Without bashing anyone, could you inform us what the number was for the last few years, b4 there was a change in who patrols the road?
Otherwise I'm glad to see 12 idiots are about to get their due.

And where did these dwis come from? Where they all locals from smithtown that dont know there is one road in+out?
No, of course not, they could be driving anywhere from Queens to Quogue.
Hwy cops are arrogant, but who cares? Id rather have a arrogant cop earning his salary then a nice cop sitting behind a bush hiding

I think what the true matter is here is that the sherriffs didnt lock up as many DWIs as perhaps a SCPD hwy unit would have. Its not the deps fault. Blame Levy for Cost cutting and risking lives. Deps just doin as they are told. All blame and embarassment should go one Levy, the cop or sheriff in the street has NOTHING to do with this.

you're comparing scso 7 sector cars and 2 sgts with 12 dwi's compared to 7 pcts turning out how many cars and how many bosses plus your safety dwi team???? how many dwi's did scpd have over that weekend?
next we'll be comparing northport pd vs scpd arrests...

You obviously have no idea and that is why your deputy totals will never match what highway patrol did. You think you could stay in highway only writing tickets on overtime, and 3 at that!! You are completely clueless!

Easily 12 just on the mids alone. The total for a holiday weekend like this one past, at least double to triple that number. And with the free for all the roads have been allowed to get while highway patrol has been off the road, 12 is a poor excuse.

12 DWI's being stopped does not out# the # of drunks that are no longer being stopped.
Its a disgrace what Levy allowed Suffolk highways to become. Frightned deputies hiding till the end of tour. Highway Patrol was not easy, and by far not safe. More cops get killed doing highway enforcement then anywhere else in the field. A good way to avoid that danger is too avoid the work and hide. Good job guys!!

Not even close. ALL of Suffolk county had 85 dwis. After you minus out the 5 east end towns, The deps, the state pd and the villages you are left without about 30-35 dwis.

Newsday reportd that there was a total of 83 dwis in suffolk. The Deps had 12, Southampton had 15, Troopers had 30(17 were in suffolk) That is 45 in suffolk. That leaves 39 dwis that were split up between SCPD, The other 4 east end town PD's and all of the village pd's. You would think that SCPD got most of them.

Not with 2,000 calls a day for an undermanned dept.
Cops in SCPD work by themselves in 1 man cars. Unlike NYPD, they don't call for a sgt when making arrests. They prepare their own court informations, which is done by the D.A. in the city. The agency is virtually scandel free. The taxpayer is getting good services.
