau chief is learning how to practice law at the taxpayer's expense and had no qualifications for the job. That's the democratic legislative majority blinding approving these appointments. Reinharz hires her when he himself is a laugh a minute. This is the staff Spiritis was stuck with. OF COURSE Dwyer overhears him talking loud and angrily. And anybody who knows Dwyer knows she ain't exactly always a "lady" herself. The whole office is a disgrace. GO PETERSON IN NOVEMBER !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Full time Nannies
03-16-2005, 10:13 PM
I wonder if the two with brand new Honda Pilots and cruise ship vacations who pay their full time Nannies weekly salary take out the right amount of taxes against their salary and cover them for worker's compensation, disability ect. If they aren't declaring them as employee isn't that illegal? I mean, aside from the fact the other poster brought up about the one on the Parole Committee hiring illegal aliens as paid mother substitutes. And incidentally, how come I saw Spirtis the other day getting into a beaten down old car while that other supervisor was tearing down the street in an E class Mercedes Benz? What the hell does Suozzi pay his hatchmen these days?
Financial Disclosure Form
03-17-2005, 05:57 PM
They have to file financial disclosure forms with Bonnie Garone's department and those are documents open to public inspection. Just check them out. Problem is, since Suozzi and the democratic majority controlled legislature took over, they eliminated from the forms the important stuff that really we want to know - like the specifics of where extra money is coming from, county contracts given to immediate or extended family members and political contributions.
Who's the lawyer?
03-18-2005, 02:36 PM
Who's the lawyer that did the judge recommendation but said the guy was one of the worst trial lawyers - a lousy lawyer or something?
Everyone Knows
03-19-2005, 12:24 AM
He tells everyone. Just ask any regular walking around family court. The lawyer was asked because he opposed the "supervisor" in a 3 week child abuse case and lost but on the facts - not on the technique. On the technique he saw this "supervisor" was a BAD litigator & the lawyer's not shy about telling people that. 400 cases the supervisor boasts that he tried but I guess as a law guardian - participant having never represented an adult - never defending a lawsuit or procuring one - it's not real good "trial" experience sitting at that counsel table. NICE guy though - until you really get behind the smile.
Well I dont know
03-19-2005, 04:09 AM
I guess everyone but me. Who the hell are you talking about?
Helpful Henry
03-20-2005, 11:18 PM
It was Ed Galison. The only reason he lost that one was because the abused kid testified in camera and was so heart-wrenching in describing the sex abuse that went on that Judge Eisman started bawling and when the Judge cries - YOU LOSE! If it wasn't that they had the kid testify, he would have won, which is real scary, since his client did it.
Sue P
03-21-2005, 05:50 AM
Who is the cousin whose identity was stolen by the supervisor and did that woman who only sees her kids after the nanny feeds them dinner (apparently just in time to put them to bed) get custody of them in the divorce? This is like a soap opera.
Not identity theft
03-21-2005, 07:46 PM
The cousin ran Circula and she was doing clerical stuff but said she had a high level adminstrative-management job. She didn't - she was a secretary sort - it was her cousin. And she said she was a lawyer for DV Coalition which is where she started meeting people in family court. Again. Lie. She wasn't ever a lawyer there. All she was was an advocate-spanish interpreter. She just went with them and interpreted for them. DV Coalition does have lawyers they'd call to represent the clients - but she wasn't one of them. NSLS gig was also part fictional - noone knew her to be there the time she says except her "supervisor" who she used to socialize with. That's her way. She picks people to befriend when she can get use out of them - then drops them when they aren't getting her what she wants. Like she asked a politically connected woman to be a bridesmaid - even though they really weren't close - for her connections. The kids godfathers are wealthy - not family. That's what I've been told. The cousin is political in long beach, in fact, when she needed work it was none other than spiritis who hired her in the first place.

