View Full Version : Demonstrate Against Levy Now !

We Should
10-25-2009, 12:29 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you speak with other Unions such as the Steam fitters, Plumbers or Carpenters unions they all say the same thing. You start negotiations long before your contract expires not long after the way AME does it. Your union reps should start pushing management to the bargaining table long before your contract expires. Why do successful unions do this, so that they can get a feel for what management is thinking long before their current contract expires. If management stalls negotiations you demonstrate, you make management uncomfortable with any means possible. You don't tell your membership that the negotiating committee met 12 times insinuating that negotiations are well under way. Cheryl is spewing more pure garbage trying to mislead the members into thinking that she has our best interests in mind. Well that's pure crap. The 12 meetings she mentions were between our negotiating team (what a joke that is), no one that represents Levys team were ever at any of those meetings so whats the point. Cheryl will tell you that these meetings are necessary to establish strategy and to get feedback from the members, well that may be all true but why wait until the contract is expired for the better part of a year to start. These tactics that Cheryl uses to negotiate our contracts are wrong. Either she is in Levys pocket or she is completely unqualified to secure a fair contract. I have to believe that she is in his pocket and this is why. First and foremost... how can she state she is doing everything possible to protect her members when she allows Levy to piss all over us by demoralizing the workforce with threats of layoffs, the decimation of the county workforce by not filling vacant positions that are currently funded by clueless taxpayers. I'm not talking about a few empty chairs, my office is turning into a ghost town. Why does Cheryl give away benefits without asking the members their feelings concerning matters that concern their paychecks?
Why haven't we demonstrated against Levy? Why is it that Cheryl does nothing to get Levy to the table, why don't we surround the Dennison building the way we did when we had Charlie Novo running this union. I was there, there was the strongest feeling of solidarity at those demonstrations. Remember "JUMP HALPIN JUMP" Soon after we where getting 2 steps per year. Salaries and moral where at an all time high when we had solid leadership and real unity. If nothing else Cheryl has been very successful in dividing this union. We are the laughing stock for managements amusement, I wish you could hear them as they laugh behind our backs.. Please think about this.Cheryls record is horrible. The last contract we got we voted on without knowing the full terms (new employees got shafted good) and because we wait so long to start negotiations we get to give away the first year of the contract. That first year of 0 % is Cheryls gift to Levy, get ready if we stay with Cheryl we will give Levy 2009 also. What did Levy do for Cheryl to cause her to sell us out, who knows we will find out when it's all over. People like Teabag can praise her all they want, the truth of the matter is so plain to see when all you have to do is ask yourself WHY did she continuing to let contract negotiations sit on the back burner and never heat up? Because she is in Levys pocket and does not want to upset her little friend !! Go ahead teabag, it's your turn to spin your bullshit, please explain why Cheryl has done NOTHING but give it all away for the past several years, oh and I hear the open meeting Tuesday night is going to be very interesting.

didn't see it yet but was told something was in the paper regarding our health insurance. Apparently there is now a monetary value on our county health insurance. For those that lost their benefits because you are married to another county employee and were told that there was no value this info is very important!

Every time your turn around something new has been added to the benefit mess. Did you hear if it is in our favor?
Please keep us informed with anything you hear.

The Publice Employee Federation which represents Stony Brook workers has been on record & in the paper fighting the mandatory flu & H1N1 vaccines for their health care workers, and now the "Cadillac" tax on health benefits....

Why isn't our union standing up & fighting these 2 things? AME has lots of health care workers and every member would be effected by the "Cadillac" tax...

AME is not off the hook for failure to act because the Governor rescinded the mandate on the vaccines for healthcare workers...I know that some healthcare workers took it upon themselves to rally against the mandates but no "call to arms" came from AME to support their fellow workers.....

There's no unity...just emphasis on what supports the agenda of the president and BOD....

Levy may be messing with CSEA benefits and so on but as a Suffolk taxpayer, I have to say his policies in general have been good for me AND he is one of the very few politicians standing his ground on the illegal immigration issue.

Look Deeper...

How has the dismantling of county institutions been good for you? As a taxpayer, you've already paid for these services and in the interest of one shot savings, Steve has deconstructed them. Look around you, our society is becoming more intolerant, there are longer waits for essential services, crime is rising, and the federal government is investigating county agencies and policies.

If these trends continue, do you really think this county is going to be a desirable place to live in ten years? Who do you think is going to pay the price to build these institutions back up to functionale levels after Steve rides out of town?

Levy WAS strong on the illegal immigration issue. That was until he made some stupid insensitive remarks regarding an illegals" unfortunate murder. He fell right into the trap of the advocates for the illegals. It was soon after he was holding hands with them and singing "KUMBAYA".Little Stevie hates bad publicity more than he loves doing the right thing. He's been backpeddling ever since!
And what policies are you reffering to? Taxing you for employees he never hired? Cancelling programs he approved of but never intended to see through and then claim a savings to the taxpayer? How about that plan for a park he cancelled claiming the county saved a million dollars. Of course he was right about the county not spending a million dollars. What he didn't tell you was it was reimbursable by the federal government. Goodbye free county park! Thanks, Steve! Oh, and lets not forget the boneheaded move of shutting off the heat in the winter in one of the county buildings (Dennison, I believe). The pipes froze and burst and really cost the taxpayers $$$$$. Have you ever bothered to break down your tax bill? What savings? Don't believe the hype!! Do a little research! What bills did he write while in in Albany? He just hid in his office and stayed below the radar. Didn't do much of anything. The only thing he's got is good P.R., being a Democrat and the liberal media that breaks into hives everytime they have to write something negative about him.
