Back in the '60s the voters got conned into doing away with an elected Sheriff over an appointed one. They said it would take the "politics" out of the position. DUMB,DUMB voters bought the idea. Of course now the County Executive appoints a Sheriff, but there's no politics involved. Yeah, I have a bridge to sell you too. You also ask , why we don't have a Sheriff like Joe Arpaio? Well Nassau County is now run by the libs. Did you ever know a lib who didn't have more compashion in their heart for one of these skells over the victim?