Check out the Long Beach City website - just try not to get the California ones. They, unlike the Town of Hempstead, post jobs on the website. If the criteria isn't there I say - just send an application over. I imagine anyone in Law School is qualified - but I couldn't guess what political party is ahead over there anymore. The superblock is not the same issue. The issue the LB council is looking for public input is whether or not the core of engineers should investigate issues of shoreline erosion of the beach. That they want public input. Obviously they expect everyone to say yes. The superblock is the high rise luxury condo buildings they want developed on the free land they plan on condemning for public use. The cheapest unit is expected to be about 1/2 a million dollars. So you have luxury owners laying on a beach infested with gang members and welfare recipients from the public housing hotels which are being knocked down and the "tenants" dispersed among the unsuspecting residents of other buildings. This they would expect the public to vote no on - so they aren't asking your opinion of that. But you should probably tell them anyway!
Helicopters on roof
04-12-2005, 07:10 PM
And are these people buying their $550K summer condos on the waterfront going to helicopter back and forth? Because there is no parking down the beach as it is, and the traffic is already pathetic. Long Beach is a beach community that they are turning into Coney Island. Maybe all the city people are planning on taking the train back and forth. Then Suozzi's taxi and limo commission will have something to do and their friends can all get some good business right after LB takes care of their developer friends. We can call the Superblock Nickerson Town. It can sell tickets to Suozzi's Zoo and give out vouchers for one free trip to Wangville.

after he taught them how to do simple things that you'd think a $90K chief and a $75K deputy chief should know how to do before they get an entry level job, let alone supervisor jobs, even though he helped king's daughter and tepper's son, and kissed ass and jumped through hoops, those arrogant sociopaths fired him anyway. they are making serious enemies and the republicans still there are stabbing their own in the back and badmouthing peterson and their own kind - spying at gop meetings. these people in the administration think they are untouchable and they are way out of control, violating laws and rights all over the place. they must be stopped in november. they will be stopped.
It wasn't King's daughter - it was King's niece. Her father works in the family court building too, for the court not the county I believe.

"400 cases the supervisor boasts that he tried but I guess as a law guardian - participant having never represented an adult - never defending a lawsuit or procuring one - it's not real good "trial" experience sitting at that counsel table."
I ask you now - what is this suppose to mean?
What ever happened to Larry Brennan is a thread at twinforks.com that discusses these issues about law guardian experience precisely. If you're interested in a discussion about that - see that site.

