Shut down 321 last night again. Maybe more. It seems like Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights will be the ideal time to commit crime in the Town of Islip.
If you are working and your car gets shut down, make sure to go over the radio that you are 28 tour so the adjoining sector knows and he/she won't count on you for backup.

It's my understanding (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the reason for these shut downs is that the OT budget for the 3rd is approx 80% used. Obviously, the allocators of OT monies have again forgotten that the 3rd Pct is a very busy and active one. There are many arrests made, which cause OT. The precinct is still understaffed, add vacations, injured PO's, sick POs, personal days used in the summer that causes OT also. Did Hq also take into account the raise, which eats into their budget?
games have always been played with the budget. If the powers that be in HQ adequately set up the budgets and stopped playing political A$$ kissing games, there would be no need for sectors to be shut down. Until that happens, keep getting the word out as to which sectors are shut down. Call your local S.C. Legislator and tell them to look into the problem.

Shut down 320 last mid 7-22. By far the biggest sector in the 3rd on the mids. That's a lot of people without police service! Where is the PBA and the county legislature? What does our pct trustee have to say about this? Still hearing a lot of people 10-60ing calls though, this has to stop!

Too many 10-60's going on. Guys, remember that cars have started to be shut down in the 3rd again around 0300. I guess some guys like doing more with less. i also heard that some bodies may be moved onto the midnights. That will probably cut down on the ot. I hope that there will be full manning through the summer, it has been a busy one so far.

Another item is when a officer goes 28 hold me out to the precinct and then stays inside for over an hour..Does that sound familyer. Or hold me 28 personal. Wake up 3rd pct admin it happens every day....

I understand that there will be some bodies moving to COPE . That will increase OT opportunities. I also understand that the OT budget has taken a good hit. It wouldn't suprise me if the Dept. went back to shutting down cars. I heard that the 1st Pct has been shutting some cars down around 0300 hrs. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Has anyone heard anything new on the staffing taskforce? Stay safe out there guys!!
