TVB vs. Suffolk County Traffic Court

I heard that the current administration is looking to remove the Dept from utilizing TVB (run by NYS) and creating a Traffic Violations bureau (run by the County), similiar to Nassau's.

One of the reasons given was that Suffolk County receives approx. 2% of the money collected at/through TVB. All revenue in the new Bureau would go to the County. Another was the elimination of court OT for traffic cases. Cases would be plea-bargained and officers would not have to appear.

Would this benefit the County financially, or would this create another bureaucratic layer within County government?

I saw that Smithtown made their own TVB. Does anyone from the 4th have info on how that works? Do your UTT's go to state or to Smithtown?

Smithtowns TVB is for parking violations only. SCPD and Town Public Safety write there for violations of town code only. There is no judge-only a hearing officer.

NO V&T stuff goes here. Village courts do deal with V&T stuff, have Judges. Village Prosecutors handle village code violations while an attorney from the DA's office handles all V&T stuff. Village courts can deal with misdemeanors but choose not to due to the cost of setting up jury pools, court officers etc..

Ok, I'll take the bait. It is not a scam, you just have to pay close attention to the required level of proof for conviction. It isnt like a criminal trial where you need to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. TVB only requires "clear and convincing" evidence as the threshold for guilt. That, my friend, is pretty easy to establish.

The retards of the driving world would be happy if that happened. TVB is guilty or not guilty, a county court like Nassau works almost like a criminal court where everything is plea bargained. So skell you can get your 90/30 and go in an leave with a 35/30. The only advantage for the cop is you will never have to tesify