Hey, Long Beach fans. Remember the threads some time ago about the way the Dems screwed up the rent stabilization and the landlords got a $6 million judgment against the City?? All you Long Beach experts spent lots of time blaming this on the Dems, Cammarato, etc. You stopped blasting everyone in sight when the judgment was reversed on appeal. Now, the Court of Appeals has agreed that the judgment never should have been granted.
And, for the conspiracy theorists among you, guess who represented the City in getting the judgment overturned? The Suozzi law firm=!!
So you mean
04-21-2005, 10:04 PM
Meyer Suozzi is screwing the low income tenants on behalf of the county executive and you're boasting about that? Suozzi is all about the citification and urbanization of Nassau County and will do whatever it takes to defend his slumlord landlord friends and contractors and developers and will continue to hurt the working class people of the county. Now apparently, he's reaching out to destroy LB the same way he did GC. Incidentally, you do know daddy's daddy is a justice on the appellate division don't you?
Stupid and Stupider
04-22-2005, 10:56 AM
blind anti-Suozzism shows up again. First of all, the City was on the side of the tenants, against the landlords. The City, represented by the Myer Suozzi firm, won the case, thus protecting the tenants.
And, Suozzi's father hasn't been a judge for nearly twenty years.
Some people are so blinded by their political venom that they can't see straight or think at all. Isn't there a way to prohibit morons from posting?
Suozzi lawyers
04-22-2005, 06:59 PM
Meyer Suozzi is outside counsel. Tom Suozzi is county executive. Outside counsel does whatever it's client says to do. County executive is suppose to enforce laws or change the ones that hurt the taxpayers. Meyer Suozzi did what the Republicans told them to do. Tom Suozzi backs development, building luxury rentals on the North Shore and welfare hotels on the South Shore. Tom Suozzi sides with slumlords of illegal housing units as long as they pay a higher proportion of County taxes to illegally rent to illegal aliens that make their money hanging out at the day laborer sites he set-up in Glen Cove. As long as they go home to live and drink their beer in Long Beach.
Idiots on the loose
04-22-2005, 11:50 PM
Nice theory. But, the law firm was hired by the adminstration when Nyman was the City Manager, and Cammarado was the leader.
The City has always sided with the tenants, and hired the law firm to defend it. Notwithstanding ridiculous conspiracy theories on this board, Tom Souzzi had nothing to do with it.
Don't be naive
04-23-2005, 05:24 PM
Suozzi = Democrat. Zapson was Suozzi's right hand and when his arse got kicked out of the district - Suozzi was left gaping. Even now he's aiming to get rid of Ford as one of his legislative targets and Nyman and Cammarato are Suozzi allies. Agreed - there is a whole faction of Pro-DiNapoli Democrats out there against Suozzi but LB is not one of those towns because right now, it's too important to them to take back LB. True also, if Suozzi had his way, he'd have sided with the Landlords although SAYING he's siding with the tenants - a thing he does best. And who do you think recommended the outside counsel contract? How much did they make on that case versus how much did they give back in Suozzi contributions? It all goes around and comes out in the same place. Besides, right now it's in Suozzi's best interest that the tenants won because for all his TALK about low income housing - he has to put them somewhere and you know he's not putting them up in the North Shore or Garden City areas so LB will become for him, the new Glen Cove dumping ground for undesirables. Wait and see the day laborer huts start popping up all over Island Park.

$7 beach pass - not 4 me
04-26-2005, 01:06 AM
I know they think $7 a day is gonna make them more money but I say it's gonna cost them more money before the day is out 'cos at $5 a day I was getting sick of the crowds, by $6 a day I turned around after trying to find nearby parking for 2 hours and for $7 a day I'm driving directly to the County Beach next door. The hell with Long Beach. At least, I'll use the County Beach until Tom Suozzi gets sick of pretending to upkeep it and then sells it off on us. Bye Bye Long Beach - I've had fond memories but all good things die.

It was never about making you, the daytripper , happy. If you were dumb enough to pay, great. But getting rid of you and your car makes the residents happy. So what if next year the resident fee will go through the roof because we've lost our daily customers. The Coalition thinks that Long Beach taxpayers have an endless supply of funds to keep taxes down and fees up.(I know... taxes are deductible on you federal return and fees are not...too bad) They are going to put coin operated drinking fountains on the boardwalk and toilets and showers, too, to keep those water and sewer fees in line. Go for a swim and a steam now since recreation fees will go up as the rec roof tiles continue to come down on our heads. It's good to be in Long Beach now that Jimmy and Tom and Mona are in charge of our personal discretionary spending.

Train Tripper
05-13-2005, 07:23 PM
All the increase in beach fees is going to do is discourage the day tripping Town of Hempstead beachgoer from driving to Long Beach Boardwalk and buying lunch or dinner and maybe doing some errands on the way home from a day of spending money on the shores of Long Beach. Instead, they'll go to the Town Beach for $5.50 a carload. What it will encourage are the City People who take the train in - no worries about parking and they can't get onto the Town Beaches anyway, plus the trains run much more frequently then the Jones Beach bus. Plus, those folks usually pack a BIG cooler with food and drinks - they aren't spending a dime on food or anything else. They will pay their $8 fee, or whatever it is - and spend the entire day and most of the night with their boomboxes and their kids and coolers and their smokes. And that will become Long Beach's new demographic area.

