Possible NCPD

Anyone already in the Nassau academy or someone who has gone through it have any comments on the requirements???
How much running do you do in one session?
What are some of the other big physical requirements in order to graduate out of the academy??
How much of the week is spent on PT??

The only requirement in the NCPD Academy is that pretend you care about being a dedicated law enforcement official.
Once you graduate you can drop the facade and join the ranks of seasoned officers who could care less about the public and concentrate on how not to serve..especially if police works conflicts with your personal agenda.
Once you leave the NCPD Academy you will learn how to lie, deceive and generally B.S. civilians in order to flag or sh#tcan arrests that your academy training instructed you to make.
After all, why would you want to screw up your personal life and schedule in order to make an arrest for a civilian you don't even know..or for that matter, care about?

Are posted on the Nassau Civil Service website. From most accounts, it is fairly easy to pass because the scoring is derived from four events (there's no passing score needed on any one individual event).
Academy PT is a different story, I am told it usually starts 4 to 5 days/week, the MINIMUM distance run for the first day is 1.5-2 miles at the instructor's pace, not yours. Drop out or walk, and you come back on your own time to run additional laps during meal or before/after the day's classes.

Anyone have real info???? With all the people who talk about being cops you would think someone has real concrete explanation of what day to day is like in nassau academy.

Stop with the stupid questions.
For anyone with half a brain who can run a couple of miles without puking the academy is a tit.
The real test comes when you shake down your first meal from a proprietor on your post.

1.5 miles first 2 weeks up to 3.5 miles at the end in 3 months. Academics are difficult at the beginning specially if you are not prior law enforcement. You also have to be a First Responder so you will begin CPR type stuff right away. You get quizzed almost every week. Be prepared to give this academy your full attention because the beginning is hard and it seems impossible but it gets easier. The curriculum is front loaded. Any more question ask and I will try to answer.

What academy are you talking about? Last I heard the nassau academy is 6 months long and no first responder status is required when you join.
I see you didn't do well on the reading comprehension part of the exam.

Quote:Academics are difficult at the beginning specially if you are not prior law enforcement. Disregard the above comment. Academics are no different than any other learning experience you encountered in college.
Mostly rote memory learning with very little conceptualization. As I previously stated, the academy is a tit...and you're getting paid for it.
Now stop worrying about the academy and start concentrating on all the goodies you can freely acquire while walking your footpost in high crime communities like Bellmore and Farmingdale.

more likely hemp-stead, freeport, newcassel, there is real crime out there. even in those ok areas. unless you are in muttontown, you will be having fun with the nassau trash.
from one who knows, unlike prior poster, the academy is real, you will be pushed, but its not something unreachable.the academics are the easy part, learning to apply them, black and white rules in a grey world, is the hard part.
