They go through the same process as the PD. So that would be a yes, you do go through a poly. What was your cousins score on the test?
NO POLY

If it helps, I scored 96 and haven't heard anything yet. I'm wondering if they are still processing a previous list.

The old list is dead. The last 21 were hired off the old list and will graduate the academy Nov. 30. A 90 should get called, maybe not in the first round

Is there any one going thru the process right now? Can a dep comment on the process? I think a 91 is #388 according to the C/S page. O and does anyone know if they assign you to an area close to your home? So when do you think the second round of deps will be hired? How long does it take to get promoted? Or move to a specialized unit such as gang, undercover, and sert? O and is it true they take there marked cars home?

Dep, how many rounds you think they will go through? I know someone in the class that is graduating that got an 86 or 87, thats the only reason im asking. Thanks.
Alot of 85's were hired off the old list because it was much smaller, i think their list # was around 400. Definitely no poly and check out the Suffolk County website to see the various assignments in the department. Click on elected officials, then click Sheriff.

The Sheriff does not routinely give a polygraph test, they will if an investigation shows a need.
It takes anywhere from 90 to 120 days to do a complete background check. 5% of candidates will decline the job at the seminar. About 66% of the original candidates will fail the physical, 15% the physiological. After that about 10% or so will fail the investigation process.
As you can see only about 1 of 10 candidates will even make it through the investigation.
It is never known exactly how many will be hired. A safe bet for 2005 is between 30 and 40.
Good luck!

i heard it was 20 and 20 split between the 2 academy classes, but again thats rumors
Why have they been hiring so many people? Are they looking to create a patrol unit or something?

We have enough city cops so forget about it if your a city cop. Suffolk Academy is 10 times harder.

Whats the process like and how long before you get a promotion, plain clothes or special unit dying to find out. Also is there a big ammount of young deps, minorities an females on the job?
You are a complete idiot. I've been through both NYPD and SCPD academies and SCPD was easier by far. If it was hard for you maybe that is because you are an overweight slob or a complete moron (maybe even both). Quit disrespecting the NYPD and the Deputies for that matter with your idiotic postings.

I do not think the city could be any harder. Suffolk County has its rough areas. And I see the City Cops getting jammed up way more. SCPD reduces crime because criminals Know we the man. I never went to the city could of had the job but did not take it.