BECAUSE - they already hired someone for his slot but they didn't fire him because another co-worker - also who worked for NYC previously - was fed-up with the supervisor there because she cheated on her timesheet, knew nothing and did less - and agreed to transfer to another department to do negligence cases since somebody over there quit (people are always leaving that place). That made another slot for the new hiree and MS was told - you're lucky - instead of firing you, we'll give you a few months (weeks?) to get your act together and file your retirement papers instead. It's alot more then most people got.

The GOP Supervisors

So what are his phony "Republican" supervisors Mendez and Phalen gonna do - pretend to be good Republicans while secretly supporting their boss, Suozzi, and playing on team Suozzi with all the other imported transplants acting out some scripted Suozzi play - Or switch to Bogsted's team and pretend to walk the middle line while really preserving their own measly jobs at the expense of their party, their County and their integrity - of which - they have none left? What about the few left over in West Street - will they do the right thing and leave their posts now - or ride the gravy train till the end of the track? And how will Peterson handle these untrustworthy leaches when he takes the place over?
The Smoothie man

Not only is the beach more expensive but so is the boardwalk. The prices on the concessions are up up and up and the quality is down down down. The smoothie man used to use real fruit - now it's all powdered crap and not an ounce of real fruit juice - let alone any fruit. And it's more expensive than ever. No wonder all the kids are drinking beers. That's the LB direction boy. Get out while you can still sell.
The Sun Went Down
06-09-2005, 08:28 PM
This was a quote pulled off the 516 politics dot com website off the family court thread that they have going there. It's one of the only threads that the hacker who hacked onto that website wasn't able to delete. But it looks like, if this is true, Spirtis has finally been forced to kiss the grass.
"County attorneys office is not only too harsh on children, but as well, go after child abuse when case law and statutory law says it is not abuse. I think they are too often frustrated they are not the District Attorneys office, most are not good enough for the DA's office anyway. I laugh when they refer to themselves as prosecutors. And I find it very telling. Mark Spiritis who recently left the county attorneys family court bureau office was probably the best lawyer they had, and the most realistic."
Ah - so much for realism in Suozzi's fantasy land of Zoos and skycraper villages.

Helicopter Port
06-15-2005, 08:57 PM
These Hotels better have a rooftop helicopter port because helicopter is the only way people are going to be getting around in that place anymore - it's one big rush hour parking lot - all day and all night. Been there on a weekend lately? What a laugh. How much are they losing from the day trippers summer spending money? I hear they're all booking North to Suffolk County beaches instead - the surrounding businesses like delis and supermarkets have already seen a surge in profits from last year. LB is dying - just like Suozzi is killing off the rest of the County.

Falanga on Custody

Who is the cousin whose identity was stolen by the supervisor and did that woman who only sees her kids after the nanny feeds them dinner (apparently just in time to put them to bed) get custody of them in the divorce? This is like a soap opera.
Final result - apparently Judge Falanga thinks a woman who gets home after the nanny feeds the kids dinner - just in time to throw them in bed - should get custody over a doting man who is willing to dedicate his every waking hour to the kids?

What is that stupid program in the LB schools that the Spanish speaking kids take classes in English and the English speaking kids take classes in Spanish? How long is this crap going on? Since when do English speaking American children have to take classes in Spanish - isn't it hard enough to learn at the elementary school and middle school grades without forcing children to take Spanish? And what about German, Polish, Italian, Dutch, or a million other languages instead? I can't believe this program exists and that it is funded with Federal tax dollars. Spanish language kids should be in English classes and their parents should be paying for English lessons in the kids can't keep up. Enough of this crap already.

