View Full Version : Suffolk Crime Rate Falls

The crime rate in Suffolk County fell approximately 10 %. Today's Newsday has the article. Levy and Dormer were there touting all of their "reforms" but never acknowledged the work done by the men and women of the SCPD. Why was that? Dormer said that the public can see a return for their tax dollars. Fine, but are we "investments"? Many officers were injured while performing their duties, serving and protecting the public. We come to work each and every day of the year and do our job well, as evidenced by the drop in crime. Their publicity apparently was well above an "atta boy" to the people who DO do the job.

gee only 25 murders,90 rapes,681 robberies,603 felony assaults, not bad for a county where the cops dont do anything and crime of any type is virtually non existant.
well over 1000 class a felonies, alone.not including the 650,000 911 calls as of 11/18/04, plus all the lower category crimes, handled by roughly 200 officers per day,how do the cops have time to hide in the firehouses and eat all those donuts they get for free?
perhaps the ''cake'' job that used to be scpd has been lost to the filth, er i mean the county resident of suffolk?

confusing sounds like he is actually defending us, probably being sarcastic, how would he know the c.c total unless he was a p.o.
Well it seems like the Suffolk county cops as they like to be called are having a tough time with crime.
Your true blue hero DAG here is more than willing to come in and clean up the problem.

or their bizarre POLITICAL promotions within the department-they are just taking the credit for the hard work of the everyday police officers.
We all know those cops are hard working. Its very hard driving to all those late night donut stops.

i was standing up for us, thought i made it clear, when the guys from the city compare their animals to ours what they're forgetting the size of 1 station in the city is nearly the size of our entire police force out here, 7 pcts around 25 bodies per pct is less than 200 cops on the street. again the city has more(but the gap is closing) violent totally stomach wrenching crime. but city cops are treated better, probably because the people they serve are not so big headed and full of themselves, the actual class of either isnt very different, city dwellers just know how to play the game better, that we are in charge and we win no matter what. people out here are hung up on complaining to supervisors(they dont care) and trying to put us in our place.
alot of my prior post was sarcasm directed at the various know it alls that say all we do is eat donuts and hide. read thru hte entire board and you'll see alot of it, well not with those numbers of class a felonies plus the lesser crimes plus the 660000 calls we handled this year.
sorry dag

Quote:gee only 25 murdersAre you telling us that Suffolk homicide dicks work an average of 2 bodies a month???
What the hell do they do with all their spare time?
plenty of work
11-20-2004, 05:15 AM
they are accountable for any death investigation, suicides, overdoses, mva, suspicious death, and the rest any death that isnt natural they show up.and there are alot of them you people drive like crap, takes drugs like they're candy, and now its the silly season 2-3 suicides a week.
there are only 10-15 dics, so it aint like its a lot of down time
More than that
11-20-2004, 05:40 AM
i know this might be over your head but dont forget, not every homicide is solved at the scene, there are many open cases that they will work with .
and believe it or not, there were murders committed in other places on this planet. they investigate murders that occurred elsewhere but might involve suffolk residents.

Why waste my time taking exam that has been so dumbed down that anyone can a great score.
I have a much better job than driving around and checking out who has the better french Crueller.
You guys make it seem like taking the exam is a tough thing. If you think that is tough that explains why so many crimes go unsolved.

I've read your posts and i know that you were sticking up for us and being sarcastic. I appreciate it. I do have to disagree with you when you see that city cops are treated better than us out here. I don't know if you have worked both jobs but I have and there really is no comparison to how we are treated. City cops get treated like garbage by the residents, the judges, the politicians, and even their own department. I'll take the whiny spoiled know-nothings (like Dag) out here anyday. Most of the people that whine about our salaries are just jealous morons that have nothing better to do with their time. You still failed to enlighten us Mr. Dag as to what your occupation is. Could you not think of a good one to make up or are you just scared to admit what you do?

my point was that the job out here and the city job isnt that different anymore, the gap is closing. the amount of people to cops ratio is way out of hand.
yes we are treated better, for now.
dag, like mentioned before,i dont go to other employment board websites and rag on people's jobs, i come here to talk about cop issues. IF you are so great, you wouldnt be here putting others down to feel good about yourself.i seriously doubt you even work, although you can lie here and say anything, you choose to not even answer what you do for a living. the point of the academy wasnt just the test, which you wouldnt pass, but the training and discipline, which dumbed down compared to the army,a chubby punk like you couldnt handle couldnt do it.
hey french ''Crueller'' is a little more original, still lame as can be, but coming from a dead end, ged failure like yourself, thats an improvement
you guys win again. yes im jeaulous but its not fair.i'm a little less smart than you but, im well on my way to a boces degree then when i get off probation, i'll really make alot of money, petco is hiring 7.80 a hour plus discounts on food for my pitbull.

My neighbor tells me there was a murder here over the weekend. A kid got shot in the head...
What's up with this? Were there any arrests. There doesn't seem to be anything in the paper about it..Is my neighbor pulling my leg again? He knows I have security concerns when it comes to my family.
but i havent heard about it, if the news doesnt have it, and its just a neighborhood rumor, its possibly a suicide or nothing

I saw the press release at work. Apparently, a call came in for a person in a car (parked) around 3PM. When the police arrived, they found a male shot in the head. i forgot the victim's name. Sad but true. more details will probably follow. No arrests had been made at that time.

I usually don't post. But I feel compelled to make some observations: since my career with the NYPD ended at the Trade Center (exposure illness, lungs) I have had the honor of observing the operations of the SCPD. (When I was working, I never had the time.) Sharp as hell, totally professional, patrol presence, and excellent response time. You guys are pros, in a big way.
Since my retirement, I have also noted that your job is getting harder, and more dangerous. As a resident, I am see neighborhoods change for the worse, the punk/knucklehead population truly on the rise, and the internal nonsense in your Department taking its toll on hard working cops.
In the City, I was a target by the perps, the media, and hostile management. I get the impression the same thing is happening here, and I am concerned about it. All I can tell you is that I accepted being unapprecitated (think of Harlem in 1992) and did it anyway, because I believed I was doing good. That was enough, and the memory of that keeps me going today, especially when the 9/11 thing flares up. At least I will die for something.
You will feel the same way, when all this is over. Believe me on this.
I worked solo for four years in the city (Highway) and know the tactics involved with that type of work. You gus (and gals) are patrolling much of SC alone. (I do not see you hanging around donut shops, by the way.) I greatly respect this, particularly when I think of the gang influence sweeping Nassau and Suffolk.
On top of all this, everyone has camera phones. I don't think I'd last a week, really - I'm an old school guy.
So please watch your ass, and eachother. We're pulling for you. Take care.
