My opinion is that no one is above the law including a Police Chief wether be Northport Chief or Suffolk Chief or NYPD chief . The bottom line if indeed these charges are true and hes found guilty on any of the charges he should be held accountable. I donr think he should be fired but at least demote him to Sergeant which I beleive is the next lower rank.
And for what its worth I never supported the Northport Mayor and never will ,but if hes right on this issue I give him credit for taking a stand on this issue

They want to turn areas surrounding our village with apartment over stores. They feel they now have some sort of mandate to do this. This will greatly effect our Village. As you all know the traffic along Larkfield road, Elwood road and Commack road are already crowded with speedsters and semi's doing 20 and 30 mph over speed limit.
When Housing Help gets their project built on Elwood road and Pulaski look for even more congestion and higher taxes.

If the Village had any b*lls they would just have the village Atty. file criminal charges against Ric and every Nport cop who either gave or accepted unlawful gratuities. They are both class A misdemeanors. To give or receive additional compensation that you are not entitled to as a public servant for acts that you are required to perform. Ric gave his cops additional time off as a thank you for his first year as Police Chief. Nice sentiment, but not legally allowed.

The Northport Cops need to make at least $200k a year because they have it so hard and you could never get anyone to take that job at 60k a year. Yeah , Right??

It's all about money. Npt. villages elected village idiots don't like the cops. It costs money to run the dept. The village idiots do like the quality of life that a village dept. maintains. If you don't believe me just look back a few years ago. Greenport village mayor Dave Kapel pushed hard and disbanded the Greenport Vill. PD. The policing services were in theory picked up by Southold Town PD. The very next thing that occurred is that w/o the village PD around to keep the lid on the majority of the dirt bags Greenport had an explosion of crime. What did our liberal hero Kapel do? The mayor sued the Southold town PD and DEMANDED more police protection. Needless to say he didn't really get it from Southold. Guess what whiners you can't have it both ways. Go ahead disband the Npt. village PD. Instead of having at least 2 cops on patrol for every shift you will just be absorbed by the SCPD sectors that abut the village. Needless to say the County cop responsible for covering the village will now just have a larger area to patrol and your quaint little village quality of life will mimic that of Greenports where in the recent past drug dealers have had running gun battles with rifles in the evening hours along main street. Don't believe me? Check with mayor Kapel of Greenport or do a little research via that bastion of un-truth Newsday. Either way dump slick Ric.

At least if Pete gets rid of the Northport PD I am sure lots of Northport hubbys will be happy , I wont mention names but I hear that a certain individual on the force is taking care of housewifes, or it could be hes making sure that everything is ok. ahhh thats it oops

The village attorney will get a court order and they will be forced to testify. In my opinion the chief will retire before the hearings end. Then again that strictly my opinion