Found this posted on page 4 or 5 of this thread. Isn't anybody investigating this? They say someone is investigating the internet usage but you can't trace private cell phone calls for those conducting outside business on county time - or what about those really sneaky people carrying their own laptops around? I say - make them do daily timesheets accounting for their time like they do in every other law firm. Then you'd see just how many high paid lawyers sit around either doing nothing all day or work that a much lower paid, non-lawyer could easily do.
Suozzi's next scandal
07-18-2005, 12:15 AM
Yes, that would be interesting allright. How many of Suozzi's employees - especially with the salary's he pays them - might have their own employees - nannies, housekeepers that are themselves illegal, paid off the books, ect. and how many have them illegally "living in" homes zoned only as single family - family members only - and how many have illegal basement apartments that they rent out - whether or not to legal or illegals? I bet there's a significant number. Too bad there is nobody to report them too because nobody in Suozzi's administration who should be investigating that sort of thing, does investigate it. Maybe some ambitious reporter on the Long Island Press would be interested in a few phone calls.

County employee's are in a different position than a non-county employee taxpayer or resident. They should be held to a higher standard, especially with all the noise being created by Levinson. And especially for employees in a fiduciary or management level position.
If Suozzi can't keep his own business clean - how can he campaign on enforcing laws against everyone else?

Ford is DONE
07-26-2005, 08:16 PM
I think Ford was a fluke - Republicans running LB just can't be right. I think Murray is done too - TOH has been a closed shop patronage mill that has frustrated too many people who can't get jobs there without heavy republican connections. Ciotti is weak in the 18th because Mirza is bringing in all the foreigners from Elmont, Franklyn Square & West Hempstead so even with all else - the GOP can lose the Legislative majority. Unless Mondello starts funneling money into Peterson - the only hope the GOP really has left - it's all over and if the GOP lose in 2005 - it could well be another decade before they take back Nassau County. NYC will swallow up Long Island.

Now I hear the first guy is still on his own and just hiring MS to do some court appearances for him while MS is looking for his own work and handling it out of the house. All plans on hold but the TOH is probably looking better and better.
Timesheet fraud

Found this posted on page 4 or 5 of this thread. Isn't anybody investigating this? They say someone is investigating the internet usage but you can't trace private cell phone calls for those conducting outside business on county time - or what about those really sneaky people carrying their own laptops around? I say - make them do daily timesheets accounting for their time like they do in every other law firm. Then you'd see just how many high paid lawyers sit around either doing nothing all day or work that a much lower paid, non-lawyer could easily do.
Anything doing with this? Also heard one of these chicks is the same one who filled in 9 to 5 on all the employee's timesheets so her bureau looked good, even though that's not when they were working and she was skipping off on fridays while the other sups ones were running off for child care and medicals without deducting hours.
Different kinds of Fraud
10-10-2005, 01:33 AM
Yeah, that bureau chief and her deputy are the same ones people are saying have full time nannies but are they paying all their taxes and covering them for workers comp and disability and is that deputy really renting out to illegals? Rumors but if proven true - wow! Nice plug for a GOP victory in 2005 huh? Anybody looking into this?
Spiritis loses round one
10-10-2005, 01:36 AM
Did anybody hear that Glen lost round one of his court case against the village of hempstead for payment he says they owe him for services rendered because he didn't submit the details of what he did with his timesheets? All nassau county employees should be required to submit the details of what they do on a daily basis - an hourly basis for upper level employees making over a certain salary - and then we'd all see what a waste suozzi's "team" really is.
Paper Trial
10-20-2005, 10:37 PM
To the previous poster: Spiritis only lost a paper trial - the judge just said he wasn't ruling in Spiritis' favor on papers alone but the case wasn't dismissed. Spiritis can still continue in court at a real trial - and instead of papers he can call witnesses. It's not over yet.
To the poster before that: The family law bureau chief is the one who came in without any experience as a friend of Reinharz - owed too much time to the NYC DA to go back there plus moved out of the jurisdiction. She's the one who came in and filled out all the employee timesheets back in 2001-2002-2003 or thereabout, herself so she looked good, pretending everybody came in from 9 to 5 when she herself and her staffers were coming and going at all hours - especially the "senior staff", the "supervisors" putting in if they were lucky, 3 good work hours a day.
I'm telling

So if you want to report them - where do you turn them in? Maybe the New York Post will be interested in the story. They seem to like the truth, and aren't afraid to print it.

