Sounds like an "ongoing criminal conspiracy" if true. Try RICOH.

I feel the military is hampered by politicians and political correctness when it comes to fulfilling their duties. The same hampering restrictions must affect the police.

an example: Presiding officer of county legislature doesn't like way the police carry out needed operations, so he/she calls to the carpet the commanding officer of that particular precinct or even leans into the county police commissioner.

Political correctness wins out over sensible police tactics.

the problem with levys plan is it is going to utilize an incredibly understaffed police force, that cannot answer its 911 calls in a timely fashion.
while suffolk county's population, roads, housing has exploded through the 1980s and on the staffing levels has remained stagnant. the police force has actually declined. a perfect example for the year 2005 100 posistions are rumored to be available for new hires, yet there already have been over 125 retirements.
i know everyone thinks we just cross old ladies at street corners, but those days are well over with. we just dont have the personnel to spare to do this. the dept would need to hire around 70 people to cover the loss of patrol to make the specialized unit for this.
from what i hear, most illegals would just cross the border into nassau as soon as this was enacted.

i agree with 911, the county has not addressed the staffing issues out here. i live in miller place. ive watched the town go from about 15,000 souls to well over .. whatever the population is now. the dirt roads that used be be here, including nesconset hiway are gone. and yet we still have the same amount of cops here. i can affirm the amount of crime and trash moving out here.
if this is a pba vs levy thing the union should realize they will lose the backing of the good people out here, that do appreciate them.

now what is the solution? most of the operational costs of say the second precinct probably is centered around the Huntington Station area

more crime is committed there and gang related activities are the highest along with high concentration of illegal aliens living in the area

The tax base for the area is quite low when you consider that the illegals and the employers don't pay a dime for any local county state federal government services
(of course that includes police functions) yet the area utilizes most services by government

the solution is to add enough personnel to allow patrol and or the specialized units to do the job both with the illegals and patrol., levy and our union have to work together, both sides have to give in.
not many of us have a problem getting rid of these people they are responsible for many of our calls whether or not its a crimes or just a disturbance.
sadly our view is the public for the most part resents us so it is a mute point whether or not we get ''bad pr'' from this.

Can't answer 911 calls. Then why is it I see 2 and somtimes 3 cars parked beside each other gabbing.Don't tell its there sergant giving them orders. As for them crossing old people I would probably have a heart attack if I seen that.

ok lord knows you wouldnt get off your fat ass and help them.
no one ever said cops have to work hours on end.do you at your job? doubt it, you're probably sitting at your desk right now.how long do you think they stay there? fyi they are on gps, hq knows exactly how long they sit still.they track their every move. i work out of a firehouse where one police car shuts down at nite, do you know how many complaints we get that the cop never leaves the house? its almost funny, if it wasnt sad. the best part is we just yes them, couple cop watchers like yourself actually went to iab with this crap where they were laughed at, one iab guy told the complaintant to get a life(hint). then he filed a complaint against the fd for not telling him the truth, our story was we felt he didnt need to know what cars were shutdown.that it is none of the publics business(hint) what manpower is where.

i agree with that, cops are just guys doing a job, no one ever said they have to be driving around aimlessly all day, i remember back during the last gas crisis, they were actually told to cut down on driving, more or less, only respond to 911 calls to save the taxpayers money.
as long as if there is a real emergency they get there quick and they do, thats fine.
let the frivolous calls clogging the system wait, maybe they'll get the hint too

out of all that all sundance cares about is seeing couple cars talking to each other.
population hasnt skyrocketed, roads are wideopen, and the same 20-25 cops per precinct that are patrolling are enough to handle the regular volume of low priority calls, and the fairly frequent hi-priority 911 calls. when one mva with injuries can take 1/2 of the cars out of service, whos answering calls for the rest of the precinct? who cares, apparently not many people do. when something bad does go down just blame us, thats what we're here for right?D">
but all sundance cares about is that he sees cops in their vehicles talking to each other

solution if no one rents to them, hires them or people who hire them, sells them used cars they will leave.
you have the right to refuse to rent to or hire illegals, thats no discrimination.
start by taking care of you and yours, then worry about others.
report people who rent to or hire them, report them when you see them driving *clue north carolina plate*.
certainly document any contact that you may have with them that is unfavorable.
call your local gov't tell them how you feel about levy's plan

Huntington tax payers are footing the bill so that businessmen can pay no local state federal taxes

Rich wrote a letter to the editor in Long Islander 11/25/04 issue. In it he claimed the town should not be funding our day laborer site with town taxdollars. The money would best be suited for education needs, anti gang measures, enforcing already existing building codes.

Rich was attacked verbally in a letter to the editor in Long Islander 12/2/04 by Ken Christensen. Ken was a former Huntington councilman and plumbing contractor who legislated the law to allow one dwelling single family houses to erect a second dwelling in them. Pretty good idea if your a contractor(and councilman and real estate broker Quentin Sammis as co sponsor)but lousy when it comes to ethics.

Ken is paid by the county for working in community development. He is also getting paid from the town of Huntington for consulting work and leading the town's revitalization efforts in Huntington Station. As a former chairman of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce he has his fingers in many cookie jars. So why does he come out and blast Rich McGrath for saying just the kind of statements ex county executive Gaffney made in his veto of a taxpayer funded site in Farmingville on 4/4/01?

In March 2002 at a townboard meeting Mr. McGrath had the misfortune of being attacked physically by the town's community development director Joe Devincent. A staunch left wing liberal. Devincent then smeared rich's reputation in the press the very next day after the attack in town board.

All Rich did was to complain to the town at a public meeting about gunshots coming from a run down house across the street from an elementary school where little children were already outside the building. The building had to be locked down. Rich had his own young children in the school at the time and he sits on the Huntington school board. He was scared for all the kids. For that he was called racist by Devincent and physically attacked in front of hundreds of people. The slander did help in defeating Mr. McGrath's bid to get elected to town council. Again so much for our NYS Laws on Ethics.

Now of course the town is fixing up the area and admitting the house was run down bringing a bad element to the neighborhood. No apology was ever forthcoming from the town to Mr. McGrath for what their department head did to him. This neglect had hurt all the area residents. So now why the attacks by Mr. Christensen who calls the day laborer site a safe site. Who says the owner of the site (a garment factory owner in the area), gets very little in the way of money from the taxpayers of this town. Should I believe him ?

Gaffney said that laws prohibited the county from using tax money to fund a day laborer site. He listed many laws and statutes as why it can't be done. So again I ask why is Huntington and it's government elected officials above the laws of this land?
