Well Take what ever the PD makes and divide that by 2 then subtract $ 200.00 and add a 2.75 pay increase. And you get a ZEEERO, Factor in cost of living off course. And through in a bunch of give backs. I feel bad for those guys. so much for Union Dues hard at work. Well we have the metoo so we will get screwed! 2 Da wall as well. Funny ha help levy the one termer.
we have ot so who cares if we are locked in for 16 hours and don't see our kids.

So long Joe

It was a sh*t sandwich that was orchestrated by our own union...we were sold out by the very people who we trusted to look out for our members. To answer you question ref. the contract- the newborn were sold out..they put a flex schedule into the contract...you have to have 40hrs worked before you are on overtime(like court officers) if you take a day off, you might as well write the rest of the week off for overtime. We also got unlimited sick like NYPD, so no more payout for your unused sick time. The percentage raises were what we expected but all the other stuff was a shock to the membership. This is a bad for all law enforcement unions and i hope the union heads for corrections,pd, etc have better foresight than the check writing numb nuts that thought it was a good idea to have our union head become sheriff.

So how does that work than? Let's just say, for arguements sake, the work week is m-f / 9-5. Does that mean you can only work overtime on Friday, Saturday and Sunday? If so does that apply to everyone or just the new hires?

It means that instead of getting OT for working more than 8 hours in a row, you only get OT when you go over 40hrs in a "work week". Then instead of getting OT after the 40, they might give you off so you don't get any OT. Ex: Mon-Thurs you work 10hrs a day, then they'd give you off Fri, Sat & Sun.

Gotcha... thanks.

Also once the new hires have this as a working chart..then you have a divided membership. Next time you are up for contract negotiations, you know they will want this chart for ALL members.

anyone know what's top base pay for a deputy?

naive one

They can't give you off if you work 10 hrs one day. What it means is that you will get paid straight time for your "overtime" until you reach the correct number hours then you get time and a half. So you are still compensated for your hours just at straight time.

wtp285- if you have a steady gig in the city...stay where you are. this job has gone down the toilet and i wouldn't recommend coming out here anymore. keep taking other pd tests in the meantime and forget about this jerkoff job.

Use It Correctly

"Six of one half dozen of the other"

Used to compare two things that are the same.

Half/Half
50/50

If I go left or right i'll turn up at the same place in the end. It's six of one half dozen of the other.

I found it very interesting that some moron came on here and accused our former union reps of being part of some sort of "conspiracy" to screw our own guys out of a decent contract? What a joke! If any of the blowhards peddling this tripe had even one ounce of evidence of what they are saying then they would have killed themselves running to newsday with it. The fact is they dont. The reason they dont is because there is none. No proof because it never happened. Our union got blasted by an arbitrator who hasn't gotten any work since. She sided with the county -(as she did on numerous other occasions in past arbitration sessions elsewhere), something our FORMER union attorney was responsible to figure out, yet he never did. So a few morons began a rumor mill, stirred the pot until it was boiling over and still to this day have zero proof of what they are saying. Nice job trashing your own workplace you bunch of zeros.

If you are looking at this job - then take it, it is a great job. You will make enough to pay your bills and that much isn't guaranteed elsewhere. We are struggling with the very same issues that every other local municipal union in the state is struggling with. Lastly it should be noted that our reps are picked by us, and by popular vote at that. So if we in fact want to place any blame for the sad state these guys say we are in - then we have to put at least that amount of blame on ourselves for who we put in charge of our union in the first place!

I dont need to guess who wrote those comments - largely because they are extremely ignorant and I make a habit of staying clear of ignorance as often as I can manage. They know who they are, and that is more than enough!

If you think its that bad you can always come bump a sector in the city and answer 15-20 radio runs a tour, get denied meals, write 20 summons, a collar a month and o yea dont forget 250s