Why doesn't those posts get deleted? That's slamming.
Back to the actual topic here - Long Beach - not selling tickets.
Does anybody know if Glen threw his hands up or is he active in the Long Beach campaigning again - he pulled off the coo in 2001 and I'm wondering if he's been active in this one again?

Long Beachers just threw up their hands and gave up.

If Senator King's legislation passes, people who hire illegals, as nannies or gardeners or laborers, will be felons - aiding and abetting criminals. And good. That's what they are and that's what they should be. But what if you hire a gardener who uses illegals or you hire a contractor who uses illegals? Any affirmative responsible to check into that and fire them or do you get dragged in as a co-conspirator?
By the way - fines for failing to have insurance on full time domestics runs more than $200 a day.
About Sen. King's Felons
03-11-2006, 05:55 PM
What about renting to illegals? If you rent to an illegal can you be prosected under the bill as well? That would be a good bill. What about lawyers who represent the community of illegals in places like Island Park? They tried to pull that off with medicaid - tried to legislate against lawyers who counselled people how to get around the medicaid laws so they could qualify and made it illegal for the lawyers to counsel them. It didn't last long. Can they try it again - not against lawyers defending illegals in INS court or criminal court - but lawyers who counsel illegals how to use our courts to prosecute claims? Laws now say illegals who fall down, crash cars, get hurt at "work" - they are all allowed to use our courts to sue legal citizens. Where do you think they get the money to buy homes and cars? What's that about? Criminals shouldn't prosper by their crimes and when you come here illegally - just being here is a crime.
Laws require respect
03-11-2006, 07:00 PM
Agreed. If you can't respect the law enough to come into the country legally, then you shouldn't be able to use the law to your advantage either. The country's laws are for the protection of our citizens. If you aren't a citizen, you shouldn't be protected by them.

Rent a room at the new Patchogue Motel oops Hotel
Too far to commute
03-13-2006, 09:52 PM
Patchogue is a bit far. Why go there when Long Beach has plenty of converted multi-dwelling homes right in town? And when the spill over from Island Park move South, the plan is - develope more luxury rentals since the rich will have a plethora of illegal hired help to raise their kids, clean their homes and wash their car. Nobody suffers. Well, nobody but the middle class. Middle class. What's that?
Wang's Tram
03-16-2006, 09:31 PM
Perhaps Wang can build a wonkermobile in the sky connecting his lighthouse in uniondale to a new multi story apartment building complex he can build in long beach.
Zoning cease fire
03-17-2006, 09:39 PM
LB Dems won't zone any new property to be multi-dwelling - no legal mother/daughters. This to guarantee their buddies the slum lords in existence get to keep the market to themselves. Nothing doing to round up the illegal multi-dwellings, especially those with the basement apartments that are renting out on the bay side.
Beach fee Increase
04-29-2006, 11:55 PM
Now I'm getting charged $8 to get onto Long Beach sand and surf. Its nuts.
Forest Park
05-02-2006, 07:53 PM
Forest Park in Queens is free admission including the attractions. Eisenhower is free except if you want to actually DO anything you pay per item. Nassau is definitely doing things wrong. No free beaches, no free anything. We pay and then we pay again.
Alley Pond Park
05-06-2006, 12:43 AM
Also all free all the time. NO parking fees either.
how could you be getting charged when they aren't even collecting yet? the website for LB shows same prices as last year. they went up two years ago.
Illegals & Gangs
06-12-2006, 07:23 PM
They are going to have to start figuring out how to keep the illegals who pay no property taxes and the gangs from using the boardwalk for free for their meeting places and congregating in masses which is chasing off the families that wish to enjoy the beach in peace. It's going to have to get to the point where they move the booths to the steps at the bottom of the boardwalk and you will have to pay to get onto the boardwalk, whether or not you also intend on going onto the beach.
Green Cards
06-17-2006, 07:09 PM
If they really want to clean-up LB and make a family oriented summering spot again - they should just card people attempting to enter the beach and surrounding facilities and work a deal with the feds to have a mobile INS unit on duty there.
A fast way to clean up the neighborhood and restore its beauty and charm.
Island Park will take the overflow the carding process misses.
After Elmont - that should be the next place in line that Kate concentrates on.
Lucrative Parking Scheme
07-09-2006, 11:02 PM
The City of Long Beach should just set up a valet parking service to beachgoers. That'll put an end to the property tax increases suffered by the residents there.
Private Beach
07-29-2006, 06:49 PM
How about roping off a section of the beach and boardwalk and using it exclusively for LB legal residents and their families? They have to show their social security cards to gain membership.
Island Park reeks with illegals roaming the streets and committing mayhem. Nobody in the village, or the Town of Hempstead or Nassau County has the GUTS to do anything.
Can you imagine Kate Murray leading a raid in Island Park on illegal housing in conjunction with village and County officials. And what would one find: Illegals.
Maybe take a page from Sheriff Joe Arpaio featured on Hannity & Colmes would be refershing start for these cowardly politicians.

