Bogsted should remain in office.
He has done an outstanding job for Nassau County Constituents as Commissioner of Consumer Affairs.
Put your differences aside and do what is in the public's best interest.

Roger can't work for Suozzi and the Conservative agenda.

your point is stupid. what kind of a freakin idiot do you think people are. Roger can be replaced because we all can. The graveyards are filled with indispensable people. Amazing how people in the government think they know what is in "the public's best interest." Amazing how you can combine arrogance with stupidity to be one formidable Suozzi Hack.

You ignored my point. Bogsted works for the CONSTITUENTS as Commissioner of a lean, and productive agency - the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs. There isn't a political agenda with consumer affairs, licensing and complaints. Commissioner Bogsted, his deputys [sic], the staff do a good job at this agency meeting the needs of constituents.
If an individiual [sic] is well suited and qualifiied [sic] for a government position it shouldn't matter what their politics are [!!!]. Bogsted served both a Republican and now a Democrat administration. What Mr. Bogsted does with his own free time is his business.
Roger got his job because of his Conservative Party leadership. Without that, Roger would be a phys ed teacher, wrestling coach or extra on the remake of Miami Vice. So it stands to reason that he can lose this very same job because of politics. And it matters not a bit how some of Roger's fans love to propagandize that he's done a stellar job at this backwater county agency.
I really don't care whether Rogers stays as commissioner or stays as county chairman. I admittedly don't know how he's performed as commissioner, but apparently the county comptroller has gone on record savaging Roger's jod performance.

Absolutely untrue. You must have received a very different report......In fact, it was one of the more favorable reports issued by the county comptroller about any agency. A few procedures weren't automated; it was a direct result of lack of budget funding for new computers....

Consumer Affairs should be reduced to a Division, not a Department. Place it under the Health Dept. or General Services. Lets make government smaller. The County could eliminate a dozen departments, further cuts are needed.
The Controllers Report did not like how Hearings were held in Consumer Affairs. That Hansen was Judge, Jury, and Proseciutter.
hard to tell

The Controllers Report did not like how Hearings were held in Consumer Affairs. That Hansen was Judge, Jury, and Proseciutter.
The audit did not state that hearings were presided over by a deputy county attorney, so unless the poster had been administratively prosecuted by the OCA, there is no basis to believe that Hansen juggles all of these hats. In fact, the audit notes that hearings are performed by a Deputy Commissioner or a division head. The audit appeared concerned about a lack of preservation of a record of the hearings. Hansen, while a high ranking official associated with the Consumer Affairs Department, is not a Deputy Commissioner or division head.
To be fair to Hansen, his role in developing improved due process mechanism for the department is unclear from the audit and subject to attorney client privilege, so he can't even defend himself on this point. However, an attorney assigned to that bureau should have recommended some form of improving the hearing process, especially with respect to improving transcription, be it through a tape recorder process or hiring per diem court stenographers. Presumably, the officers conducting the hearings are not attorneys admitted to the practice of law in New York. This compounds the due process problem, and the audit is deficient for not noting the hearing officers' educational credentials, other than their job titles.
On the other hand, while a deputy county attorney of ordinary ability should be treated with sympathy on this matter, a candidate for chief executive should be chided for failing to promote and achieve appropriate reform when serving as agency counsel.

Wow. The Admin of this board really has an axe to grind against Roger Bogsted. To create a "poll" with those types of skewed questions is beyond the pale and so obviously biased.

I agree. It was obviously biased, and in very bad taste.
good choice but

Chris is a lawyer who accepts court referrals. Chris would be unable to accept assignments from the court if he were to become party chair, which would be a shame because he is an excellent advocate. Being in the leadership is good for a lawyer, but the merits of being the chair are overstated. You still only have one vote on the executive committee and you have certain proscriptions to your professional life, plus a higher profile and significant fundraising responsibilities. Chris would have a good temperment for chair. He is a humorous and intelligent man who does not have a confrontational style about him.

Grow a sense of humor. The poll is obviously a satire of a ridiculous situation. Roger Bogsted is rapidly becoming the Major Major Major Major of Nassau County politics.
