But Levy said the PBA only began negotiating seriously when it became clear he would include layoffs in his proposed budget. Noel DiGerolamo, PBA vice president, said Levy is "fully aware of the critical role" Eddington and lawmakers played in the deal.

Levy said he's neutral in this year's election but only spoke out because he was questioned. And he said Eddington should stop using him in mailings: "It would be hypocritical for him to use my name . . . because he's been such a thorn in my side."

What Deal???

Typical Levy M.O. - if its percieved as a good thing, he jumps up and down :"It was my idea, and mine alone! ME! ME! ME! ME!ME!"

If it goes south or is percieved as problematic : "I had nothing to do with it/My hands were tied by _____ (the PBA, the Legislature, The State, the Feds, etc.)"

When the deal falls apart, I wonder how rank and file would feel about voluntarily giving the lag pay out of the retro.
I know it would look like we caved in to Levy, but better yet, it would trump his act, and show the public who was more willing to negotiate.
It would truly drive him over the edge.
The obvious and only question would be is it worth it?

I work for another PD job but I have SCPD friends and I am a County Resident, I agree with the above Posts. You cant trust him at all. HE ran to Newsday before the deal was approved. I can see him reneging on parts of the deal so it doesnt go through and then painting the Union as the bad guy.
Now what I pay in County taxes is nothing compared to my School and Library. So you know what Steve raise my taxes $1.00 and you'll be ahead and get rid of my shcool board.

Suffolk taxpayers are being taxed at full-police, manpower rate. You're paying full boat for 355 positions that remain empty. Instead of returning those funds to the tax base, Levy is depositing them in his own "Rainy Day Fund". We expect those funds will emerge re-election time for appearance purposes. In the meantime 3 sector cars from each precinct are locked up every night because of a manpower shortage. These cars are from better areas cause they can't chance the risks of other areas. We also have the same amount of cops as we did in the late 1960s. So the good people are getting shorted while politics continue as usual. Our biggest complaint from outside agencies is our terrible response time. Well it's getting worse before it gets better.

Be careful and stay safe. Thank you for your service.

The issue here, is would the pba have the cajones to do this.
Would it be worth the money.
If it was done it would truly destroy levy and his reputation. If we could work it out and have it in writing before the deal fell through and do a press release the minute after levys, it would ruin much of what he is about.
The hard part would be convincing the members to give up the nut for nothing in return.

It would never happen but it is an interesting concept, we would out-levy him at his own game.
Suppose Frayler got on tv today and offered the 12 million lag pay regardless of what deal we got. What would levy do?

So you think we should give back 12million to Levy for no deal to show him up???...you truly are an asshole.

No give back, lag.
Do I think we should do it? No. Look where its being discussed.
Do I think its a hypothetical worth discussing, sure. Why not. It brings up a point that hasnt been discussed at all. Out playing levy. No one wants to lag the 12 million, but at the same time who wants levy pr machine to rip us again?
Anyone else come up with a idea how to beat him at his own game i'd l;isten too.

I would love to see the PBA do some pre-emptive media work. It would be great to get somebody on news 12 or newsday saying "we have an offer on the table but Levy is stalling", but all the local media is controlled by Levy supporters who never us a fair shake.