You should NEVER, I repeat NEVER hire an attorney who loiters in ANY court looking for clients. They are bottom feeders.
I would take extra steps to avoid a particular attorney associated with the American Red Cross. She's a lowlife.

Maybe because Suozzi has in his administration lawyers and appointees that hire illegals as Nannys and Housekeepers and rent their illegal basement apartment apartments out to them and their hispanic friends. How embarassing would that be if we started calling those in as reports? People have been complaining about Mayor Troiano for years, yet he keeps getting re-elected and keeps on keeping on with his Pro-Suozzi buttons that he wore during the last County Executive election.
Money Maker

Give the illegals a squeegee and let them wash parked cars for a few bucks while you hang at the beach. The next political fundraiser.

Oct 7 is st pats day n lb

dont forget st pats day is october 7 in long beach - open bars, topless people and the big parade
I just received two moving violation tickets over the weekend - does anyone know an easy way to get out of them?
yea, pay the tickets. :D :D :D
Request accompanying depositions. If they aren't timely sent - they get dismissed. Request hearings. If the cop doesn't show twice - they get dismissed. Pay a lawyer. Mine listened to what the cop said - cop has to make his case first. If the cop doesn't say exactly the same place, time ect. that's on the ticket - they get dismissed. If the cop doesn't say everything he needs to say to make the case - it gets dismissed. Lawyers know what is missing from the testimony and that's basically the best chance for dismissal. Technicalities. Especially if you drive for a living and can't risk the points on your license.

Yes its all in VTL 1111 .....its called going through a steady red signal. Its red till its no longer red silly
Intersect Jumper
07-13-2008, 05:44 PM
We calle it jumping the light. You stop. You wait. You see the light on the crossroads is red and the cars all stopped. You proceed through the intersection seconds before your red light changes green. Not sure that qualifies under VTL as going through a red light. Might be worth seeing what a judge does with that.
The free tour
08-08-2008, 07:54 PM
And are these people buying their $550K summer condos on the waterfront going to helicopter back and forth? Because there is no parking down the beach as it is, and the traffic is already pathetic. Long Beach is a beach community that they are turning into Coney Island. Maybe all the city people are planning on taking the train back and forth. Then Suozzi's taxi and limo commission will have something to do and their friends can all get some good business right after LB takes care of their developer friends. We can call the Superblock Nickerson Town. It can sell tickets to Suozzi's Zoo and give out vouchers for one free trip to Wangville.
Sorry about the parking and traffic problems - must be all those city people recruited on the suozzi tour america - um - I mean tour long island campaign. Guess it worked.
Tom's Trip
08-08-2008, 07:58 PM
Soon that'll be the whole Nassau County demographic - run, managed and organized by outsiders for outsiders.

Did the cop have a tv crew following him? Might have been a slow tv news day. Make sure you get your fair share of the loot when the pilot gets televised.
