People are becomeing more inconsiderate every day in lindy. They think nothing of crossing active traffic to park on the wrong side of the street. At night they leave from the wrong side of the street blinding you with headlights. Double parking to let someone out in front of their house when there is an open parking space 30' ahead of them.

The village could make a fortune sending parking enforcment out on residental streets at night to ticket wrong side parking.

I will say that village services are good and Wellwood still has the hometown feel, to bad there are so many vacant stores but thats the way it is in most of LI these days

I think the Village has an obligation enforce "quality of life" violations. This is not only parking, but enforcement of two family regulations, the condition of store fronts and anything else that lowers the quality of life (meaning the way we have to tolerate the condition of our village) for its law abiding residents.

Drive around some time, and you'll see a beautiful home and next door to it is an unkept house in need of a paint job, with a boat in the driveway that has weeds growing out of it or a 1980s car with no plates. How do you think the guy with the beautiful home feels everyday when he gets home from work having to look at that crap?

Also, people putting garbage out days in advance of pick-up really makes you proud to have the out of town friends and relatives come to your house.

The solution is really quite simple, Village Hall should publish something in the South Bays Paper stating the common sense quality of life rules and regulations. A reasonable time after publication, its no mercy with the issuance of summonses. If there is a reasonable explanation for the violation, let the recipient of the summons explain it in Village Court.

The vast majority of law abiding residents in our Village shouldn't have a problem with this, only the people who are bringing our Village down will.

So sad yet true. I graduated LHS in 73. Lindy was a great place to grow up. The memorial day parades, the races at fireman's park, the beach. I have a lot of fond memories of the village. Does anyone remember Jerry Koosman's big bite on the southwest corner of Wellwood and Hoffman where the recently defunct carpet store was located? We use to hang out there every day after high school and play pinball. Or how about the butcher shop on Wellwood by John street - I can remember my mom getting our meat there and the old big butcher, cigar in mouth, use to give us kids a slice or two of bologna.

While I have been a life long democrat I don't agree at all with the current democrat trends. It's as if the democrats want all these illegals around. I think they plan on giving them all amnesty and then citizenship just so they can grow their base. For my money I say, we enforce our immigration laws and keep illegals out. Period. End of story, no excuses.

But what is happening in Lindenhurst is happening all over. For example, Babylon village by the train station has become a mini Brentwood.

The problem in Lindenhurst Village is that there are too many people who are just too damned lazy, irresponsible or apathetic to admit that their actions (and/or inactions) affect others. This includes the actions of their children, all of whom are little angels, their tenants living both upstairs and in the illegal basement apartments and their friends who come to "visit".

Look at Wellwood after school and see the skells hanging out. Are those the people who just left the new courthouse? No. Thats little Johnny and Lisa from the neighborhood. And wow isn't it so sad that they have ADD, ADHD or have some form of autism, or maybe they even come from homes when mommy and daddy are divorced, but does that cause them to be arrogant rude little douchebags?

Drive down a block that has a convenience store nearby, and see the empty red bull and beer cans and other crap not to mention the empty zip lock dime bags your darling kids toss out car windows or just drop as they walk. Why does the lazy ass teenager down the block door think its okay to cut across my neighbor's lawn to save eight steps in getting to her front door?

Ever wonder why a four car driveway is required when there is an accessory apartment in a house, yet there is never more than one car parked on it? Yet, two or three other cars that belong to people living in that house are parked on the street?

Why are weeds growing out of the cockpit of the boat on your lawn that is never going to be in the water again? Get rid of the damned boat.

Our village is turning to crap because the people who live here just don't give a damn about their neighbors, and they are not being held accountable for their actions or the actions of their children.

We're all screwed living in 'villages' . I live in another village and work for that village. I can tell you it doesn't matter which party is in office, they're all full of crap. They all take from their villages, and don't give back. They all give and create jobs for their unqualified friends. They're all campaigning for re-election as soon as they're sworn in. In the case of Freeport, they gave themselves a pay raise 5 minutes after they were sworn in ( among many many many many other things ). I've heard people from RVC are looking to dissolve their village, as well as a few other villages. Why don't you guys team up and get rid of them? Take a look at locales that aren't villages and look at how nicely they do- i.e. Merrick... why not take the money and the power from these little crooks/thieves we call local elected officials?!
