You answered your own question, both are great jobs, and both have to deal with political BS.
whichever one u get

I should be in the next wave of people getting called for Nassau. But they can keep that job with that starting pay. All they're going to get are skids and kids who still live with thier parents.

Nassau cops don't have the excessive white trash to deal with. Starting pay is a big difference however.

Both great jobs but Suffolk tops out higher and in only 5 years, Nassau 8. Also the starting salary. Suffolk has 5 personal days you can use on X-mas new years etc. Nassau you can't. Suffolk does have bigger nicer cars, Nassau has those mini impala's. Nassau has name plates, Suffolk doesn't(but soon), Suffolk has travel time, Nassau doesn't (lost in last contract), Suffolk has better computers, Suffolk has 13 paid holidays, Nassau 12. Suffolk is cheaper to live, Nassau isn't. Suffolk is further to NYC, Nassau isn't. Suffolk does have more white trash, but Nassau has more ******** which is worse. Now the only and I mean only thing Nassau has better is work hours, that 12 hour tour rocks! Overall pick Suffolk by a long shot but both great jobs.
Take Nassau

Lot's of criminals on the Suffolk job above the rank of Lt. who have done some seriously deviant stuff in addition to directly ordering their officers to avoid and look the other way to help politically connected dirtbags continue their ongoing criminal enterprises. SCPD leave your ethics and morals at the door, go along to get along and you'll do fine.
Here we go

Over the past few years Suffolk has become the better job by far.
neg on the name tags in scpd, iab felt it would generate way too many more unfounded civilian complaints.
LAPD adopted a policy of accepting ANY and all civilian complaints even anonymous ones. This is how we made a point. Make anonymous complaints against each and every PO and boss on the job. "The officer compelled the UFO's to follow me and then forced me to chew 27 pieces of wrigley spearmint gum." After IA had a few thousand complaints to investigate and close out, they got the hint and modified their any and all even anonymous complaint policy.

iab out here isnt bad actually. cant complain, certainly no witch hunts. they just do their job, problem is the civilians who think every thing we do is something they can complain about.
especially when they go for the ride, somehow they think a complaint will help them in the meantime, it just makes things worse
like the 1st guy said, either or, its like winning lotto

Apparently police work on Long Island is not quite as stressful or dangerous as some officers would like to lead the public to believe.
too bad you'll never know, other than what you read here
its more about the bosses, treating you with respect, out here, than the level of work, PLENTY of perps out here, just better working conditions.we are all jumping ship, just got to get used to big mouths out here who dont respect the law.

its alot busier out here than you'd believe, some areas are worse than the city, anything south of 25a is busy, and some pretty hairy calls. just read the paper.
so if you're jumping ship because of that forget it, the pay is good, and you work with good folk, for now.

That was uncalled for, Command 420....and untrue. If you had a bad boss, and he had prior time, it was just a coincidence. Don't make something out of nothing.
