View Full Version : Long Beach Screw UP

Can anyone explain to me how a violent murder suspect eluded the Long Beach (and Nassau County presumably) Police for 3 days when in fact he never ventured more than 2 blocks from the crime scene and was found in an abandonded house across the street from his own mother? It seems to me as if some pretty basic police work wsa skipped here. I know it's a relatively low crime area but that's all the more reason no resource should have been spared in capturing this man as quickly as possible.

give me a break

yeah right, the nypd is only good at finding its own criminals, not the ones roaming the streets

Leave it to a couple of losers to change the subject when they have no clue. You should be in the debates.

how about the loser that

but I got to give this one to CitiSgt. Pretty lame to let a known killer to stay on the streets just to get an old lady fou harboring her son. Couldn't they do that later on? In all the years I've lived down here I have been an ardent support of the LBPD, especially in the past few years where they have been effective in addressing quality of life issues in the West End. Sorry but they dropped the ball on this one.

With the violent murder that this guy commited, do you honestly believe that the police would just sit back and watch him for 3 days just to bag his mother for harboring. No way !!

I'm not a cop. But who ever believes they would do that is simply a cop hater.

Indeed

certainly the post about criminal intel is a pizzed off leo just screwing with the original poster, think about it, no one in that dept.would ever post here, seriously doubt that was true about the mom.in fact i know it isnt.
the original poster if he is a boss is probably jeaulous that he flunked the scpd, ncpd test, and cant join the 15-20 bosses from the city that have joined our ranks.and will make more than him in 2 years
as far as ripping the pd for not finding that skell, good point how many of us have caught a perp in the act? how many have grabbed wanted subjects for a a-felony?let alone a 125 collar?
not many

Who is Leo? Seriously, 3 days and never went more than 2 blocks! That's a major f*ck-up! I dont' necessarily think that this guy was gonna get "caught in the act" but certaintly within a few hours, maybe a day tops.

To LBPD I am truly sorry that CITI SGt (if he is on the job) ever learned how to turn on a computer. On a job as large as ours there are bound to be a couple of S heads. I was not home for 17 days in Sept of 2001. A NC county MOS made it part of his regular duty to stop at my house to make sure my 13 & 14 year old children took care of homework, dinner. See my wife had to work 3x11 (nurse) she couldn't be off every night.

Turns out my wife was nice to his family when they had their first child in 1999. It was a bad time and this guy did right by a fellow MOS. He swore me to keep this quiet, he never got any recognition except from my family. We will never forget his actions.

Point is, if you wear blue, you defend blue. Stop the crap.

try this let your child have a 10 minute head start. wait let me put a disclaimer in. dont do this with a child under 13 years of age.
then go find him. thats the same thing the pd dealt with with this piece of meirde.
if he was hiding in a privately owned property, the pd could not merely kick in the door and grab him, they still need a search warrant.
im sure all the couch potatoes watch americas most wanted, how many wanted felons out there? lbpd, ncpd did a great job in catching the perp, period.
anyone else out there think they could do a better job, take the test

Another wannabe heard from. A seach warrant is not neccesssary to kick down the down if the PD has an arrest warrant for the individual which I assume they would have as the husband was the only suspect from the beginning.

u need a search warrant, cant enter every house in lb looking for him, arrest warrant only means you can only arrest him, not search. u probably can articulate entering his house with a arrest warant, which you dont even know if they had, to ''kick down the down''. dismissed back to watching nypd blue

cpl 120
10-14-2004, 09:21 AM
u need a search warrant, unless the court otherwise specifies that the arrest warrant can be enforced on the reasonable suspicion the subject is on said premise. see section 120. of the cpl.
that never happens, look when the city did couple warrants on wrong i/l. no court is going to leave itself open to all that litigation. maybe only subjects owned property, anything else, ie abandoned house, mom's home, would need courts approval, thats no big deal, call da, advise what you info or 1st hand kowledge you have and it will happen. if you see the subject, then you have the freedom to go after him anywhere

People watch too much TV and think they know the Job. We know how many rules and steps are needed to do the Job.
Ignore those that don't know the Job or that claim to be on it. They may be the do nothings or just disgruntled. after many yrs. I have seen good days and bad, but still love the Job as I did on day 1.
Once again I apolgize for every s..th..d that detracts from our profession.
